Lancôme Creates Brazilian Inspired Collection

International beauty is one of my many interests, especially the fusion of France and Brazil.  Being Frazilian myself I love seeing  Lancôme being inspired by the many colors of Brazil.  The connection came in when Daria Werbowy, supermmodel and Lancôme spokesperson, visited Rio and met up with Vic Muniz of Centro Espacial.  The Centro Espacial encourages art education.  Daria was impressed, and pitched a Brazilian inspired collection to Lancôme that would benefit the center. I immediately ran out to the Lancôme counter to check it out but when they had no idea what I was talking about (don’t worry, I did pick up some other goodies!)  After looking over the email I realized my enthusiasm got me so dizzy I didn’t bother to read that the collection is only available @ sephora.com, Lancome Boutiques and Lancome USA.  Kudos to Daria on the idea, I’m thrilled about the color palette being in earthy tones.  Very wearable, chic and elegant.  ...

World Ocean Day See My Sea Glass

Today, June 8, 2008,  is World Ocean Day!   To celebrate, La Mer will donate $100,000 to  Oceana  in honor of La Mer founder, Dr. Max Huber.  Dr. Huber grew to love and appreciate the beauty and fragile ecosystem of the ocean while researching ingredients for the living legend, Creme de la Mer. Bobbi Brown, Trish McEvoy and Laura Mercier worked closely with the Havaiana’s team to create three very special pairs of flip flops, limited edition season must-haves in fact!  I’m constantly amazed by the trickling in of Brazilian influence on international style and culture.  Now you may be thinking, flip flops are that important? yes, they are the icons of footwear, I’ve never met a Brazilian who didn’t have them.   I seriously never, ever in a trillion years imagined the Havaiana’s I loved and left with no regard in Brazil would get designer attention some day abroad. But they are getting just that AND being sold in Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks.com (now there’s a link you don’t see everyday!)  I can’t help but find them strange bedfellows for some reason but I’m a sucker for charity and I’m thrilled about Havaiana’s success!  I also love the fact that the proceeds of the sale go to charity water. The price point,$1...

Anastasia Salon Beverly Hills Beyond Brows

Anastasia’s Beverly Hills salon was one of the stops on the Total Beauty Tour and was amazing.  The open layout of the salon is very nice and bright with a stunning array of celebrity clients on the walls.  Clients are consulted and brows are groomed in the main room.  I was suprised to see there are a lot of other services offered from body waxing to facials, you could have all your needs met in one place.  As a treat we got to watch Anastasia’s brow shaping work first hand. Annie from BellaSugar was chosen for an on the spot brow fix and in a few minutes changed her already beauty-full expression.  I could not leave without a consult so I basically begged for help and it was granted!  If you had asked me before the consult, I would have said I had bushy brows but after talking to the brow authority I know I have too big a space between them and they are too thin.  How do you like that?  I’m thinking that my subconcious fear of uni-brow has blinded me to the waxe...

What a life changer, not only is the product good but my favorite part of this product is that it is a spray.  It’s so much easier to get it on the kids without a hassle because it’s fast to apply.   Aveeno Continuous Protection Sunblock 45 is very effective, we’ve been out in the sun quite a bit these last two weeks and the kids are looking great, no signs of sun damage at all.  It has an active photobarrerier complex, is oil free and waterproof.  I’m going to get some more of it to keep as a permanent fixture in the car this summer. Shaved Skin Milk w/Real Milk Proteins

I didn’t use this product for the longest, I just assumed it was a skin moisturizer by the packaging but a few weeks ago I noticed it’s actually a shaving milk made with real milk proteins and I was ecstatic.  I love trying new things, so I didn’t even scold the girls for using the last of my Barbasol to make bath beards.  I knew it meant I would dip into the skin milk that much earlier and I have been very pleased with the experience.  Skin Milk is very thin and silky compared to shave cream so it’s a nice consistency.  The scent is what worried me most, because it was described as a light vanilla. The FDA has posted a warning about Mommy ’s Bliss Nipple Cream , marketed by MOM Enterprises, Inc.  The product was marketed to help nursing mothers heal cracking nipples from nursing but it has been revealed that some of the ingredients are harmful, specifically chlorphenesin and phenoxyethanol. Chlorphenesin relaxes skeletal muscle and can depress the central nervous system and cause slow or shallow breathing in infants. Phenoxyenthanol, a preservative that is primarily used in cosmetics and medications, can also depress the central nervous system and may cause vomiting and diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration in infants. Mothers and caregivers should seek immediate medical attention if their child shows signs and symptoms of a decrease in appetite, difficulty in awakening, limpness of extremities or a decrease in an infant’s strength of grip and a change in skin color.
