The Conclusion: Stockings That Give You Skinner Legs
2008-05-27 00:00:00
Wondering what happened with the caffine tights that were supposed to make your legs skinnier just by wearing them? Well I wore them for (most of) the timeframe and today here are my conclusions as to whether or not they work. After much testing and hoo-ha and general trial and error, I've come to the conclusion that caffeine tights do indeed work, but only as well as they promise. Sound crazy? It probably is. After my last post on the matter, I declared I'd lost just over 2cm from each thigh. With such great results so fast, I assumed I'd experience further loss - that is, the rate at which my thighs were diminishing would continue or at least even if the speed dropped off, I'd still see further reduction over time. I was wrong. At first I thought this was down to an average product that didn't really live up to its claims. When I went looking for more info online though, I found out that the stockings only claim to reduce your thigh measurement by *up to* 2.5cm...

Country Opportunity Shops
2008-05-27 00:00:00
We went away this weekend, up to the country. Now, I’m not a country girl in any way (I like city life) but a visit is always nice. And the one thing I really love about the country? Country op-shops! Country op-shops are better than city ones simply in that you generally have a better chance of finding actual ‘vintage’ items and they are generally cheaper. To give you an example, glo-mesh purses are going for around $20-$30 in Melbourne op-shops (at least that the salvos I checked recently). I saw about 5 different styles all going for $5 each this weekend. Fur coats in Melbourne tend to range from $30-$60 in Melbourne, I didn’t see one marked over $25. So what did I buy? Well no clothes even though I probably should have since somehow I managed to go away without a hairbrush and one pair of jeans instead of the four I thought I had packed. But I did manage to score the funniest book for $1 The book is titled ‘How to be married…AND happy...

Automated Mail Forwarding with Bongo International
2008-05-22 17:00:00
Today we present our final get-to-know-your-mailforwarder article, and this time we have a totally different approach - if you want your very own US address, an admin panel where you can view whats in your mailbox, how much its going to cost (and even get photos to check out the goods before they are sent), get instant postage quotes for your items and send them to up to 5 different address, then Bongo US is for you, and today Greg from Bongo tells us how it all works.                                     Tell us a bit about how Bongo US Began? The owner of the company spent numerous years working for a shipping and logistics company in NYC.  He realized that the most challenging component to shipping always revolved around international shipping.  Many companies weren't educated on the proper way to produce international shipments and they we...

Wishlisting.com
2008-05-19 00:00:00
I had a dream. It involved being able to keep track of the many lemmings I have. Another part of my dream involved my husband just KNOWING exactly what I wanted for my birthday/christmas/random I love you presents (yes darling, thats a hint) and buying them for me. I am finally partly on the way to my fantasy with the discovery of wishlisting.com   Now, I've only been using it for two weeks but I love it. With wishlisting you install a bookmarklet (ie. a browser button) and when you see something you like, you hit that button. Without leaving the store of your choice, wishlisting grabs the item image, url and price to add to your wishlist, which in then presents in this very nice visual display like below (and tell me aren't we all proud that I only have 11 items on my wishlist?!). It even splits the items you have as seperate from the items you want (when you purchase something you easily update it to 'I have it'           &nb...

If you really don't feel confident dealing with Internationally based stores and want and australian service that bills in Australian Dollars, gives you all your prices up front AND has an australian phone number you can pick up and call, Price USA is for you. Today we speak to Caroline Tillet, the owner of Price USA about her unique service.                                   Tell us a bit about how you started Price USA? The idea for Price USA came out of the frustration I had when I wanted to order some items for my son’s birthday party. I found some fantastic party decorations, but when I went to order it I found out that the shop wouldn’t ship to Australia. I kept looking around the web and eventually found what I wanted from a shop that would ship to A...

Are You Really Gonna Wear That? Mirror
2008-05-12 00:00:00
Now lets be honest here, haven't we all looked at someone on the street and wondered if they even bothered to look in the mirror in the morning? God hope its never been your own reflection when these words have crossed your mind. And if it has (lets face it, we all have what we shall politely refer to as CBF days), then this mirror is your new best friend.     This gorgeous 10x8inch bevelled glass mirror will give you the really check you need on one of those days.  With 'Are You Really Gonna Wear That?' engraved in the bottom, you can't blame the mirror for not sparking off the thought process.   And hey, if you are one of those revoltingly effortless stylish people all the time, then perhaps you would be better off with the 'Who's The Fairest of them All Mirror ?"         The mirrors are $19.95US each from What on Earth, who do ship internationally and accept credit cards only. Do keep in mind that mirrors m...

2008-05-08 00:00:00
Now, USA mail forwarders are cropping up everywhere these days, but we've discovered a fabulous new service to enable you to not only get items shipped from European websites, but also a site that gives you your very own Paris ian based personal shopper! Today we talk to Rachel from Parcel From Paris to get the lowdown on her awesome service AND a mighty fine discount for your first custom purchase with Parcel From Paris!                                   Tell us a bit about how you started Parcel from Paris? My background lies in the fashion industry. When I met my husband I temporarily moved to the Netherlands (the fashion Siberia) and often shopped online. I know first hand the disappointment of dealing with sellers who do not ship internationally. Since moving back to my home-town, I often receive shopping requests from friends and family in Holland, espe...

Giveaway: Sunsilk Fashion Designers Range
2008-05-08 00:00:00
Now, unless you've been living under a rock for the last 12 months, you'll know that Sunsilk has been collaborating with some of our top Australian designers to produce a gorgeous range of limited edition collections, with the latest collection featuring Collette Dinnigan, Alice McCall and Peter Morrissey. Well, we have three sets of each range to giveaway to 9 lucky readers! Besides the gorgeously designed bottles, the latest range also includes crystal extracts to make your hair shiny and lush. Each designer collaborated throught the process from the design of their bottle, to the fragrance (the Collette Dinnigan one smells DIVINE in my humble opinion!) and each line captures the different flair each designer brings to their brand. How? Well each range has different extracts for a specific finish, be it cashmere extracts (Collette Dinnigan) silk extracts (Alice McCall) or crystal dust and satin extracts (Peter Morrissey)    So how can you get your hands...

Savvy Circle
2008-05-05 00:00:00
One the big new shopping tools that seems to be cropping up is the price alert monitor. We’ve talked before about Shop It To Me , and I also use the Shop Style Price Monitor and I’ve found both really useful.  A new one that I’ve just found is Savvy Circle . Savvy Circle is a new online service where members could save the items they're eyeing and be instantly notified as soon as the price drops. The list of retailers is a similar size to Shop It To Me but what attracted me to Savvy Circle was that it’s not just fashion items, they also include stores like Amazon and Target. When you are shopping around – I mean browsing around – the internet if you see an item you like but don’t want to pay full price, you just hit the Savvy Circle button on your browser and it adds the item details to your shopping list. When that item goes on sale, they shoot you an email letting you know its on sale. Rather than picking brands you like an...
