Should we wait for Windows 7?
2008-06-05 19:02:00
With Windows 7 poised to begin testing private any time now and the end of the ship by 2009, many business users are wondering whether they should simply skip Windows Vista and all together, instead of waiting windows 7. White Paper - "Business Value of Windows Vista: five reasons to deploy now" - does not include many new data, instead, it again business functions built into Microsoft Vista and highlights some of the new tools for deployment and the case - study examples of companies which are transferred to Vista. But it does not offer Microsoft's official guidelines for Windows 7 deployment. Paper: “There is no need to wait for Windows 7. It is a goal of the Windows 7 release to ...

Windows 7 debuts at D6, includes Multi-touch!
2008-05-29 15:53:00
For years Microsoft has been investing in many forms of natural input in order to simplify the way people interact with their PC's and devices. The advent of the original Windows graphical user interface forever changed the way people used their PC's. Today, advances in pen and handwriting technology in Windows Vista offers students a natural and intuitive way to capture searchable notes and diagrams in the classroom. Others are using this technology to quietly capture pen based notes during meetings. Speech recognition, something which was once considered science fiction, is enabling many Windows Vista users to see, hear, and use their computers for the very first time. Last year, at the Wall Street Journal's D: All Things Digital conference, Bill Gates introduced a groundbreaking new computing experience called Surface. Surface harnesses touch and multi-touch capabilities to provide users with a natural way to interact directly with computing devices.  Expect to see the table-...

Microsoft higher-ups have officially confirmed their Windows 7 operating system (OS). It could be set for a release as early as Q4 2009. Windows 7 to Feature Multi-touch Interface
2008-05-29 08:21:00
After months of speculation, finally, Microsoft has disclosed some details about the next version of Windows after Vista dubbed "Windows 7" with the obvious highlight being a multi-touch interface. As per the information available, it appears that Windows 7 will boast multi-touch interface support. Last year, at Wall Street Journal's conference, "D: All Things Digital", Bill Gates introduced an all new concept in computing named "Surface". "Surface" exploits touch/multi-touch capabilities to provide users with a natural way to interact with computing devices. This year, Microsoft showcased how few of the multi-touch innovations previewed earlier would enhance Windows 7. The demonstration video posted on Microsoft Windows Client Communications Team Director Chris Flores' blog shows how a user can edit and manipulate photos with his fingertips, navigate a map, and play virtual piano. In his blog post, Flores wrote, "Touch is quickly becoming a common way of directly interacting with so...

New Windows 7 with Touch Screen
2008-05-29 00:05:00
New latest kid on the block is the Windows XP 7. No I mean Windows 7, supposedly the successor to Windows Vista. The Windows 7 will incorporate the graphical user interface to bring touch-screen technology to your pc or laptop. Very cool upgrade. Is the speed going to increase, and not be such a memory hog. I can dream can I not. You can now go to their blog and view a video demonstration of Windows 7 multitouch screen capabilities. Windows 7 multitouch software will enable you to use your fingers to draw pictures on-screen, zoom in and out of photos, zip quickly through slideshows, search and skim maps, and even play an on-screen piano on your desktop or laptop PC.  The multitouch features will be accessable via Windows 7 operating system and usable with third-party software.Cool, maybe this operating system will be faster and less hardware dependant.CheersCovering the latest cutting edge of Technology, Business, Internet trends,  Marketing, and Entertainment along with t...
New Dock Like Taskbar Coming in Windows 7?
2008-05-29 00:04:00
Some personse have noted a difference in the appearance of the Windows Taskbar in yesterdays demo of Windows 7 by Julie Larson-Green at the D6 | All Things Digital event. But I am not sure if its anything new except for a resizing of the present Windows Vista style Taskbar. Thom Holwerda over at OS News thinks otherwise: Quote: "The final interesting part was the rather odd-looking taskbar - assuming it even was a taskbar. The bar was twice as high as an ordinary taskbar, and lacked text, using what looked like icons or thumbnails instead. It reminded me of the RISC OS icon bar, mostly. Apparently, Larson-Green was not at liberty to discuss it, because when Mossberg asked her about it, she replied: "It's something we're working on for Windows 7 and I'm not supposed to talk about right now, today..." Read the entire article here Well, it certainly looks different with more transparency and bigger button icons when an active application is selected on the Taskbar. ...

Looking into Windows 7?s Prediction Pool
2008-05-28 21:08:00
Mary Jo Foley over at All About Microsoft is reinspecting the possibility of when Windows 7 will hit the market. Here's a snippet of what she had to say:   Quote:"It sounds like Microsoft is aiming to get Windows 7 out earlier than it promised ? at least if you believe the company?s CEO. During his fireside chat with Chairman Bill Gates at the D6 conference on May 27, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer acknowledged that Microsoft was aiming to deliver Windows 7 in late 2009." Read the entire article here My Thoughts: I am sticking to my prediction of February 2010. Microsoft will certainly give a Developer Preview of Windows 7 to attendees at the 2008 PDC for them to start getting ready with their applications as soon as possible. Microsoft has really straightened out their priorities when it comes to releasing Windows. As Steven Sinofsky mentioned, Windows Vista's unpredictability in addition to the reset kind of made IHV's and ISV's hesitate to start messing with Windows Vis...

Windows 7 confirmed for 2010
2008-05-28 16:48:00
Windows 7 confirmed for 2010 - The INQUIRER: "MICROSOFT has confirmed that Windows 7 will be with us ' sometime in 2010' and appears to have released screenshots into the blogsphere.A spokesvole said the release date of the successor to Windows Vista will ultimately be decided by, 'meeting the quality bar'. It is not the first time Microsoft has decided something in a good pub.Client versions of Windows 7 will ship in both 32-bit and 64-bit flavours. A server version with the original title of Windows Server 7, is also being looked at.The Vole is keeping deadly quiet about Windows 7 in case more punters decide that is probably worth waiting three years rather than buying the disappointing and lacklustre Vista. It also seems unlikely to want to promise the world and then have the embarrassment of having to pull all the functionality because it cannot get it to work."
