Lupe Fiasco confirms the truth in his Wikipedia
2009-11-17 02:12:00
More Lupe headlining GWHH as our ChicagoNow fam Alicia E. passed along this brand new, fun interview with the Wikipedia Files @ Vocalo. The premise is oddly entertaining: celebrities get interviewed to confirm the truth on their Wikipedia page. Watch as Lupe Fiasco discusses some facts from his early childhood, how he got the name Lupe Fiasco, and more anecdotes from throughout his career. The one note that particularly intrigued me was Lu's reconfirmation of the novel he is writing entitled Reflections of a Window Washer. I don't expect the novel  (or 'short story' that Lupe jokes, haha!) 2 hit bookstores anytime soon... but I am really intrigued 2 see another form of creative expression from Lupe Fiasco. If he...

English Wikipedia Reaches 3 Million Articles
2009-08-18 11:03:00
Wikipedia has announced on its homepage today the creation of the three millionth article on its English version. This milestone was created with the addition of a page about Beate Marie Eriksen, a Norwegian actress and film director. Wikipedia has been the most successful social media experiment in recent times. Started in 2001, the online encyclopedia has very quickly replaced Encyclopedia Brittanica as the most preferred destination for information seekers. What has been so dramatic in the growth of Wikipedia is that the contribution has been solely through volunteers and the foundation run with the help of donations! The website, including all the different languages, today has close to 13 million articles written by over 10 million registered users; not counting the several million other users who contribute as unregistered editors. From an Indian standpoint, Wikipedia has still got a lot of scope to grow considering that the Indian language sections of Wikipedia have had rela...

Wikipedia Bringing Videos Into Its Fold - Now Edit Videos Like Text
2009-06-19 17:10:00
In the short history of the web, if any resource on the web has come close to challenging Google’s position as the number one information repository it has to be Wikipedia. The powerful web resource that Jimmy Wells has built and runs purely through donations is one of the success stories of the Internet. And it is set to get bigger and better. According to the word going around,  Wikipedia might just be introducing videos into its fold. Wikimedia had already given a prelude to this on their Collaborative Video page saying: Wikimedia Foundation and Kaltura have begun a process aimed at bringing rich-media collaboration to Wikipedia and other wiki websites. The vision of this project is to enable the Wikipedia community to further enhance and enrich Wikipedia articles with rich-media content. The technology behind this project is a form of video-wiki software that is integrated into the Mediawiki platform as an extension, allowing users to add collaborative video players that ...

Track Your Wikipedia Pages with Wiki Alarm
2009-05-16 03:00:00
Recently, Irish sociology student Shane Fitzgerald fooled numerous reporters by inventing a fake quote just hours after the death of French composer Maurice Jarre.  The quote, originally posted on Jarre's Wikipedia page, wound up in blogs and publications around the world.  Fitzgerald says this was done to teach journalists the importance of double checking the facts listed in Wikipedia before publishing them.  Maybe some of these writers would have been hip to the hoax if they had used Wiki Alarm.
Sathya Sai Baba Man Joe Moreno?s Diabolizing Photo Alterations of Sai Baba
2009-05-09 00:26:00
The principal internet critic of Sathya Sathya Sai Baba critics (beside Dr G.Venkataraman) is Gerald Joe Moreno of New Mexico, USA. He virtually lives in virtual reality - if reality it is. For the last few years, day after day (and night, of course), he has made countless attacks of various kinds on practically anyone who has raised his and her voice in criticism of the idol of Moreno's life, Sathya Sai Baba. The 'maturity' of these endeavours questions the support given to Moreno by both leading Sathya Sai Baba and rank-and-file personnel, including members of the International Sathya Sai Organization. But one example of Moreno's disparaging 'art' and 'craft' is that against Sanjay Dadlani, whose University authorities have been beset with material that Moreno has sent to vilify and destroy this young man. So as to concentrate on his studies heading towards a Ph.D in neuro-Psychology, Dadlani has, for a considerable time, withdrawn (since early August, 2008, I think) f...
Sathya Sai Baba Man Gerald Moreno - Banned By Eight Wikpedia Editors
2009-05-02 02:36:00
In case legal actions and/or media interest occur, Moreno's and the Sathya Sai Organization libels of many decent and upright members of wider communities throughout the world, are being recorded. This is so, also, of material that he takes off the Internet. Evidence of Moreno's connections with those close to Sathya Sai Baba, as well as various members of the Sathya Sai Organization in various countries, will be provided to bona fide media, scholarly and other investigators well-respected in the international community.
Robert Priddy?s Series On Sathya Sai Baba Man, Gerald Moreno
2009-04-26 01:54:00
I note with a certain awe at his great energy - which he by no means reserves only for exposing Sathya Sai Baba and his sect - that Robert Priddy is still adding to his series in which he refutes the writings of one hellbent on scurrility, Gerald Moreno, who leagues in his endeavours with Sai devotees including those close to Sathya Sai Baba. Moreno, moreover, has a certain status as a popular hero for those who also profess but do not carry out the spiritual teachings of Sathya Sai Baba.
Sathya Sai Baba Apologist Joe Moreno?s Random Personal Attack Style (1)
2009-04-15 00:49:00
In the writings of Sathya Sai Baba’s foremost apologists, it is very typical to attempt to make it appear as though Sai Baba critics live, somehow, in each other’s grey and homogenous pockets. Fortunately, there is a great deal that has been written by competent and rational commentators on Sathya Sai Baba and his worldwide sect, such as ...

Latest on the Evil Wikipedia Cabal

A diabolical cabal stalks Wikipedia. It monopolizes the editing, breaks every rule in the book and then enforces the same rules against everyone it doesn't like, throws people off for no reason, and then hilariously pretends to be objective.Wikipedia, from the sleazy porn merchant God in Flesh Jimbo on down, is like a conspiracy-riven Arab dictatorship. Everyone loves reading articles on Wikipedia as they are free and easily accessible but what if you fall in a situation where you don?t have access to the Internet and you want to access Wikipedia to reference one of your projects or assignments? The Wikimedia Foundation has released an offline Wikipedia for Schools selection which carries articles on over 5500 topics and can be burned to a DVD for offline reading. Notice that the ?Wikipedia for Schools? version is only recommended for use by students of age 8-18 as it only consists of topics relevant to their education, however in my future posts I will be sharing a tip to download a full offline-version of Wikipedia for offline reading. I Made It To Wikipedia
2008-09-09 09:34:00
No actual article yet, but at least we get a whole paragraph, albeit in one of the worst articles on Wikipedia, Denial of the Holodomor. The reference, written by a Ukrainian Nazi, excuse me, Ukrainian nationalist (I keep getting those two mixed up!) named Bandurist*, is pretty mean-spirited and snarky towards yours truly, but that's ok.Some Estonian Nazi, I mean Estonian nationalist (I keep getting those two mixed up!), was also influential in putting my name up in Wikipedia lights. Do I owe these guys or what?Although there is now a major effort to remove me as an "unreliable source".It looks like Ukrainian nationalists have taken over this Ukrainian Insurgent Army article. It's really disturbing the way so many articles on Wikipedia get "mysteriously" taken over by rightists of various varieties - libertarians, freemarketeers, Zionists and out and out fascists of all sorts of ugly breeds - Hindu Nazis, Ukrainian Nazis, on and on. Considering that Jimmy Wales is a rightwing extr...
Wikipedia on Hoxha and Stalin
2008-08-18 10:13:00
Nice job on the Wikipedia article on Enver Hoxha, hardline Communist leader of Albania until his death in 1985, whereupon he was succeeded by Ramiz Alia, who led the country to multiparty elections and a move to a market economy.Hoxha's record is definitely mixed, and when he died in 1985, there were permanent shortages of even the most basic foodstuffs. That doesn't seem like any way to run an economy. On the other hand, Albania had little trade, since Hoxha had alienated or been alienated from the entire capitalist world and most of the Communist Bloc, who, since Mao's death, he regarded as impure Communists or revisionists. I don't really go in for this autarchy stuff. There were quite a few significant accomplishments made during Hoxha's rule, which are outlined in the Wikipedia piece. The article previously was the predictable hatchet job, but a user named Mrdie did a nice job of fixing it.I really do not think than an encyclopedia, which is what Wikipedia claims to be, shou...
¡Cuidado Google!AFP
Did Senator McCain Lift Georgia Speech From Wikipedia?
2008-08-12 21:20:00
In the wake of the Russia, Georgia conflict we have a new small scandal involving the speech Senator John McCain gave on Tuesday calling for Russia's withdrawl from the former part of the Soviet Union. According to Taegan Goddard that may be so. This is what he reports at CQ Politics:A Wikipedia editor emailed Political Wire to point out some similarities between Sen. John McCain's speech today on the crisis in Georgia and the Wikipedia article on the country Georgia. Given the closeness of the words and sentence structure, most would consider parts of McCain's speech to be derived directly from Wikipedia.First instance:one of the first countries in the world to adopt Christianity as an official religion (Wikipedia)vs.one of the world's first nations to adopt Christianity as an official religion (McCain)Second instance:After the Russian Revolution of 1917, Georgia had a brief period of independence as a Democratic Republic (1918-1921), which was terminated by the Red Army inva...

Preguntas y respuestas
2008-08-12 14:04:00

Suicide instructions on Wikipedia

The following are among such techniques described in vivid detail: beheading, cutting oneself, drowning, suffocation, electrocution, use of explosives, hanging, vehicular impact, jumping from bridges and towers, drug abuse, inhaling and ingesting poisons, suicide by fire, stabbing, shooting, starvation and suicide attack. When WND contacted a representative of the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, she said, ?A site detailing the different methods someone could use to kill themselves could definitely be harmful to the public.? Wikipedia Jews Attack James Petras
2008-07-24 09:26:00
James Petras is a fine man of the Left who has long been interested in Latin America and especially revolutionary movements down there. He has long supported the FARC revolutionaries in Colombia (as does this blog) and lately he has been supporting the Movement of the Landless in Brazil. He's a great labor organizer who goes down to Latin America and works with the people, getting his hands dirty with the workers and peasants themselves. He's a towering intellect, and has often criticized Left movements from a Far Left perspectives, accusing them of being sellouts. For instance, he has gone after the FMLN in El Salvador lately for pursuing a half-hearted effort at reform.I believe he was going after Evo Morales in Bolivia lately. He's great for tearing the masks off these Latin American Leftists who the US press is screaming Commie Bloody Murder about, showing us that many of them are not even very far to the Left and the proposals they are offering are quite moderate and unlikely...
Wikipedia Jews Redux
2008-07-17 15:31:00
Updated July 19:I've been informed that the Wikipedia Jews (click the Wikipedia Jews category at the end of the post for more) have been successful, incredibly, at eliminating an entire Wikipedia category called Jewish Businesspeople. The list had 550 names on until a few days ago, and now it has zero. The Wikipedia Jews win again. The crusade to get rid of it was led by Jayjg, one of the Wikipedia Jews' top henchmen. Now the Wikipedia Jews are going after the list of Jewish Sportspeople. For what reason, I haven't the faintest idea.A little background. The Jewish Businessmen category was eliminated by the Wikipedia Jews in order to hide the truth about Jewish success in the US. Jews have been very successful in this country, and reportedly 50% of the richest Americans are Jewish. The Wikipedia Jews are trying to hide the story of Jewish success in America because it is common fodder for anti-Semites.All through the centuries in the ghettos of Europe, wanted Jewish criminals were ...

Well, I guess Wikipedia has really hit the bigtime when the diplomats and spy-types start trying to write it.This blog has obtained a secret copy of emblem of the Wikipedia Jews, used by them in internal communications via instant messenger and email to ward off spies and infiltration attempts. They make sly references to this motif throughout their communications with each other.
