Planning a trip to wine country and other affairs
2007-11-01 01:36:00 I'm looking forward to Friday and the weekend. Hubby's taken Friday off, and we're jetting off in the two-seater on a road trip to Traverse City, Michigan. We've reserved two very different types of accommodation for the two nights that we'll be there and have saved the best for last. Don't want to give the game away, but will post about it after we get back.On a separate note, I was busy collating all my documents in order to transfer a valid visa from an expired passport onto a new passport. To make matters more complicated, the visa is in my maiden name whereas my new passport reflects my married one, so I hope that that will not delay things. We're hoping to visit India this January and I am really stoked about that. Filling the forms was not fun. I am probably going into downtown Chicago tomorrow, to get this over and done with.Anyway, if you've been to Traverse City, drop me a line. It is about a 6 hour drive from where we are in Northern Illinois, and I expect...

Serving Wine From Wine Country
2007-07-06 16:46:00 Once you are done with purchasing different wine from vineyards of wine country you must purchase wine glasses accordingly for your home to keep up the memory intact for years. Whether it's huge and circular with a wide mouth, or tall, thin and differently shaped, a wine glass is a vessel designed to augment wine appreciation. The main purpose of the glass is to hold liquid. At some places you can also find wine glasses to be like a jelly jar. This is rural and easy, and for many wines this will do very well.Reason for purchasing different wine glasses:⢠The one who loves the wine will surely twirl the glass to enjoy the aroma. If the mouth of the glass is widened and the size is large then it's easy to collect aroma. So for the wines with the majority to proffer by the specialty of aroma, a larger glass, 12 ounces or more is best. Since the quantity of wine might be too much just fill half of the glass. You can easily avail these glasses at wine country.⢠Tall and tapered gla...

One day in the El Dorado wine country
2007-04-22 22:32:00 Yesterday our good friends and neighbors had rented a limo and invited us to come along for a day of wine tasting in Shenandoah Valley (45 min from Sacramento, CA). I am not the one to decline such an invitation and after accepting I was told that I was in charge for the itinerary. This is how our day panned out.We started of with a visit to Villa Toscano. I had been there before and really enjoy their wine and the beautiful architecture and surrounding garden. Being after noon we were all starving and started with a meal from their Gourmet Bistro. We all shared a mix of freshly baked pizza, salad, panini, anti pasto mix, cheese and crackers. You can enjoy it at a table in their garden or in the big tent they have set up in it. And so it was time for tasting... They poured around 15 wines + four futures right out of the barrels. They produce chardonnay, viognier, sauvignon blanc, sangiovese, barbera, merlot and several bottlings of zinfandel. Although all the wines showed very well ...
