As always, Brubaker served up another quality read with Captain America #38. I already praised this book enough in my review. Suffice it to say that when it comes to consistency it is tough to beat what Brubaker has delivered in the past thirty-eight issues on Captain America.Fantastic Four #557 was another good read. Now, I don?t find Millar and Hitch?s run on Fantastic Four to rival what they did over on the Ultimates. However, that doesn?t mean that it isn?t still a class effort. 2008-05-09 18:12:00 Much of my childhood (and let's face it; adulthood) has been spent in front of the TV. Every Saturday morning I would wake up, usually after having a sleepover with my best friend at the time, Carl, and I would watch FOX Kids Saturday morning cartoons. There were some good ones, but my favorite was always the X-Men cartoon show. Not too long ago, the WB attempted to resurrect an X-Men cartoon with 'X-Men: Evolution'. I don't even know if it survived to the second season, but suffice it to say, the show got canceled. Well Marvel is giving it another get-go, with "Wolverine and the X-Men". By the looks of the trailer below, it appears to be aimed at the new generation of X-Men fans, showing team rosters and story lines typically found in Astonishing X-Men and New X-Men. We have always known that there are wolverines in the national forests of mountainous central and northern Idaho and there are some sightings in the Hell's Canyon area of the Snake River along the Oregon/Idaho border, but I was not aware of any recent sightings in the Colombian Plateau of Idaho until I read this article.The terrain in King Hill, Idaho. Not exactly prime wolverine habitat, but wolverines have been road-killed and trapped in similar locales recently in Wyoming, Oregon and Utah.However, recent sightings and roadkilled wolverines in similar habitat in the West in Utah, Oregon and Wyoming indicate that wolverines do use such habitats, possibly especially when dispersing.This wolverine was actually sitting on a telephone pole in the middle of the day near a small town!A wolverine got stranded on a telephone pole in King Hill, Idaho on March 25 of this year. Young X-Men Prequel Being Written by Josh Schwartz Already?!
2008-05-03 16:12:00 Although all eyes are on the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine, apparently that's not the only X-Men move in the works. After X-Men 3 hit theaters a few summers ago, reports about the future of the franchise included three distinct films: Wolverine, Magneto, and a young X-Men. As of this year, I believed the only active one was Wolverine, but alas I was wrong, as far as I can tell. An interview over at BlackBook with Gossip Girl writer Josh Schwartz recently revealed that he is indeed writing the screenplay for the young X-Men prequel. And if that news isn't enough, Schwartz takes it upon himself to actually diss the upcoming Incredible Hulk and misunderstand Transformers fans all in one. While I'd like to hold out hope and say that this new X-Men movie could maybe turn out better than X-Men 3, it really doens't sound like this guy knows what he's doing. 2008-04-13 10:16:00 The first wolverine detected in California in 86 years, photographed at a camera station at Sagehen Creek near Lake Tahoe on February 28, 2008, has now been shown to be not from either California or Washington.Scientists located wolverine scat near where the photo was shot and analyzed it for genes. A single gene was sequenced, the wolverine was shown to be a male, and the gene has been reported only from wolverines in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. It is also found in southern Canada.The only conclusion possible is that the wolverine is from the Rocky Mountains and is not a native California wolverine. No one has any idea how it got to California. 2008-03-23 11:11:00 Following up on our earlier post on the first positive detection of a California wolverine since 1922, that sighting led an interagency group of researchers on an intensive hunt for wolverines in the area, and that hunt has now revealed an incredible two new photos of wolverines in the area north of Tahoe.A side view of a wolverine in a photo from 10 days ago probably taken within 15-20 miles of the original photo location at Sagehen Creek in the Tahoe National Forest. That is a hair trap that used to have some bait on it, but the bait was eaten by some other animal. The photo indicates that this is a wolverine all right. It can't be anything else.It is not known if the three photos depict one, two or three separate wolverines, but this is great news.The interagency team consisted of researchers from the Forest Service, California Department of Fish and Game and Katie Moriarty, the Oregon State University grad student who took the original shot. 2008-03-07 09:54:00 In stunning news, researchers at Oregon State University snapped a photo of a California Wolverine (Gulo luscus luteus) north of Lake Tahoe between Truckee and Sierraville in the Tahoe National Forest.A photo of the first California Wolverine documented since 1922. This wild region where they were found in being proposed as a wilderness area by Senator Barbara Boxer. The photo shows the wolverine from the rear view. It is probably next to a Red Fir. In the background is what appears to be a White Fir and the tree in the foreground looks like some kind of pine.
