Recensie: Benjamin Winter - The Wind Blows Way Up High
Battery is a wind up
2009-10-06 18:00:00 It is about time that there was some sort of change to the way that we use batteries and finally the designer Qian Jiang has come up with a brilliant idea that is so simple a lot of people would like to think that they could have thought of that. However, as ever, they did ...

Greening Mother Earth ? Home Scale Wind and Solar Energy Sources
2009-09-18 01:36:00 Greening mother earth is not only the concern of the big companies, corporations, organizations, as well as the superpowers. Greening mother earth is everyone?s responsibility. Everyone can contribute to save mother earth in their own significant way. One prime example is resorting to alternative sources of energy like the wind and sun. ...

what is the significance of all in "wind frequency distribution"
2009-09-05 08:59:00 Hello Friends I am new in the field of wind energy. Recently i encountered a wind frequency distribution chart. I could understand wind frequency distribution for specific direction but heading of last column, i.e. all has put me in a fix. Please help me to understand the significance and
types of wind turbine
2009-08-28 13:10:00 A wind turbine is an apparatus used for generating kinetic energy through the collection of mechanical energy that comes from the wind. Ahorizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) is a structure that stands straight up into the wind as the means for collecting the mechanical energy. This collection of

A Mighty Wind
2009-08-16 19:16:00 A few Sunday notes...The wind is blowing STRAIGHT OUT to CF during BP. And it's gusting hard. Could be "one of those days." They just took the flags down because it's blowing so hard.Ryan Theriot has a bad stomach virus that has him very dehydrated, requiring a trip to the ER (apparently the virus has been running through his family). He's out today and may not be ready for tomorrow night. Aaron Miles is in for him at SS.Also Alfonso Soriano and Jeff Baker are both getting a day off.Aramis Ramirez gets his first start in over a week. He pinch hit yesterday and singled in the 8th.Ted Lilly is slated to come off the DL tomorrow night in SD....
Wind power blowing in China
2009-08-13 06:00:00 "American Superconductor (NASDAQ: AMSC), a U.S.-based play on wind power, is benefiting from demand in China," says Brendan Coffey in The Cabot Green Investor."The Chinese wind market has powered American Superconductor to an excellent quarter -- its second surprise profitable quarter in a row, and that has turbocharged the shares today."AMSC posted net income for its first quarter of $1.8 million, or 4 cents a share, compared to expectations of a slight loss and the per-share loss of 14 cents in 2Q 2008."Drop out one-time items, and AMSC earned 12 cents a share -- an impressive result for a company that didn't ever post a profit until last quarter."Sales jumped 83% to $73 million. One adage in retail is that the best place to find more sales is with existing customers, and AMSC did just that -- much of its sales came from Sinovel, the leading China wind turbine company, which uses AMSC's designs and electrical components for its ...

What the Wind Blows
2009-08-13 02:19:00 Reflexive Orders of Awareness - A Schema Some examples should suffice to unpack the notion of reflexive orders. First Order awareness is automatic, and not directed. If you ever have driven a car and noted at some point that you ‘were on automatic,’ and then been amazed at this lack of consciousness about being a driver, you’re recalling what it feels like to be on automatic, in, as-it-were, First Order awareness. “I barely remember consciously driving to work today! I was thinking about something else, pre-occupied.” Second Order awareness adds to this awareness of what you are doing. A good example is learning how to ride a bike, where–at the beginning–the new rider has to consciously turn against the tilt out of balance. This is conscious attention paid to what you are doing. This awareness has a very narrow focus. It’s not optional. Third Order awareness adds to this additional modes for awareness. In the example of driving, thi...
Wind Power - Now and Then
2009-08-09 19:10:00 What is the difference between a modern day wind powered generating system and the windmills of old that were used to pump water, grind grain, etc? In other words, would an old windmill as was used on farms be as good as a modern windmill in generating electricity? What about the Dutch windmills? I

Blowin' in the Wind?

This would allow smaller units to produce the same power or the same size ones to generate more. Do you think this could h
Inside a Small Wind-Turbine Beta Test

T. Boone Pickens Lowers The Sails On Wind
2009-07-22 06:36:00 Last week, T. Boone Pickens announced he was selling 667 Wind Turbines. Due to the economy and drop in oil prices it’s just not economical to develop wind farms in the Texas panhandle. The wind energy market has lost a lot of it’s luster considering it can be much more expensive than traditional energy sources such as oil and with the price per barrel of oil dropping below $70 there’s just not as much interest putting together a wind energy project. The economics of alternative energy will be the driving force of innovation and technology. As long as the prices stay low, there won’t be much advancement in the alternative energy sector, but as oil prices increase, you will see many more technologies and innovation coming from alternative energy sources.

Brooklyn Industries now powered by wind
2009-07-20 23:41:00 When Brooklyn Industries opened their first location outside of New York in our very own Wicker Park last year, we were immediately smitten with their sweet window display: Decals of New York state and Illinois cozied up to one other, captioned with the phrase "We come in peace." The store's latest display featuring window borders woven from recycled handbags has also won our hearts both the creativity and earth-friendliness departments. But even cooler than that, we just found out that the store is now run with 100 percent wind power, just like Brooklyn Industries' New York stores. You won't find windmills on the roof, as is the case with the NYC stores, though. Rather, for 2009, the store has purchased...

High-Flying Kites Bring Wind Power To New Level
2009-07-03 21:27:00 "Warning: Energy Kites Ahead" might read the electronic transmissions to pilots... that is if some of the wind energy producers have their way. They're trying to put their "kites" at 30,000 feet or so to harness more wind energy. What would that mean to you? Oh, just reducing your energy bills from 11 cents per kilowatt hour to 2 to 4 cents per kilowatt hour. Did they just win your support?

The "trend shows a 10 percent drop or more over a
