Back to back to school
2007-08-16 22:36:00 Gosh, remember summer vacations when you were a kid? Holy cow did they seem to last forever. I never went away to camp (except one year in junior high school I went to a daily sports camp for a few weeks). Instead, I just hung out with my mom and sister, mostly going to the ... Dog-gone it!
2007-08-16 20:30:00 Yes, the awful puns continue! But it’s Thursday. Which means it’s my night out. Woooo! Which also means, unfortunately, there’s probably next to nuthin’ playing at the movies. Sigh. Think I may end up seeing Stardust, solely because it’s the only thing I can stomach that I haven’t seen yet, and it is based on ... More About: Pets

In the Dog House
2007-08-15 21:44:00 No I didn’t sleep on the couch last night or forget an anniversary or anything. Don’t worry. I’m just talking about pets this time around. Specifically pooches. Yep, I am most definitely a dog person. Had 2 growing up (both were shih-tzus) and loved em like mad. The first one (Buttons was his name) was ... More About: House , Pets , Ouse , The D
A bit down
2007-08-14 21:13:00 I’m pretty depressed right now. Just saw the news that Yankees longtime announcer Phil Rizzuto died earlier today. Yes he was pretty old and been kind of sick for awhile, but I hadn’t heard anything lately. I remember watching the Yankees almost religiously as a kid with Phil and Bill White announcing each game. White ... More About: Flowers
Burn baby, burn
2007-08-14 05:47:00 So Saturday was beach day. Hooray! Which meant (since we all know my wife is in charge) getting up bright and early, getting everything packed up, feed the kids breakfast and meet at our nearby friends’ house by 8 a.m. I am sooo not a morning person. I’ve always been a night owl as far ... More About: Baby , Beauty , Burn
Playing Tag
2007-08-13 22:11:00 I’m still fairly new at this whole blogging community thing, though I think I’m starting to get the hang of it. Besides just commenting on other bloggers’ blogs and joining different blogging communities, one way bloggers sort of spread the love around is to “tag” each other (or “meme” each other if I can verbatize ...

Eye Spy a Free Lasik Exam
2007-08-10 21:29:00 I have pretty poor eyesight. No, really really bad. You know those condensed lenses they make for glasses so they’re thinner? Well I have those. And they STILL look like the bottom of two Coke bottles. Yeah, that bad. Thankfully I wear contact lenses, cause those glasses get real heavy. Plus they hurt my ears and I hate how I look in them. I remember getting my first pair of glasses way back in the 1st or 2nd grade. These days it seems a lot more prevalent among kids, but when I was a kid I think I was the first one in my class to wear them. And seeing (sorry, no pun intended) as how it was halfway through the school year, other kids were already used to my non-spectacled face. So when I came in wearing them one day, everybody stared. And stared And asked what those funny things on my face were. And why I had to wear them. Oh, and did I mention they stared? Yeah. A lot. Obviously I wasn’t scarred by this experience and never gave it a second thought. Sigh. But they did t... More About: Lasik , Free , Exam
Game On!
2007-08-10 18:35:00 The Parent Bloggers Network is running a contest right now where they’re giving away a Nintendo Wii and a new game called Boogie. You just have to write a post about how your family plays together. Deadline is midnight tonight, though, so get hustling. I actually have a Wii already (though I certainly wouldn’t mind winning another one! Heh.), but this new Boogie game sounds kinda neat, and I figured lotsa parents reading this blog might be interested in getting their paws on one either. Anyways, here’s my official entry I guess: We have two young sons (ages 2 and 4) and games are a big part of every single day. Our 4-year-old is really into just about any type of game these days, from video games (he plays Bob the Builder or Winnie the Pooh on his VSmile, as well as some Nintendo games like Mario Kart and Mario Party 8 on the Wii) to interactive DVD games like Hullabaloo. And he loves board games (Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Hi-Ho Cherry Oh, just about any Tho... More About: Game
Ashlee Simpson’s the new Jenny McCarthy?
2007-08-10 16:21:00 I’ve never owned a pair of Skechers before, and in fact never even heard of them until a few years ago I couldn’t open a magazine without seeing an ad for them with Jenny McCart hy wearing them. Here’s how good my memory is. I remember ads of her sitting on the toilet while wearing Skechers. After a quick google search I find how messed up my memory is. Those were Candie’s, not Skechers. Geez. So what the heck did Jenny McCarthy’s Skechers ads look like? Heck if I know. But I definitely remember her promoting them. And apparently Kelly Clarkson and Christina Aguilera also did some racy ads for the shoe company in the past. Anyways, upon visiting the Skechers website, I just noticed Ashlee Simpson plastered on the homepage. What gives? Is Skechers completely changing its image and going for a more “wholesome” teenie bobber look? (Do teenie boppers even still exist? They’re all emo and disgruntled now, right? And they go by the name &ldqu...

The icing on the cake
2007-08-08 20:36:00 I’ve mentioned it before, and I’ll do it again. My wife is 500 times the artist than I am. Though she totally doesn’t see it, she really can work magic with a box of Duncan Hines cake mix and a can or 2 (or 11 in some cases!) of Pillsbury vanilla frosting. She’s got all ... Can you sting me?
2007-08-08 04:48:00 So apparently I’m allergic to bees. Or more specifically, yellowjackets (or as I call them, the A-holes of the bee kingdom) and white hornets. I’ve been stung many times in my life, usually with just a standard reaction. Localized swelling and some itchiness. Only 2 times was it really bad: One when I was a ... More About: Sting
The language of lov?, er, savings!
2007-08-07 19:33:00 I’ve always loved languages. Don’t know why, I just find it fascinating. I took Spanish in high school all the way through senior year (Aced my Spanish AP exams too! Yay me!) and even took 1 or 2 classes in college about Spanish literature, etc. I have no Spanish in my blood, I just really ... More About: Language , Savings , Ving

Poop all you want! Free diapers!
2007-08-03 21:49:00 I shudder to think how much money we’ve spent on diapers in the past 4 years. Our oldest is just about out of them as he’s being potty trained, and our little one is teetering between sizes 5 and 6. So while we’re not quite near that light at the end of the diaper tunnel, ... Take the shirt off my back, please!
2007-08-03 20:43:00 I’ve got a friend named Mike who is the King of free T-shirts. In fact, we used to call him “Free Shirt Mike.” Okay, okay so we never called him that. But we should! Drink to your health? for free!
2007-08-03 18:01:00 So I went to the movies with a friend last night. Saw “The Simpsons” which I enjoyed way more than I thought I would. Police your fashion at a discount
2007-08-02 20:42:00 So like if you get busted by the fashion police, do they give you an initial warning or lock you in a designer dressing room until you finally cave and trade your ratty cutoff shorts and Batman T-shirt for some fancy shmancy Armani suit or something? No, really. I want to know. Okay, I certainly ... More About: Fashion , Police , Poli , Discount , Disc

My pants don?t fit
2007-08-01 17:07:00 Okay, so I lied. My pants fit fine. Actually they’re a little loose these days. Probably cause I’ve been eating fairly healthy and started exercising a few weeks ago. We have a great park nearby with a huge lake that’s roughly 3 miles around. So I’ve started walking it twice a week with a friend. ... More About: Fitness , Pants

2007-07-31 16:33:00 In my college days I volunteered as a DJ for the campus student-run radio station: 90.5 WHRW, Binghamton, NY. 2007-07-31 06:06:00 Worst bee sting I ever got? That’s easy. Flash back to the ’80s. Nice hot summer day. Gotta be the shoes (or the 20% off more likely)
2007-07-28 22:13:00 Even if you can’t jump (like me and Woody Harrelson), you can appreciate “the shoes.” I’ve always like Nike, though I never quote understood what their swoosh logo is all about. Now Puma, that’s a name I can understand. A big scary cat that can run way faster than me. But a swoosh? I guess ... More About: Outdoors , Shoes , Apparel , Gott , Gotta
Feet sale! 30% off at Footlocker.
2007-07-27 01:50:00 Oops. Sorry. My mistake. Apparently Footlocker sells neither feet nor lockers. But they do have a decent selection of athletic footwear, apparel and equipment. And speaking of feet, I have pretty average feet. Honestly, I don’t even remember what size I wear. I buy sneakers/shoes so infrequently, I never remember. I think it’s around an ... Save on Bloomies! Er, that?s Bloomingdales, not underpants?
2007-07-26 22:42:00 Okay, so maybe it’s BloomERS, not BloomIES that refers to big honkin’ undergarments. So sue me. Wait, don’t. Please don’t. I really don’t have the time, nor the funds for that… I also can’t think of 1 good tie-in anecdote to Bloomingdales . Nope, not a one. So, instead I’ll tell you my all-time favorite joke. ... 2007-07-25 17:02:00 Remember the show “Win, Lose or Draw ”? I think Bettie White used to host it even.
