Detalles sobre Windows Home Server Power Pack
2008-05-22 15:55:00
Windows XP SP3 Update Breaks Windows Home Server Remote Access
2008-05-19 06:34:00
Windows Home Server users are reporting Remote Access problems after updating their home computers to Windows XP Service Pack 3. Following the update, attempting to access those home computers via Windows Home Server?s Remote Access features brings up a dialog asking the user to add their homeserver.com domain to the Trusted Sites list in Internet Explorer. However, after doing so, users are still not able to access those PCs. The issue arises due to security changes in XP SP3 - namely, that the Terminal Services ActiveX control in Internet Explorer is disabled by default. To resolve the issue, Microsoft Forums user ColinWH has published a workaround: Click on Tools -> Manage Add-Ons -> Enable or Disable Add-Ons in IE to enable the Terminal Services ActiveX control. If you are unable to see/enable the Terminal Services ActiveX control in IE7 on XPSP3 as a workaround can you try deleting the following registry keys: HKCUSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCur-rentVersionExtSettings{7390f3d.-..
Vista Sidebar Gadget for WHS (Windows Home Server) users
2008-05-03 21:32:00
The Home Server Hacks blog has just announced a new Windows Vista Sidebar gadget just for Windows Home Server users. This gadget, called "ShareMaster for Home Server," gives you quick access to the Windows Home Server's standard shared folders (Music, Photos, Public, Software, Users and Videos). The gadget has six icons on it that correspond to those six shared folders on the server. Clicking an icon on the gadget will open up that network shared folder. What's even cooler, though, is that you can drag and drop files onto the icons themselves to automatically move them from your PC to your Home Server. That's handy! This is definitely a must-have tool for any Windows Home Server owners. You can download the gadget from here. (image via Home Server Hacks) Source Taimur Asad (The Microsoft "Wow" Blog!)

No quick fix for Windows Home Server bug
2008-03-23 02:02:00
Back in December, Microsoft dutifully notified the (few) people using its Windows Home Server software that a bug in the product could corrupt files. Typically, when Microsoft posts a bulletin outlining specific problems in its products, as it did in this case, a fix is usually right around the corner. Not so for Windows Home Server. ...

Windows Home Server ?Vail? to get more entertainment hooks
2008-02-26 23:16:00
While Microsoft has shared some details (and code) for its upcoming minor update to Windows Home Server, it has said next to nothing about the next major version. (Like the rest of the Windows client and server teams, the Home Server team is alternating between ?major? and ?minor? releases with its rollouts.) I?ve tracked down (thanks to sources) a couple of new bits, however. The next major version of Windows Home Server is codenamed ?Vail,? I hear. And Vail is going to include more entertainment ?capabilities.? What that means, precisely, I don?t know. Does it mean Windows Home Server will somehow become one with Windows Media Center? Again, not sure. Last year, in response to a question about Microsoft?s plans to integrate (or continue to keep separate) Windows Home Server and Windows Media Center, Todd Headrick, WHS Product Planner said: ?Time will tell ? and please don?t infer that ?time will tell? means yes. There are a tremendous number of complex issues that need to be res...

Windows Home Server Power Pack Announced
2008-01-08 01:44:00
A new update for Windows Home Server was announced last night at CES. The update, called Power Pack 1 (formerly code named UR1) will ship in the first half of 2008 and hit servers via Windows Update. This update will include new Home Server connector software (this is the systray app that connects your computer to the Home Server), and the ability to backup your Home Server (for offsite storage for example), and several other new features.  Todd Headrick from the Home Server team invited us over to see all the new features and talk a little bit about Home Server. We'll connect with that team again while we're here and check out some of the Home Server hardware. Taimur Asad (The Microsoft "Wow" Blog!)

The next step at home: Windows Home Server
2007-11-06 17:03:00
One of the big challenges we face all the time is how to control one of these growing networks at home. How shall I help my neighbors to actually manage their growing environment with different PCs (one per parent and one per kid and a mediacenter and, and, and)? I assume that you know that feeling. I do not say (yet) that all the problems are solved but at least we did one significant step with a product we call Windows Home Server - a server version (as OEM version) targeted to the above described scenarios. Definitely something to look at and something that will help us in the future to help our friends and family to manage their environment in a secure, safe and easy way. Here is the blog of the Windows Home Server team: http://blogs.technet.com/homese-rver/ Here is the demo: http://www.microsoft.com/window-s/products/winfamily/windowshom-eserver/demo/index.html And here is the product page: http://www.microsoft.com/window-s/products/winfamily/windowshom-eserver/default.mspx Roger

The photos you?re about to see have come from Sebastian Kuback from winfuture.de - they have a full photo gallery, as well as videos from the event which are well worth checking out.
