2007-06-17 21:28:00 UFC is invading Belfast, Northern Ireland this weekend (June 16, 2007) as they hold UFC 72: Victory at The Odyssey. UFC 72 is the third event to be held in Europe and the UK, joining UFC 38 in 2002 (Royal Albert Hall in London, England) and UFC 70 in 2007 (MEN Arena in Manchester, England). Honestly, though, UFC 72 doesn?t look as appealing on paper compared to the more recent UFC showings, but who knows, UFN 10 didn?t look appealing either and it ended up being a solid event. UFC 72: Victory RESULTS
2007-06-17 20:00:00 Apparently UFC 72 wasn?t just unimpressive on paper. Last night?s UFC 72 event in Belfast, Northern Ireland could have easily been labeled one of the worst UFC cards to date. With a non sellout crowd, the event began with some exciting fights, followed with lackluster performances and topped off with a poorer performance at the main event, between Rich Franklin and Yushin Okami. I truly feel for those who paid for an event that should have been aired on SpikeTV. Last week's Ultimate Fight Night 10 deserved that PPV spot more than UFC 72 did.Ben and my predictions were all dead on when it came with the winners, but as far as way of win, Ben was the only one who predicted the Griffin-Guida decision correctly. Maybe next time. 2007-06-14 03:11:00 I had myself a caddyshack night when my computer was zapped during a lightening storm. The result is I've lost a lot of data and my ability to get to most of the net. I have minimal access from a work computer, but we have so many filters I can't even get to blogger to see if this email post will work. Top that off with Blogger crapping out....ah technology.So, I won't be able to update my odds tables for UFC 72, but the links still work so you can check them manualy. I lost all of my breakdowns etc and I will be leaving tomorrow for 4-5 days Thursday morning so I won't be able to reccomend any wagers. 2007-05-08 23:59:00 From RichFranklin.com:"I spoke with Monte (my manager) Saturday evening and that conversation eluded to the fact that Kampman may be out. Monday,I was told he would be replaced with a top 10 opponent, and Okami was presented as the likely possibility. Later that day we found out Okami signed. From my end, the contract remains the same, and I'm still excited to fight June 16th in Belfast. My camp will make some changes in my training as well as develop a new strategy to approach this fight. However, I was and will continue preparing a fight...not a person." |
