I recently purchased these Paris Blues Distressed Stretch Skinny Jeans Size 7 at a bargain and when they arrived to my house, I tried them on, and yes, they did fit, they were just a little snug, basically meaning they looked painted on. What? Don't judge! I'm starting an intense bicycle workout today!  Anyhoo, I've since put the jeans up on Ebay with a starting bid of only $1.00.  Check 'em out here, and place a bid!Also R.I.P. Addressing the PETA Ad...

A little Hip Candy "housekeeping". Some of my readers have expressed concern over the PETA ad in my left sidebar featuring a scantily clad Pamela Anderson.  I was even taken aback a little when it first surfaced (the ad buy is for the entire month but it changes from week to week).  PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) uses very provocative measures to get their messaging across and this ad is no different. I regret not saying something about it when it first surfaced because of the highly provocative visual, as I do have a few young readers.  But although many of you have already clicked on it (yeah, some of ya'll already know exactly what it is, the click through numbers don't lie...) the ad is not what some might expect.  The ad is all about animal cruelty, nothing more.  Just wanted to take this opportunity to offer some reassurance to my loyal readers.  Chanel

My Homemade Maxi Dress...

You'll have to excuse the camera phone shots of my maxi dress, these pics really don't do it justice and I'm really quite proud of it!  I finished it last week in time to wear for my birthday. I used a pattern that was for a shorter dress, so I  lengthened it considerably. Pockets are also a hugely out of control mild obsession of mine, so of course I added a pair of hidden seam pockets on each side about 3.5 inches down from the empire waist.  The weather here is still amenable to wearing something that may seem more suited to spring/summer, especially if paired with a scarf.  I kept it basic with a pair of flat red thong sandals and hoop earrings.  It was fun to wear!

WTH kind of look is this?  Melanie wore this get up to the MOBO Awards in London on October 15th. I don't like the hair, I don't like the dress, I don't like the hood, I don't like the shoes, I don't like the makeup, I don't like the diamonique encrusted armholes, pockets, zipper and hem... did I miss anything?  Mel B. rarely "gets it right" for me in the style department, but this right here is just too much.

Beyonce's new music video has been circulating for a minute now, and that's totally not the name of her new song in my blog title, but you already know people are gonna be calling it that. I thought it was ok, it's a little spastic for me, but I gave her an "E" for effort.  And it wasn't until I saw the video comparison below over at Dlisted that I noticed similarities in Beyonce's new video "Single Ladies" and the classic Bob Fosse choreographed piece, "Mexican Breakfast" led by dancer Gwen Verdon.  The old broads have Beyonce and her team beat if you ask me, that being said, I can certainly appreciate the effort that Beyonce put into paying tribute to a classic.

Sweet Confectionary Delight at Agatha de la Prada...

As I was poring through more fashion week pictures this morning, I came across the Agatha Ruiz de la Prada  designer runway show, and while looking at them, I thought to myself, nothing in her show was actually wearable.  Like, wearable on the street. But I don't think that that was the point.  Photo after photo, her dresses were all so sugary sweet and fun!  If her runway show was a dessert, it would be around 10,000 calories a bite.  We see so much serious fashion coming down the runways, that the Agatha de la Prada show was just a breath of fresh and fattening, high calorie-content, air.The Agatha Ruiz De La Prada Spring/Summer 2009 fashion show was held on October 8, 2008 in Mexico City.

Wow.  The iPhone has really started something, huh?.  At least I think it was the first phone with the cool magic touch screen, so I'm gonna keep thinking that the iPhone (the phone I own) was the trendsetter, the groundbreaker until someone tells me otherwise (I've had my 1st gen iPhone for about a year now. The CW is spinning off its hit reality series "America's Next Top Model ." The network has ordered a pilot for "Operation Fabulous," starring "Top Model" regulars Jay Manuel and J. Alexander and executive produced by "Top Model" chiefs Tyra Banks and Ken Mok.On "Fabulous," "Jay and J," as Manuel and Alexander are called on "Top Model," will travel the country giving women makeovers. In various towns, the duo will select five participants and give them "Top Model"-style overhauls -- how to dress, wear their hair and makeup and bring out their confidence with the support of family, friends and their community.The project, from Kristina Productions, Mok's 10x10 Entertainment and Banks' Bankable Productions, seeks to capitalize on a fan-favorite "Model" segment, when contestants are given head-to-toe high-fashion makeovers supervised by Alexander. Due to the extreme popularity of the current presidential election, Saturday Night Live has enjoyed a huge ratings boost.  That's why "Weekend Update "with Amy Pohler and Seth Myers is gonna be aired during the week for the next few weeks up until the election in primetime on NBC (Thursdays, 9:30/8:30 Central).  Being a long time SNL fan, I'm excited about this, so I'll be watching.  I think SNL is a rerun this Saturday, but don't quote me on that one.  Meanwhile, check out Sen. Joe Biden below on Good Morning America laughing hysterically at the SNL VP debate skit and their portrayal of him.

Esquire Magazine has named Halle Berry "Sexiest Woman Alive " in it's November 2008 issue.Alongside a photo spread that shows her in little more than a T-shirt, Halle Berry talks about being the sexiest woman alive, a title Esquire magazine gives her in its November issue.  "I don't know exactly what it means, but being 42 and having just had a baby, I think I'll take it," says Berry, who gave birth to her daughter, Nahla, in March.  "Sexiness is a state of mind _ a comfortable state of being," she says.
