Word processing need
2009-09-14 10:38:00
I have a transcription of some geographical journals, which need to be edited and formatted. I am looking out for somebody with excellent skills in word processing. I need someone with knowledge in MS Word, Excel, etc I would like the fonts re-sized and text broken down into paragraphs etc. I have done a few us but this has proved far too time consuming for me due to my lack of word processing skills. Some of the things that need to be done:Chapter headings to be given clearly in words and not in numbers.Text to be split into paragraphs and headings to be resized.Pages numbered relevantly.Illustrations to be shown in the appropriate places.A spell-check.

Occasionally we have to make use of subscripts or superscripts in our documents. The most common use of these is with dates, as in 20th. There the 'th' is a superscript; that is, smaller text that is raised. Subscripts are most often used in technical ...

Keyboard shortcut of the week: The Case of MS Word
2008-03-31 17:24:00
When using a word processor it is quite common to forget that that the CapsLock key has been left on, or you might decide that a piece of text looks better in capital letters (also known as upper case: small letters are known as lower case).Thankfully ...

Keyboard shortcuts of the week: Faster word processing
2007-09-05 18:55:00
Do you wish to be able to use your word processor more quickly? Do you want to be able to edit a piece of text without having to reach for the mouse every few minutes? Then this week's mega-selection of keyboard shortcuts are for you. They should work in any text editor on Windows, whether a word processor or a comments box on a web page. I have included a text box as part of this article so you can play around with the various key combinations. For those interested, the text in the box is the opening paragraph of Candide by Voltaire. We will start with quick navigation links. The Home key will move the cursor to the beginning of the line (on most keyboards this key is in a collection of 6 keys located above the cursor keys). The End key will, unsurprisingly, move the cursor to the end of the line.If you hold down Ctrl and press Home, the cursor will move to the beginning of the document. Ctrl and End will take the cursor to the end of the document. The Page Up and Page Down keys do '...

WYSYWIG Word Processing in the Browser with Aspose.Editor
2007-05-10 16:38:00
Have you checked Aspose.Editor - our word processing control for Windows Forms and ASP.NET? I'm proud to announce that the latest version of Aspose.Editor runs seamlessly in Internet Explorer so you can build ASP.NET applications that feature WYSIWIG editing of Microsoft Word documents in the browser. Forget about using HTML editors to edit Microsoft Word documents - it ain't gonna work. Use a specialized control that's been designed exactly for Microsoft Word documents. Here is how it looks. When loading the demo page it might take some time as the the .NET assembly is being downloaded to your computer (around 2mb). Then you might have to go through the security prompts that will give the assembly permissions to execute. The demo comes preloaded with several sample documents listed on the left. Double clicking on the document will load it for editing in the editor window on the right (the very first document to load might take a few seconds, others load very fast). You can upl...
Top word processing mistakes
2007-03-13 18:40:00
I have seen many people while they are word processing make popular mistakes that make their document look untidy and unprofessional, this post is going to outline some of these and describe what should be done in order to correct them. Headings: In my opinion no headings should be underlined, center aligned or in italics, they should always be formatted as right aligned, bold and slightly bigger than the main body text but without manually formatting them unless you are using a word processor that does not have them predifined. Microsoft Office Word has a nifty feature enabling you to quickly select the heading style, saving you time and effort, use it. Paragraphs: In word processing, anything about paragraphs that your English teacher has told you should be forgotten, except punctuation, of course. Indents is what I am talking about, no paragraphs should be indented- it makes the place look untidy - and there is actually no need for a lump of white space before the text, it just ...
U3 Software: Atlantis Portable Word Processing for U3
2007-03-10 18:11:01
Atlantis is carving out a name for themselves with non-Microsoft word processing software. I’ve used the software and I like it. Atlantis is taking a more social approach to their software. You’ve got plugins to download and easy integration of audio and video. Recently Atlantis made their Word Processing portable for U3 flash drives. I think most of us can agree there is a love-hate relationship between Microsoft applications and having to use them. Don’t get me wrong, I’m impressed with Microsoft, I couldn’t have done what Bill did. But the fact is, most of us get trapped into using their software because it’s at home, at work and everywhere else. But, Atlantis U3 portable word processing software chips away at that notion. Since there is a strong bond between owner and UFD devices, the U3 platform creates a powerful and portable way to keep things close to us which are dear to us. Even if you get techy and apply that concept to say, wo...

Hello there!!! Virtual Ubiquity is bulding 1st Web Word Processor, and using Flex technology. Web-based word processors add collaboration and remote access to Microsoft Word, but little else. Often, their makers claim stripping down Word for the web is a selling point ? they say complicated functions would be better left to a desktop app. But Boston-based ...
