Image Cell U Lift Body Spa Product Review
2008-02-18 21:01:00 I’ve been using several Image Skincare products recently. The first one I’d like to review is Cell -U-Lift which is part of Image’s Body Spa Line. Cell-U-Lift body cream is formulated to fight skin laxity deep in the tissue using EPP (Enzyme PolyPeptide Complex). The cream is meant for use on the arms, legs, thighs, stomach and neck. I kept things simple and tested this on my belly exlusively twice a day for a week. I’ve come to notice that I totally neglect my belly skin generally so it made a great test spot. Using Cell-U-Lift has made the skin feel tighter and look better than before, hydrated and silky smooth. After three babies things just aren’t as tight as before. The moisturizer’s beachy scent has me dreaming of bikini weather and long sips of lemonade on the sand. Cell-U-Lift would make a great gift for a new mother, it is recommended for pre/post pregnancy. In addition, this moisturizer can be used after liposuction to reduce pos... More About: Product Review , Review , Product
beyond beauty, what I?ve been up to
2008-02-17 18:41:00 Nothing much going on at home, my mom is visiting and we’ve been busy knitting little beige bears for the girls. I also got a date night with my DH on Friday. We went to a Gaucho’s “Brazilian Churrascaria”, very Brazilian except there were no natives, no music, tiny 1/2 cup portion of black beans for two and that much of the thirteen meat selections were offered to us totally rare and dripping with blood. I’m guessing they are a new restaurant and were caught unprepared by a small rush of people. Def disappointed with the restaurant but at least I was in good company! Then we went to see the movie Atonement, it was really good! I loved the story and Keira Knightly is stunning. I think I’m going to get my hair cut like hers soon. The next morning we went to a kid’s amusement center, it was pretty good, LOUD and obnoxious but the kids loved it. After that we went shopping and I got my Lancome goody bag and Lancome Aqua Fusion (I’... More About: Beauty
Spousekeeping: How I got him to use ZIRH
2008-02-15 06:21:00 Spousekeeping: For weeks I’d been looking under my husband’s bathroom sink, (forget two sinks, his and her bathrooms are the way to go!) The wonderful ZIRH ‘Get Revitalized’ kit I’d bought him for Christmas lay gathering dust. *sigh* I thought the set would surely go to waste - then I got this press release about the Superbowl XLII Talent & Player Gift Lounge. The picture attached was worth it’s weight in gold! A picture of Kevin Dillon of HBO’s Entourage posing with ZIRH soap! I showed the picture to my DH and reminded him that he had some of that under his sink. That’s all it took, now he’s a ZIRH loving fool! Lancome?s Gift With Purchase - Tour Eiffel Zipper Pulls!!
2008-02-15 01:45:00 Lancome cosmetic counters are offering a free gift with purchase of $28.50 from now til 2/24! ADMISSION: I generally totally dismiss gift with purchase offers. You get some of Lancome’s best items: Trésor Eau de Parfum fragrance, Définicils mascara, Bi-Facil, Rénergie Microlift R.A.R.E. face and eye cream, Color Design eye shadow quad and lipstick. What caught my eye about this one? not only do you get very usable products at a cheap price but you get the most adorable bag with what looks like little Eiffel Tower zipper pulls! Like I said, I almost always dismiss these things but I’m half French and my daughters both fell in love with the Tour Eiffel last year when we went to Paris so this is just a must have item for me!! I’ll be at my counter early Saturday morning to pick mine up, the only problem is which color bag to choose?! Post from: Steeping Beauty Lancome’s Gift With Purchase - Tour Eiffel Zipper Pulls!! FAFI for MAC Graffiti Fafinettes
2008-02-11 18:07:00 Growing up in Queens, Graffiti art was part of my everyday life. Graffiti is sometimes common tags, other times portrait or landscape masterpieces. The most common subject in my area was our amazing view of the Manhattan skyline and the 59th Street Bridge. The city and property owners surely found graffiti annoying but the youth really got it as outdoor museum-quality art. The best and most entertaining movie on the subject is Beat Street. Graffiti art is now getting the respect it deserves and artists like Fafi are getting major attention. Quite a long way in a short time if you ask me. MAC has just released the MAC fafi collection inspired by the French graffiti artist, Fafi. The collection includes make-up, cosmetic bags and the collectible Fafinette dolls. Fafi got her start on the streets of Toulouse France but has exhibited all over the world since then. I’ll be checking this out over the weekend in person and will be sure to report on my thoughts. Global Goddess Shalini Vadhera Passport to Beauty
2008-02-11 05:50:00 I’ve been tearing through this book, Passport to Beauty , by Shalini Vadhera. It is such an inspiration to me and, it’s just what I’ve been wanting to do for this blog. I come from a multi-national background (Brazilian dad, French mom, Cuban babysitter, Guyanese best friend, etc…) One thing all my extended family, friends and acquaintances have in common is a desire to be beautiful. No matter what women have a desire to be perceived as pretty, of course the standards differ greatly around the world and so does the method. Shalini is a world traveler and makeup artist. She brings to us in book format all the international beauty secrets she could pack. I’ll be spilling the contents little by little, and have some upcoming product reviews to share on her fab Global Goddess Line. Be sure to Mark Your Calendars! Shalini Vadhera will be appearing on HSN Thursday, February 14th, 2008 ? 7:00 a.m. & 8:00 p.m. EST Frid...
Witty L?Oreal HIP cream eye shadow Product Review
2008-02-11 04:46:00 I ran to the drugstore late Friday night to see what I could see, a sort of beauty vision quest. I don’t get many of those these days so I went up and down every aisle. During these little escapes it takes a lot for me to take notice. Most of the products seem like more of the same old stuff, but when I saw the L’Oreal High Intensity Pigment section I stopped dead in my tracks. There were so many unusual looking things to tempt me, and intimidate me. When I bought the HIP cream shadow in ‘witty’ I was not at all sure I would even be able to pull it off, I had to pay because 20/20 was about to come on and surely there would be some type of issue a the counter (I’ll blog about this later). I’m not a make up artist, or even good at applying eye makeup, I always do the same thing - play it safe, classic. Saturday’s are all about family, we always go into the city with the kids and do something for them, shop the an early dinner out - so my... Face in the clouds Skyn Iceland Product Review
2008-02-10 07:37:00 You’ve surely had your head in the clouds, but have you ever had your face in the clouds? Pure Cloud Creme is a moisturizer by Skyn Iceland that will help the most sensitive skin. Even if your skin is not normally sensitive but you’ve been out in the harsh winter weather or got a face peel that burned or maybe you were out having fun skiing? Whatever the reason - consider Pure Cloud Cream to repair the damage. I don’t normally have sensitive skin, but last month while in New York I got a peel that didn’t agree with me. My cheeks were like chopmeat for a few hours. Luckily I woke up and was ok but it was quite scary at first. If you peel enough you’ll get your own experience with that horrible burning sensation. I could have really used Pure Cloud Cream then to soothe my very delicate burned skin. This cream is so gentle it is described as the kid gloves of skincare. After trying a small sample, I’d say I agree. It is very gentle and most i... More About: Product Review , Review , Product , Clouds , Face
Too Faced Guilt Free Lip Gloss? Blame it on the Gloss
2008-02-09 17:36:00 The claim is Too Faced Guilt Free Lip Gloss is infused with healthy, delicious fruit flavors that curb your appetite and energy boosting ingredients so you feel great. Riding the wave of Fuze’s slenderizing drinks, this gloss’ catch phrase is ”Always on the lips, never the hips.”. Oh really? I went searching around looking for glossy experiences. Lots of stores sell it and they had a fab launch party but I couldn’t find anyone that has had success in the month it’s been available, and yes I would think by now someone would have lost a pound or two. Splendora’s thoughts did strike a chord, I’ve never felt guilty applying lip gloss before and kind of resent the suggestion that I should. Thanks Too Faced, now I do feel guilty about using other glosses. Relacore is right, it’s not my fault I have stubborn belly fat, blame it on the gloss! Even though it is ridiculous the marketing has worked its magic on me - almost! I still... More About: Blame
Lancome?s Pixel Pink Lipstick Debut
2008-02-08 05:18:00 If you’ve been waiting to purchase the fourth designer Lancome Lipstick your wait is over. If you just like to be on top of all the hotness, read on. Lancôme Color Fever Shine Lipstick in Pixel Pink was worn by all the models for the Thakoon show to rave reviews. Pixel Pink is described as a sheer raspberry. The Pout-à-Porter lipstick will initially be sold at Lancome’s USA website. March 1st it will debut @ Neiman Marcus for $25. After seeing it on the models at the Thakoon show, I’m wondering if this will be too light on me and not show at all. I don’t mind spending money on make-up if it’s going to show up. I do like a fresh looking lip and I do wear a lot of pink lipsticks. I tend to choose darker shades so they show up on my medium skin tone. I will swing by the store to try Pixel Pink for two reasons: First you can never have enough pink in your life. Secondly, when you have little girls you realize pink goes with everything, pink compl... More About: Debut
Lipstick Jungle Premiere Bonfire Magazine Launch
2008-02-08 02:51:00 Check out the first issue of Bonfire Magazine . I didn’t read through it all but the pictures are interesting in a weird way. The premiere episode of Lipstick Jungle on NBC just ended.I’m not totally hooked on the show, but there were a few good lines. “The moments before you really know a person are the most exciting.” Criticism of Victory Ford’s fashions. The headline read, “From New to ewwww”. Time will tell Lipstick Jungle, I wish you well Post from: Steeping Beauty Lipstick Jungle Premiere Bonfire Magazine Launch Share This
The new Steeping Beauty Blog Banner
2008-02-07 19:49:00 If you’re waiting on me to do something, I am desperately trying to figure out how to change the header to this. Last night I tried to change my theme, I downloaded Chris Pearson’s neoclassical theme, unzipped, and headed to my host. I followed the steps and everything was going ok until there was an error in the index. Everything was wiped out, luckily bluehost.com came to my rescue, esp Bill, he restored everything up to Jan. 26. Did I forget to mention I didn’t back up my files?! So I spent much of the night messing around, and thanks to blogtoplist and my cache was able to copy/paste and recreate the lost posts, but none of the comments. The saddest part is I’m not done, I can’t make a backup, keep getting errors, so I don’t dare mess with this, but I still wanted you all to see my new header - hopefully it will be up sooner than later? Take care, hopefully I’ll ber be back to normal soon! Post from: Steeping Beauty The new Steeping Beau... More About: Blog , Banner
Consider Your Remover Eye Q
2008-02-06 21:18:00 One of the most constant things in my life is wearing eye make up. I started wearing mascara and eye liner when I was about 12 (retrospectively ridiculous). It was a rite of passage in Queen’s, the blacker and thicker the better, but we didn’t take good care of taking it all off. Just another case of youth being wasted on the young I guess. Now I’m faithful to take off my make up every night. There is a huge benefit to my skin but it’s also a huge timesaver in the morning. Of course you can remove your eye make up when you get up, but it just isn’t the same as doing it at night. For one thing if your lashes are greazy you can’t put on fresh eye make up, right? and in my case my eyes can get irritated and redden up a bit depending on the solution. I’m also a contact lense wearer but I usually take them out before I remove my make up so that’s not a factor. When I wake up I have such a short time before the kids pounce, itR...
Space NK Seduction Bodycare Origami Box Product Review
2008-02-06 20:11:00 Space NK’s Seduction Bodycare essentials set comes in a nice box that features origami cranes in different colors all over it. Having lived in Japan, I love to see anything origami. I have the bodywash and body balm in seduction which smells amazing. The bodywash has a much stronger version of the scent than the body balm. Described as a “fresh blend of fig leaves and freesia in a sensual earthy base of amber and musk” confused me at first, I’ve never smelled fig leaves before! so let me put it simply for you - it smells good! It’s not fruity or flowery so very nice to have on hand for a man. If you’re not going to use it right away open it and put it in your linen closet for some towels that smell wonderful. $55 for the set @ SpaceNK Post from: Steeping Beauty Space NK Seduction Bodycare Origami Box Product Review Share This
the post without a name
2008-02-06 06:32:00 I’ve just had a horrible day culminating with cancelling my one day fashion trip to NYC! keeping a long story short - duty calls. The nice part about not going away were the nice back-handed compliments that I got from my oldest two. Boy2001 said, “Good, I might miss you. When is the next time you can go away?” Girl2004 said, “Good, dad-E doesn’t know how to buy cereal because he doesn’t catch coupons” (I think she meant catch sales and cut coupons). So at least I know where I stand with them! Back to the Prada Parfum Coffret, isn’t it cute? the best part is it’s got 3 fragrances for women and one to “share” with men. Great, glad I’m not being totally selfish or anything. I guess I’ll be even more generous and share all the empty bottles with the cat or kid (depending on your lifestyle). Prada Parfum Coffret is available for $50. I also need something to go with my pouty mouth, I could really use Cal... More About: Post

What does your purse say about you? Pink Mag
2008-02-05 05:58:00 I was just looking through an old pink magazine and found an article, “what’s in your purse?” The contents of your Louis Vuitton can tell a lot about your finances. Do you think that statement is true for most people? is it true in your case? I think it’s true in my case. When I lived in Japan money was plentiful, my husband and I were both working and had a lot of disposable income. I lacked nothing money could buy. My purse was usually immaculate. My make up bag, filofax, wallet, check book, savings register, brush, change purse, little notebook, pencil case, kleenex and more. Everything properly contained and cared for. Now my purse is a mess! Amidst all the receipts and crumps lay my wallet, beat up cell phone and other stuff. My life is much different as a stay at home mom with little discretionary funds. The first step is awareness so if you’re like me let’s vow to get our purses in order! Post from: Steeping Beauty What does your... More About: Pink
Dr Brandt anti-oxidant water booster Pomegranate Product Review
2008-02-04 03:23:00 I heart good product! While in New York last month I got to sample (and re-sample and re-sample x 20) dr. brandt’s anti-oxidant water booster in the pomegranate flavor. There are two other flavors available, lemon and original as well that I did not try. The anti-oxidant booster comes in a small glass dropper bottle. There are about 60 servings per bottle for $35, a full dropper per 8 ounces water is recommended. I’m not always that careful about the amount it’s going into, if I haven’t downed enough water during the day I add my dropper fill to more water. I’ve had this hot and cold but I have a real preference for the cold with ice cubes. My ritual: I put in some ice cubes in my water a while before I plan on drinking it and then I put in my dropper full of water booster and mix/shake. The water booster tastes like green tea with a delicious twist, one dopper full is the equivalent of 15 cups of green tea! that is truly amazing and such a time sa... Words of Wisdom from Slim Fast Style Your Slim
2008-02-04 01:00:00 After I found out Target doesn’t want to respond to blogger inquiries I hit the Walmart -without kids - which means I got to peruse the cosmetics aisles and see what’s new there. I found the deals on the Maybelline Great Lash and bought my Cover Girl Lash Blast on that trip as well as some other great stuff. There was a big display for Slim Fast and some free “Simple Success Starter Kit For Healthy Weight Loss”. I got one and wanted to share some wisdom from the pamphlet. The diet is about progress, not perfection. Gloves In A Bottle Moisturizer Product Review
2008-02-03 04:40:00 I received a nice little package from Maria from Beauty is Within a few days ago. As it turns out it’s just what I needed - moisturizer! I’m sure my family must hold a record on the amount of moisturizers we go through. Gloves in a Bottle claims it’s “Like an invisible pair of gloves, skin care that works”. I put it on my elbows and heels and there was a nice improvement, not at all greasy but very liquidy versus creamy. Gloves in a Bottle worked well and is paraben free. The only problem I have with it is it’s fragrance free, I like some scent in my products even if it is very light. Worth the money and is readily available in drugstores. Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara Product Review
2008-02-03 04:09:00 I bought Cover Girl ’s Lash Blast Mascara a few days ago and I’ve been wearing it everyday. It comes in this conspicuous orange tube, too bad they didn’t make it glow in the dark so I could find it in my purse! The mascara itself works very well, the silicone brush feels a little funny at first but I quickly got used to it. I really like the orange brush but it turns all black after your first application - awww… The mascara stays on great, didn’t smudge or flake which is really the good test of a mascara. A very good drugstore buy! Post from: Steeping Beauty Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara Product Review Share This
AMBI Skincare Science and Medicine Scholarship
2008-02-02 16:35:00 I just got wind about a wonderful scholarship opportunity for Hispanic and African American women. AMBI®Skincare has announced the annual AMBI® Scholarship in Science & Medicine with $50,000 up for grabs! My experience: When I was a college student I tried my hardest to get scholarships and grants with very limited success, many of the scholarships seemed to be a lot of work for tiny amounts. I joined the Navy and did my 2 years active duty (you could do that back then). When I got out I was able to declare myself an independent student (meaning my parents income didn’t hinder me) and receive financial aid in various forms as well as my Montgomery GI Bill funds I’d worked for. Those funds eventually earned me my Bachelor’s in the Humanities from Southern New Hampshire University a good 15 years after my first day at Pace University way back when. (Please note I could have gotten it with 2 years of leaving the military but procrastinated - A LOT!) I’m...

Super Bowl Weekend Football Touchdown Beauty
2008-02-02 06:46:00 This is Super Bowl Weekend and while that doesn’t mean much to me, my husband will be stuck to the t.v. Sunday leaving me a football widow. I’m not one of those wives that pretends to care about the teams or the home runs or any of that, we’ve been married to long to fake an interest in football so I’m totally clueless. I copied some pages out Coach Nancy’s (aka Beauty 411) Playbook and am using her titles - hope that’s ok! The Playbook: Would have to be the Little Black Book of Style by Nina Garcia, I’m still loving this sweet little book I reviewed a while ago. The illustrations by Ruben Toledo are amazing and inspiring - I wish I could get some prints for my room or even my blog theme. Another great make up book is Cindy Crawford’s Basic Face from so long ago, beautiful images with practical advice. The Offense: Taking supplements of some type, there are a lot of different ones on the market. I’m using Imedeen to clear up... More About: Football

Yilkers does for feet what wrinkle creams do for eyes, sounds familiar and believable… I reached for my phone, a thought crosses my mind… will these things *really* work? I don’t want to blow $28 to find out they don’t work. Yilkers’ commercial is so convincing, but I’d rather talk to someone who’s tried it… where to turn? I don’t know anyone in real life that has used this, so how will I get an unbiased opinion… I know there are others like me out there wanting to know if Yilkers really work, does it tickle, have another applicable use or emit a foul order? The Yilkers website has info and testimonials and that I surely don’t trust! Celebrity endorsement? NO!
