Let The Trade Winds Blow
2009-07-16 07:43:00
My friend, Fox Sports baseball analyst Ken Rosenthal has the latest news on the Roy Halladay trade rumors. He doesn't think the Sox have a shot for him because they won't trade Gordon Beckham (nor should they) but that doesn't mean the Sox don't have their eyes on one of his teammates.Like I said a few days ago, Carlos Quentin is no sure thing for this year or at least until he has surgery to permanently repair the foot tendon issue. You need insurance, and pulling this deal off, also finally solves the Sox center field issue beginning in 2010. ...

Trade Winds Swirling
2009-05-25 23:08:00
The Giants have been a hot topic on the MLB rumor mill lately, as they've been mentioned as having interest in a few hitters that may become available over the next 8 weeks. There was also a rumor started this weekend that had the Giants shopping Matt Cain in order to find that bat they desperately need.Giants fans can take a breath of fresh air, because Matt Cain isn't going anywhere anytime soon. A Giants executive shot down the notion of shopping Cain immediately and said the story had no merit to it. I didn't really see any logic in shopping Cain anyway. He'e arguably been the teams most consistent starter this season (sorry Tim Lincecum) and at 24 years of age, hasn't come close to peaking. Cain isn't going anywhere and even with guys like Alderson and Bumgarner a year or 2 away, the Giants aren't quite as deep with starting pitchers as some make them out to be. They're comfortable, but to say they have an abundance of young starting pitching wouldn't be accurate. Whil...
WINDS OF CHANGE
2008-11-05 15:58:00
It's with satisfaction that I, Cochise, write here, in APACHE, that BARAK OBAMA is the new President of United States of America. I confess he was my favourite candidate. I hope he?ll become a good president and nation leader, better than his antecessor. May the Light of The Great Spirit shine upon him.

handling shifting winds
2008-10-11 16:17:00
Saturday 11: The discipline of all those years of spiritual and mind exercises have been kicking in recently, to counteract the effects of the economic storm clouds. (Even a hermit would not be immune at the moment!) It does work, certainly in providing mental equilibrium, and definitely in keeping fear thoughts at bay. But I would ...
Winds Of Change Burning Obama
2008-09-15 20:04:00
What kind of an alternative universe are we living in when it comes to these conclusions: - McCain-Palin looks like the optimistic, forward-thinking ticket while Obama-Biden looks like the mean, bitter, Washington insiders. Whoda thunk? - Obama’s pledge of “post-partisan” has vanished quicker than $3.00 gasoline under a Democratic Congress. He is now quickly ...
Winds of change: Turn on the FAN
2008-09-05 07:00:00
"Both presidential candidates are voicing their support for wind power," says growth stock expert Toby Smith (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2332). In his top-notch ChangeWave Investing (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2332), he looks at an ETF for the sector."Giant turbines are appearing in the broadcast advertisements of the two campaigns more than any other image besides the candidates themselves."Even Mayor Bloomberg of New York jumped into the act by presenting images of turbines on bridges and buildings. "In any case, the momentum in the wind sector -- like the solar power sector -- is real. Echoing the results of our December 2007 survey, solar is the sector experiencing the most rapid growth."However, wind has surged since the last survey and shows the most momentum going forward and our research findings compel us to move more aggressively in the direction of the currents. "On that basis, an effective way to participate in the growth...

?Lifelong Conservative? Throwing all Principles to The Winds and Voting for
2008-07-17 18:49:00
-By Warner Todd Huston Larry Hunter claims he is a “lifelong conservative.” Yet, in his recent New York Daily News article, he also says he is voting for Barack Obama for president. The two simply cannot coexist. One has to be obliterated in favor of the other. And, regardless of the facile reasoning Hunter gives ...

Political winds favor Global Alternative Energy (GEX)
2008-07-08 05:00:00
'Despite their differences, both John McCain and Barack Obama can agree on one thing: America needs more alternative energy, and fast," observe Ron Rowland and Brandon Clay (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2151). In their excellent Invest With an Edge (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2151), they ask, "How do you profit from the growing demand in energy and the political push for alternative sources?" Their answer: Market Vectors Global Alternative Energy (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=gex) (NYSE: GEX (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=gex))."This exchange-traded fund fund capitalizes on both the underlying fundamentals of energy demand and the attention towards non-oil sources of energy."Plus, GEX invests in both U.S. and international companies: it’s a global play on a global problem. Why else would you consider buying GEX?"First off, GEX plays on the whole gambit of alternative energy. From solar, to ...
Near Hurricane Force Winds Today
2008-06-05 05:28:00
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 4Don’t forget to check my Thursday Thirteen.  I did a history of political TV commercials.  Today the wind is sustained at 45MPH.  We are having near hurricane force gusts of at least 65MPH.  My Durango is rocking back and forth in the driveway.  There are indications we’re getting a fire in Mescalero.  There’s also a nasty one in Artesia.   The worst part of this is the deadly weather that is spawned here and turns into tornados farther east. Did I mention we did not go to Las Cruces yesterday?  The appointment was changed until today.  ...

1. Wednesday last week find out I have a sick Grandmother. She had a fall. 2. Thursday morning last week I decide to become “New Zealand and Australia Escort” 3. Thursday afternoon last week (amid packing to come North) shit hits fan with Paul. 4. Shortly thereafter Im driving North somewhat homeless. Another day in the life of Sally. Its now Tuesday. Grandmother is on the mend. The xrays I took her for on Friday showed 2 fractures in her spine. Shes also had serious stomach problems. I was able to to spend plenty of time with her until yesterday morning when I woke up with my own dreaded lurgy. Now we’re both feeling sorry for ourselves and I need to keep my distance so she doesnt add what Ive go to her list of ailments. Ive set up the phone in my room so we can chat though . I dearly love my Grandmother. At nearly 95yo the reality of her not being with us for too much longer is getting closer to home. She’s decided she’d like to be around another 2 ...

Lost Winds Coming to WiiWare
2008-04-22 06:03:00
First previewed at this year's Game Developers Conference, Lost Winds will be a title to watch out for on the Wii in the upcoming months. Although I'm totally looking forward to the much hyped Grand Theft Auto IV, I do like a nice, friendly Nintendo game to have some fun with. Lost Winds has you playing as Taku as you navigate your way through the world of Mistralis. In this world, you are trying to find and piece together shards of a spirit stone with the help of the wind called Enril, which you also have control over. Using the nunchuck to direct Taku, and the Wiimote to aim Enril's breezes, you not only help Taku jump, but can push over rocky obstacles, light torches and spray water.

Winds of War: Can The Koran Be Reformed?
2008-03-24 17:14:00
From The Gathering Storm Blog Robert Spencer said that Islam can not be reformed until the Koran itself is reformed. SOUTH WINDS AND MIND PROBLEMS!
2008-03-20 17:52:00
The wind is from the south and it has blown all day like a warm jetstreem bringing a cloud of sand from Africa. The problem is with this wind it seems to get inside your head and you just want it to go away.Well, that's my excuse anyway. I suppose my thick head could just be due to the amount of wine that I consumed yesterday (but we'll not go there). Shame really because the day started out really healthily with a banana and a walk to Neapolis. But then we had lunch (Gilly and Vanessa) and of course a glass of wine (or maybe 2) and feeling jolly when we returned to Vrahassi we joined Littlelegs and one or two others on the mountain edge to sample Lefteris own, very potent, sort of white, wine. (Big mistake!).Of course I didn't sleep too good last night and suffered today, but I have been working and now it is almost time to make tea and hopefully watch a good film. George has been painting the bar and I have been trying to clean everything in site. David has been plumbing in the...

Winds of War: Jihadis Using Foreign Phone Networks
2008-03-01 17:08:00
From The Gathering Storm Blog If the lapse in the extension by Pelosi of the Protect America Act that was passed last August to allow U.S. intelligence agencies to monitor foreigner-to-foreigner communications without a warrant, we have this to worry about. COUNTER-TERRORISM agencies fear that local extremists are increasingly using mobile phones connected to overseas networks to thwart investigators and spread hardline propaganda. Agents from Victoria Police and ASIO are investigating the sale of mobile phones within Melbourne’s Somali community that are being used to receive al-Qa’ida-linked motivational videos of Islamic extremists torturing and beheading “infidels”. The connection of mobiles to overseas networks is frustrating police as bugging telephones has been a good method of tracking and infiltrating suspected extremists. The Weekend Australian understands the mobile phones are being sold at some hardline Islamic prayer halls and mosques in Melbourne for ...

They are looking for images not just of the original Tower of the Winds but of any and every eight-sided building you can find, preferably as an octagonal two storey tower. The book won't be published for some time so any payment will be a long way away in the future. As a result we've classed this as a Picture Request rather than a Picture Call, and of course there's no real deadline, so we're asking for the end of the year. The architecture of the Tower of the Winds has inspired copies all over the Western world, and maybe also the East, and ...
Eric Burdon & The Animals - Winds Of Change [1967]
2008-02-06 19:14:00
Winds of Change opened the psychedelic era in the history of Eric Burdon & the Animals ? although Burdon's drug experiences had taken a great leap forward months earlier with his first acid trip, and he and the group had generated some startlingly fresh-sounding singles in the intervening time, it was Winds of Change that plunged the group headfirst into the new music. The record was more or less divided into two distinctly different sides, the first more conceptual and ambitious psychedelic mood pieces and the second comprised of more conventionally structured songs, although even these were hard, mostly bluesy and blues-based rock, their jumping-off point closer to Jimi Hendrix than Sonny Boy Williamson. The band's new era opened with waves washing over the title track, which included sitar and electric violin, while Burdon's voice, awash in reverb, calmly recited a lyric that dropped a lot of major names from blues, jazz, and rock. "Poem by the Sea" was a recitation by Bur...
