First Impressions of Oscar Contender Bullhead By Writer/Director Michael Ro
2012-02-03 01:27:00 The film business is not an easy one. Mostly what the audience sees has been preordained by the big studios, big budgets, big name stars, and big clout with the distributors and movie theater chains. There is little room for the indie film maestro. However once in a great while an Indie film maker does ...

Direct From CASTLE Con 2011: Creator Andrew Marlowe and Writer Terri Miller
2011-11-16 18:58:00 By: Michelle Carlbert This past Saturday (November 12, 2011), a special thing happened in sunny (actually make that rainy) southern California. A bunch of Castle fans got together for the Castle Fan Charity Convention 2011. The convention was put on by CastleTV.net along with the help of the California Browncoats. All of the proceeds from the convention went to the charities chosen by the guests – including Seamus Dever, Jon Huertas (who play Ryan and Esposito on the show), as well as creator/writer Andrew Marlowe and writer Terri Miller. Not scheduled to appear that day was Tamala Jones (who plays Lanie on the series), but that didn’t stop her from dropping by and joining in on the fun. I got the chance to chat with each of the guests backstage, where we discussed each of the charities they were there to support. We also talked about their characters, what we might expect from upcoming episodes, and what goes into shooting an episode of CASTLE. Here is a little more ...

Evil Confederate, German, Nazi, Racists Invades Mind of The Atlantic Writer
2011-06-03 20:00:00 -By Warner Todd Huston The Atlantic's Yoni Appelbaum has a troubled little mind. He seems to be an excitable sort, too. I say this because during this 150th anniversary of the American Civil War he strangely sees evil Confederate, German, Nazi, racists at Civil War events. He might want to see a therapist about this. Either that or he's just another left-wing writer that is striving so hard to find something, anything, to write about that he's put aside common sense and instead decided to illicitly impute any manner of absurd motivations to Germany's Civil War reenactors. You know, because he wants to be considered the thoughtful type, because this sort of tripe is what passes for intellectualism in journalism....

How honest should an auto writer be?
2011-03-17 13:12:00 So, an interesting thing happened yesterday in the auto writing world. One of my colleagues in Detroit quit because the editors at his paper told him to tone down a review of the all-new Chrysler 200. At least that's what we think happened. Neither the paper nor the journalist are commenting. But it didn't stop Jalopnik from running with a story titled: How the Detroit News sold its soul.Whether the writer quit because of this or something completely unrelated, I think this whole issue brings up a valid point: How honest should an auto writer be? Seriously. I want you to tell me.I posted this to my blog fan page, and the Midwest Automotive Media Association fan page ... but few...

I Will Be a Writer.
2010-10-15 13:10:00 There are many things I enjoy the idea of doing often more than actually doing them. Writing is one of them, in a way. Forsgate Country Club hosts golf writers with third annual Writer Cup Tourn
2010-07-28 23:12:00 Tomorrow marks the third annual "Writer Cup", a tradition begun by Forsgate Country Club to celebrate golf writers of the MET/GAP regions. There are two courses at Forsgate CC, the Banks and Palmer Courses. We're invited to play the historic Banks Course which is lush and deeply bunkered as compared to the Palmer Course which is laden with water hazards. I prefer sand to water any day on a golf course! Designed in 1931 by Charles ?Steamshovel? Banks, the Banks Course is a par 71 which stretches to 6,844 yards from the tournament tees and is a true test of skills for the above average golfer. This is probably why I'll stick with the forward tees during this tournament! Here are some recent accolades about Forsgate Country Club: Jersey Golfer Winter 2006 Magazine ranked the Banks Golf Course at Forsgate Country Club #10 among the top 50 Best Golf Courses in the state of New Jersey. "The Met Area's Top 50 Courses", The Met Golfer, April 2007 "The Best of Northeast Golf"; 200...
A Mystery Writer Has a Sale
2010-07-16 04:37:00 Chicago writer, Sharon Fiffer, likes shopping yard sales almost as much as the heroine of her books, Jane Wheel. Jane's a picker, like those two guys on the History channel show---she shops the secondhand market on behalf of clients. Both Jane and Sharon are drawn to bakelite buttons, old sewing kits and mostly the stories behind the things they find. This weekend, Sharon's having what she calls a pocket-sized flea market, rummage sale and garage sale all rolled into one. She's downsizing some of her collections of furniture, antiques, kitchenalia, bakelite, flower frogs, vintage American pottery, records, books, art, crafts. I stopped by her garage on Thursday to give you a preview of Sharon's sale. It's on for Friday, July...

Wash Post Forgets to Mention that Writer Is Obama Operative
2010-07-03 17:00:00 -By Warner Todd Huston Ron Brynaert has a story over at his The Raw Story blog that reveals yet another denizen of the Old Media that is trying to be both a "journalist" and an official operative of Barack Obama's White House. She is Patricia McGinnis, an unpaid advisor at the White House and also one of the contributors to the Post's "On Leadership" blog. Once again we see the Old Media working hand-in-hand with the Obama administration and putting the lie to the idea of the "independent journalist" in traditional media outlets, this time with the Washington Post. Even worse than this collusion, though, is the fact that the Washington Post somehow forgot to mention that its writer is...
Alexandra Nagel. A Seminal Writer On Sathya Sai Baba, A Guru Accused
2010-07-02 22:35:00 Rapidly, from around the world, there was an upthrust of allegation and counter-allegation. Apart from material often by non-writers, there was serious, sustained, analytical work. After the watershed first two to three years of internet exposure of Sathya Sai Baba and his sect, others than the Dutch former devotee academic writer Alexandra Nagel, like Robert Priddy, Brian Steel, Timothy Conway Ph.D., and myself took issues to many other levels, but certainly Ms Nagel's writing was seminal, and it would be a pity to see it neglected. (Her M.A. thesis deals with aspects of the History of Western Esotericism). Though she has dealt with internet issues, she herself has not had a blogsite or website. Robert Priddy, Brian Steel, Timothy Conway have long had extensive websites. The the former two have blogsites, and I have this one, 'Call For Media and Government Investigation of Sathya Sai Baba'. See: A Guru Accused. Sai Baba, from Avatar to Homo-paedophile. Alexandra H. M. Nagel. ...
