Tee Junction Makes the Most of Fun of 80's Fashion

CafePress isn't US shopkeeper monopoly anymore; at least we found new set up brand from our folks in Queensland, Australia. Tee Junction , and not T Junction, is a T-shirt label which generate its idea mostly from late 70's and early to mid eighties t-shirt design and culture in general.Design inspirations mostly come from lots of TV shows and movies during the period such as ALF and the karate kid. Andrew Coe, the Chief Junctioneer, told me that modern interpretations of 70's and 80's fashions are inherently ironic; and humor is a much more important element than it was back when vintage tees were first cool -- and what Tee Junction is trying is to have some element of humor in most of the designs. NekoWear is Manga Inspired T-shirt Brand

NekoWear claims that it's the first brand coming from manga culture. I don't want to discuss the "first" part but it's obviously a brand totally inspired by mange culture; with a twist of western and world influence ? not forget to mention, NekoWear is French-born brand.There are four lines introduced by Nekowear so far: Nekome, NekoWear, Pin2 (in collaboration with Studio Tanuki), Ben Bao and Japanim (featuring widely-known anime character such as GTO and Naruto). Karmaloop Widgets Go Live

If previously Karmaloop-rep can only promote Karmaloop's T-shirts and other stuffs using static banner or referral text-link, now they'll get new widgets to be promoted. With these new widgets, currently only three format-sizes, viewer of widget can scroll up-down or left-right to browse few Karmaloop product shots in a small-but-nice size.The new widgets, indeed, can only enhance viewers' browsing experience assuming it doesn't slow down web page's upload. Bountee's Two Months old, 1000 Designs and Counting

We already spotted Bountee (beta) launch just about two months ago. In a surface, I saw it as place for people (specifically, artists and designers) to share their designs and at best, sell it to others. So what's so cool about that? Thanks to Steve for emailing me last week and gave more info from the latest of Bountee.As accepted image format, Bountee chooses SVG file format (vector-based) which its graphic-editor can be freely downloaded from Inkscape. Using vector-based file, Steve says, enabled Bountee to maintain image designs' quality. These vector images will then printed using the latest DTG (Direct To Garment) technology which allows inks to penetrate into the fabric. In short, T-shirt's printed-image won't crack or peel off even after washed so many times repeatedly.Design by the people for the people. What Makes a Successful T-shirt Website

I visited t-shirtforums.com yesterday, after quite sometime, and found this old-but-still-hot thread over the forum. Someone started this question: "what are the 5 most important issues to address to create a successful t-shirt website?" and it really gets me (and others) thinking. Well, I am myself not tee shop owner (where most of t-shirtforums.com's members are) but at least I can give perspective from consumer point of view. So here are my take on successful t-shirt websites:1) AccessibilityThe most important is website must be easy to navigate; example, I can always reach each website's page within one click. Flash intro is okay as long as it's less than 3 second (I'm using broadband connection), although most people dislike it. Basically, these T-shirts (above) come from one origin design but Stan Peach brilliantly makes it the variant of it. Actually the idea is pretty nice; it makes the T-shirts somehow cool "collectible" item. Simply said, if you have the red/blue version, don't you wish to have the pixelated one? J!NX Video T-Shirt Ads, Not Funny Enough?

I spotted J!NX series of short video ad yesterday (as you guess) on Youtube. The series consist of three short clips featuring J!NX featuring jinx funny tees: "I saw your mom on the internet", "pirates are cooler than ninjas" (see clip above) and "Your computer sucks". it doesn't seem to be successful though, not really successful according to number of views despite 5-star ratings.Does J!NX need those not-so-funny video ads?Already an official merchandise partner for popular geek oriented site, Digg, J!NX enjoys lots of visitors coming to its site every second. And as far as my concern, J!NX is one of the largest geek-oriented T-shirt and clothing label by itself. Spreadshirt New Marketplace (beta), Designers Meet Webmasters

We have seen Spreadshirt beta's preview last weekend and I, too, have been trying the beta. After trying here and there I come to a conclusion that it's not all that easy to set up product line, even to set up an instant online store like Spreadshop; too many decisions to be made! So, I won't bore you with details of inside Spreadshop, rather I'd like to discuss new feature of the marketplace.The introduction says this: "The Spreadshirt Marketplace joins buyers, designers, and Spreadshirt shop-partners..."; furthermore on the page, we can see Spreashirt attempt to invite on more groups: Webmaster/Blogger which I think interesting. A just quick update from Thread less; If you subscribe to its newsletter (or rss feed) you should have known this already, Threadless got summer sale until 3rd of June with T-shirt price goes down to $10 bucks. Hey that's awesome, isn't!? Not often actually.It?s a little bit disappointing that most T-shirts are already sold out (especially for guys size) -- okay, I'm late, but it just 7 hours ago! Tshirt island received sudden traffic yesterday (and still even now) which after I checked the source, came from BuzzFeed. BuzzFeed's Thursday edition was spotlighting T-shirt subscription model I covered last time i.e. buying T-shirts in subscription-based just like when you subscribe your monthly/weekly magazine. To be clearer, these are few brands I found offering this kind if "service" including K adorable, MailboxTees, Social-T (interview with founder), and the latest is T-post.Are you ready for this?Of course the big question remains there (at least for me), whether one would trust others to decide what T-shirts should s/he buy -- it's because you don't know what your tees will look like and yet you already put your cash on it; thus, not different with asking people to pick your clothes while you close your eyes. A Priceless Way (APW) is a Seattle based clothing label found by duo Tai Yu and Sylvia. While Serie s 1 already up for purchase, Series 2 only available for preview -- I hope I can let you know when it's ready on the store.Comparing the two series -- Series 1 T-shirts are more experimental in language usage rather than Series 2's which focus on graphical art. Minimalist art as decoration-purpose and phrase like "Use My Talent to make you rich" are something you can expect from the first series; yes, it definitely goes easy for simply slogan T-shirt lovers. Desteenation Shirt Co. (or in short, Desteenation) has a unique way of selling and getting its T-shirts. T-shirts are sold from bars, restaurants, breweries, taverns, hardware stores -- you name it. If it's a cool, locally-owned and loved establishment, Desteenation licenses the design and then promote their business through a written profile and pictures on its website and in two retail stores (one in Seattle and another in Kona, Hawaii). Of course, percentage of the T-shirts sale back to the original owners. After about a year blogging about T-shirt all the way, I've learned lots from the industry. Competitiveness of online T-shirt industry has been pushing up its players -- mostly small/medium companies and individuals -- to go beyond its basic role (provides desirable T-shirts); in order to survive from this tough competition. Also inspired by Problogger Top 5 list; here are my the top 5 big ideas of selling T-shirts online:#1. Let customers decide what they want Usually called onsite printing demand, personalized T-shirt etc. well, basically it's an adaptation of Dell's popular "built-to-order" or mass customization. Ahpeele is Etsy-member brand and brainchild of duo AdAm and Hiromi -- two guys (a couple actually) who met in September 2001, before they got married and started their own company based in Raleigh, NC. Really, that's quite a lot of stuffs if we say Ahpeele is just a small brand led by only the two. ISO50 clothing line is an extension of so-called visual work of artist and musician Scott Hansen. The line was started 3 years ago to compliment many prints Scott was already selling under brand ISO50. The idea, as he told me, was a shirt with minimal branding; and minimal, but striking designs. Well, designs may look simple but they're not actually. T-shirts like Command, Roots (picture above) and Past Is Prologue are just few examples that minimalist doesn't mean forgetting small details.Above all, I think Scott is color genius; he carefully picks constant combination of T-shirts and designs' color element that represents ISO50.
