Taaz-manian I just found the most awesome new website, Taaz!  Upload a picture of yourself, head on is best but you don’t Taaz with the photo you want, you Taaz with the photo you have.Then you can do all sorts of fun stuff add skin foundation, hair, eyes and lip elements.  I forgot to mention the best part is it gives you recommendations on the product you may want to buy.  Nars, Origins, Chanel, MAC and more were featured. Victoria?s Secret FREE Beauty Stop the Totes Alert

   Stop the “FREE” Totes.  I have too much, I’m trying to downsize my consumption of our resources, no I’m not a saint, I do purchase things that I don’t need and could do without.  One of the problems is “free” totes have opportunity costs.  I waste time thinking if I want this “free” tote, a day or two of having it on my floor by my back door, a week or two of it bouncing around in the trunk, possibility of me getting all wet while trying to unload the accumulated donation (I always seem to visit thrift stores whilst it’s pouring rain for some reason). Eva Mendes for Peta and Calvin Klein

  Some beautiful latinas are taking a stand and posing for Peta ads and I couldn’t be happier about that.  Sadly J Lo is still festooned in fur… I’m steering clear of posting anything else about her until she gets the fur out of her “sweetface” line.  I have high hopes that motherhood will shake JLo into caring about little defenseless creatures.  It’s one thing to act like you don’t know but when you see the images of animals that have been skinned alive they are undeniable.  For now I’ll concentrate on Eva Mendes , I know she went through rehab and seriously hope she can keep it together.  After all she’s going to rep for Calvin Klein ’s fragrance AND Calvin Klein Underwear which I will have to see to believe.  As you can see in the photo ad for Peta she has plenty to get in those panties and in my personal experience the cuts are not favorable to us girls with assets in our jeans. Here are all the CEW Beauty Awards Finalists .  I’m totally shocked by one brand in particular,  I’ve been steering way clear of it but that is going to change.  Any company that can get 9 spots in the CEW finals is something I need to pay more attention to!  Guess there’s no point in beating around the bush - it’s Avon !  I used Skin-So-Soft when I was in the Navy way back when, it was the only thing that would keep the mosquitoes off me while on the flight deck.  The product was great but I don’t do the party business scene, I’ve dabbled with it, but  you know it’s just not my thing.  I also don’t do well with the catalog door to door aspect, although I was truly tempted after reading Birdie Jaworski’s Avon Lady Blog (traipse through the archives, it’s just too funny, I wish she’d morph into a beauty blogger again!)  Birdie’s book is also available through her website - be sure to check it out.    I’ve hi...

 Aveeno Positively Ageless Rejuvenating Serum - Experience I’ve been using this for a few days and really like it.  I can for sure use some rejuvenating this time of year, it’s been such a long winter.  I’ve been wearing the serum under my night cream and day lotions with SPF.  Positively Ageless makes my skin feel soft and moisturized.  Use it alone on rain and snow days if you will be indoors because it has no SPF. Annoyance Beauty Expires

How long do you keep your beauty products?  There are expiration dates on everything nowadays.  After buying some Dr. Brandt items in January I was shocked to see the expiration date was May 2008! that’s right, just five months!  Isn’t that the most annoying thing? Consider yourself forewarned about that brand, no one brought it to my attention, they just placed everything in the bag and it didn’t even occur to me to check.  I really need to hurry and finish all of the products off, I can’t stand rushing through beauty products, especially skin care! There are some things you can do to fight products expiring prematurely.  Whenever possible buy a pump bottle, it will reduce the ingredients to the air and light. Keep your prettiest perfume bottles hidden away in a cool, dark place. The only problem is you have to find a practical place that you will actually think to go to everyday.  I usually sacrifice my lowest bottle of perfume to the car for the summer so ...

There’s only one way to combat dry hair and that’s with the right products to keep your strands silky smooth.  First thing, out with the old hair dryer and in with the new, I just got the Featherweight by T3 and I can’t recommend that highly enough, it’s cut drying time in half, I even use it on my girls - whose hair I’m ultra protective of.  It’s taken so long for girl2004 to get her hair past her shoulders, there’s no way I’m going to risk any burns to her strands or scalp! Another thing I’ve been using for all three of us is the Kerastase Nutritive Masque.  It’s been great and we have very different hair textures.  Just shampoo your hair, rinse and apply the Nutritive Masque to the ends of the hair, wait five minutes and rinse out. T3 Hair - Fast and Full

 What wouldn’t I do for a great gift with purchase?  Luckily this time the gwp was for a brand I love and I only had to buy one product at a great price.  In return I got the the lovely cosmetic bags with Eiffel Tower zipper pulls, and all the little goodies of course.  Lancome ’s Aqua Fusion with SPF 15 is designed for normal/combination skins.  When you pump it out the scent is so soothing and spring-y that it totally makes me forget we have a projected 12 inches of snow heading for my area.  There’s no oil in this product, light and easily absorbed. Estee Lauder is a brand I haven’t used much since leaving Japan, the base exchange only carries a few premium brands and EL was one of them.  When I wasn’t experimenting with Japanese beauty brands, I would buy loads of Estee stuff.  I’ve been using the Projectionist Mascara for five days and really like it.  I totally missed the launch last March so I’m making up for lost time now!  Projectionist defines my lashes and makes them look longer with just a few strokes.   My main lash issue is volume, sadly I didn’t notice much increase in volume while using Projectionist.   The mascara stayed in place, no smudge or clumps which is enought to get a good mark up from me.  An added bonus: The bottle is gorgeous! a really great looking tube. I’ve always taken my skin for granted, regular cleansing, bit of moisturizing and plenty of water is about all I’ve needed.  I didn’t understand the physical discomfort dry skin causes until my son, boy2001, started getting really dry winter skin. New York City Wednesday 20, 2008    I started off at 4 in the morning, got to the airport and waited my two hours, I passed the time by re-reading The Little Prince and knitting a little bear for my girls. Plane was on time, took the E train to Times Square and started off with breakfast at 8:19 @ Yoshinoya… I didn’t even bother waiting for the Hello Kitty store this time - it is such a non-event, way too small and nothing interactive.
