Throwback Thursday: Shaka Zulu
2008-11-13 02:40:00 So Im a big fan of Black Cult Classics (A cult film is a filmthat has acquired a highly devoted but relatively small group of fans). So to change things up from my usual hot-headed ranting, I give you Throwback Thursdays; reviews of some classics you might have never heard of or dont remember that are worth watching. I will also include video clips if I can dig some up or upload them. If you digg them, head over to Amazon by following my links and piick them up for the low low. So without further ado, this Thursday's selecti0on is the TV series Shaka Zulu, not to be confused with Zulu from 1964 or the remake Shaka Zulu: The Citadel (2001). This 4 part series was produced and aired on regular T.V. in 1986 and I can remember watching every single episode as a little boy. 2008-08-02 21:47:00 Bit wasn’t the only one wrestling with problems this morning. Ended up watching Zulu last night. Good movie. I’d seen the movie before. So I wasn’t going to watch the whole movie Needless to say, I got caught up in the movie and watched the whole thing. I believe the movie is the best work both Stanley Baker and Richard Burton did. I am great fan of Burton’s voice, just not his acting. Bottom line, dead Zulus everywhere. Got back on the computer after the flick and ran smack into the Sitemeter problems I think the BitsBlog’s technical staff, to wit Eric, did a outstanding job recovering. Bottom line, dead blogs everywhere, both last night and into this morning. Some might consider it as form of company punishement, but I like to do trail maintence. 2008-04-30 20:24:00 CSI" co-star Gary Dourdan was arrested Monday for possession of narcotics and dangerous drugs, police said.The 41-year-old actor was found asleep in his car by the Palm Springs Police Department, authorities said. An officer saw Dourdan's car parked on the wrong side of the street with the interior light on and someone sleeping in the driver's seat at approximately 5:12 a.m. Monday, according to Palm Springs police Sgt. Mitch Spike.The officer described Dourdan as disoriented and possibly under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The officer arrested Dourdan after locating suspected cocaine, heroin, Ecstacy, miscellaneous prescription drugs and paraphernalia.Dourdan was released on $5,000 bail at 10:30 a.m. Monday. I grabbed the bottle at Total Wine for three reasons, one, it was cheap, only $7.99, two, I liked the design on the front, and three, the word "Indaba" rang a bell and it irked me, so I wanted to figure out why.Upon examining the label closely when I returned home, I discovered that the wine was 12.5% alcohol by volume, had a screw-cap, and was from the Western Cape of South Africa. And the word "Indaba?" It means a gathering, a forum for sharing, in Zulu. I knew it sounded familiar, I remember it from one of my all-time favorite books, The Power of One.Anywho, what I found in the bottle was a nose of lemon and grass with a hint of tropical fruit. The wine was very lemony in the mouth with herbal notes and limes. Overall, the wine was crisp, but not very complex. A perfect wine to take on a picnic or to the beach, especially with the screw-cap!
