2008-02-02 11:50:00 Yukon is a 7 year old, 110 lb great dane/am staff mix. He is an absolute love! He is super friendly and calm. Despite his size he thinks he is a lap dog. He likes to play with basketballs and rope toys. Sometimes he can be a bit clumsy and may not notice that he knocks things over with his tail. He is on a special diet for his skin allergies. He has been exposed to other dogs and kids of all ages. He isn't a fan of cats though.We met Yukon currently being cared for by Animal Rescue League of Southern Rhode Island in South Kingstown, Rhode Island. The ARL/SRI operates as a "limited admission" shelter. Some may refer to this as a "no kill" shelter. They do not euthanize animals just to make room to take in more animals. Consequently, they may sommetimes have a waiting list for dog surrenders and usually have a waiting list for cat surrenders.For more information about Yukon, click here!

EPA makes it official: 2008 Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon hybrids get 21 mpg
2007-12-12 06:05:00 In September, GM announced their official MPG numbers for the new 2008 Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon hybrids. The EPA has now posted the official government verdict, and the numbers match what GM announced. The two large hybrids share official EPA estimates: The 2WD versions get 21 city, 22 highway (21 combined) while the 4WD versions get 20 mpg in all those categories. You can find EPA's pages for the Tahoe hybrids here and the Yukon hybrids here. For comparison, the non-hybrid 2008 GMC Yukon 1500 2WD gets between 11 and 14 mpg in the city and 15 and 20 mpg on the highway (depending on engine type, fuel and how many speeds the transmission has). VIDEO: Driving the GMC Yukon Two-Mode Hybrid
2007-10-01 16:00:00 At the 2008 GM Collection event the other day, we had another opportunity to drive the new GMC Yukon Two-Mode Hybrid this time in pretty much finished form. There weren't any surprises and it behaved largely as it did during our first drive last spring. This time though we were able to photograph and shoot some video of the ride as Chris Shunk and John Neff from Autoblog joined me. As before, the hybrid SUVs remain remarkably quiet whether the engine was running or not and transitions between electric-only, four-cylinder and eight-cylinder modes were completely seamless. Shortly after this ride we did find out the official EPA mileage numbers for the GM hybrids would be 21/22 mpg city/highway according to the new 2008 test procedures. 2007-09-27 15:50:00 With the launch of GM's full-size SUVs with the Two-Mode hybrid system less than two months away, a lot of questions about the vehicles work have already been answered. However, two big questions have remained unanswered: the official mileage numbers from the EPA and the price. We still don't know how much GM is going to charge for the Tahoe and Yukon hybrids. But the official mileage numbers are being announced by GM at the Texas State Fair. According to the revised EPA procedures for 2008, they will get 21 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway. That compares to 14/20 for the conventional models with the 5.3L V-8 and two-wheel-drive. The four wheel drive hybrids get 20/20 ratings compared to the conventional models 11/14 mpg ratings. Those city numbers compare quite favorably to non-hybrid mid-sized sedans like the Toyota Camry and Pontiac G6 with a four cylinder engine. The Camry is rated at 21 mpg and the G6 is 22 mpg. The old Yukon needed an update and I believe General Motors did it justice, but most say it has to grow on them. The flip and fold second row seats dont seem to be impressing shoppers at this time, but the ride is definitely nice. If a customer takes a test drive, the look of the Yukon gets much better. I believe that in time everyone will enjoy the new look as much as they did the old model. |
