When is the best time to shop at IKEA?
2007-11-17 00:00:00 Someone emailed us and asking when is the best time to shop at IKEA. The huge product range, the amazing price and tons of people sometimes could be overwhelming for some people. Well, anytime is good to shopping at IKEA except: 1. First month after a store open Want to turn your shopping experience into a disaster? Then visit a new IKEA right after it opens. esp. on weekends. NOT. There are many people just can’t wait. They rush into the store but can’t buy anything because there are too many people want to buy the same thing and takes forever to get the item they want. We do not recommend that. Give your new store few months. Once a store hits it’s six months mark (even as little as three), the waves are going to come down and you will have much better shopping experience. IKEAns are able to help you better that way too. 2. Busy weekends Weekends are always busy. Try to avoid doing your planning on weekends. Better planning your purchase at home and pick them u... Good buy - IKEA Grossby bunk bed
2007-11-17 00:00:00 If you are an IKEA fan, I expect you to own an IKEA catalog. Now, turn to page 367, we are going to talk a bit about this special Grossby bunk bed. Did that price take your breath away? I can’t believe it is only $79.99. I know a lot of people will question about the quality as soon as they see the price. Guess what? I can’t really tell the difference between Grossby and Tromso. The design is so similar to Tromso bunk bed. But it’s only half of the price! There is no way you can find that kind of deal anywhere else. But you have to hurry though because supplies are limited. It comes with slats so you only need to get two mattresses and you get yourself a nice bunk bed for the price you can never imagine! Talking about keep the price low! More About: Good , Ikea

Experience Stolmen system
2007-11-12 00:00:00 Finally, we installed stolmen system in our tiny closet(80″X24″X90″) and we are very happy about the result. We’ve carefully compared stolmen with Pax and decided that stolmen is the way to go. There are few problems with Pax if we had done that. 1. The ceiling is not high enough for 90″ frame so we have to use 79″ frame. Since we have overlay on top, 79″ pax frame will completely block the 10″ on top of the closet. Also, we would completely clock out the access to attic which is in the closet. We don’t want to lose that 10″ since we already have a small closet to work with. 2. Not only we have overlay on top, we have over lay on the right size of our closet too so that would make the installation extremely hard if we choose to do pax. Stolmen fits better because: 1. The width of our combination is 75″ total. But we don’t lose that 5″ on the side since we put couple hooks that could give us extra han... More About: System , Experience , Erie , Stem

2007-10-28 01:00:00 Foam mattresses are generally cheaper than other types of mattresses because their simple structure. Thus, a lot of people has questions about IKEA foam mattresses. Let’s talk a little about them today. Question 1: Does IKEA carry memory foam mattresses? No. But IKEA does carry foam mattresses that has a layer of memory foam. There are two different kinds of foam mattresses have that feature: the Sultan Forestad and Sultan Furudal. The differences between Sultan Forestad and Sultan Furudal is their material. Sultan Furudal has natural materials like silk, cotton and lamb’s wool. (Thats why it is more expensive than Sultan forestad. Question 2: Return and exchange policy IKEA has a 90 days 1 time exchange policy on their mattresses. 90 days is plenty of time to test out your mattresses. IKEA Hemnes bunk bed
2007-10-21 00:00:00 One of the reasons we love IKEA furniture so much is their smart functions which provides smart solutions for our living situation. One of my personal favorites is this IKEA Hemnes bunk bed. Having two kids but not much room for them to have their own bedroom? Bunk bed is the best solution. Kids love bunk bed. I remember when I was a kid, climbing up to my bed makes me so excited and actually helps me following sleep quicker. The special part about this bed is, if your kids grown up, you don’t need it anymore, you can break it down to two single beds for your guests. And yes, they are two identical single beds. Isn’t that wonderful? You switch the headboard and foot board and there you have it. No need to purchase any additional guest bed for your vacation home. Solid pine with a dark brown stain give you that timeless look. You can achieve all that for less than 350 dollars. More About: Ikea

To Meegan & all IKEA fans,
2007-10-05 00:00:00 Earlier today I’ve received an email from Meegan for a very interesting question about IKEA. I decided to post it here as an open letter for all IKEA fans. I was so excited when I found your blog! I am an Ikea lover who has already driven a truck 1,300 miles (from Atlanta to South Florida) full of Ikea furniture. Well, now we have an Ikea opening up in Sunrise, Florida! Excitement! Here is my question… Of course I am planning to be one of those in line to make my way into Ikea on opening day. However, I have heard rumor of a large gift card given to the very first person in line. If this is true, I will be making plans for my very own Ikea camp-out. Do you know how I can find out if this rumor is true? Thank you for your help! Dear Meegan, Although IKEA is a global wide cooperation, each store has it’s own unique design and each of them will have their own idea of how to run the store. As for our store, the first visitor gets a T-shirt printed “I wa... More About: Fans
Create your own paradise with IKEA
2007-09-28 00:00:00 I fell in love with the front page picture because it has the feeling I was trying to create at my home. A piece of paradise that belongs to me. Live in a city, sometimes you have to be creative in order to live large. By using the HULTET Room divider creates two different spaces in a tiny little space. How to find gem in IKEA As-is room
2007-09-23 00:00:00 Savvy IKEA customers love their as-is room. It is a room where all used display items, open package items and damaged items go. It is also a room for you to find your gems at a huge discounted rate. So let’s talk about how to shop there today. 1. Learn how to read the tag Tags at IKEA tells everything you need to know. So does tags in as-is room. They tell you whether the item is damaged, or display or open package. Sometimes, they even tell you the most important reason for discount like: missing to chairs or doesn’t have a certain parts. Knowing what you are getting will help you find a better deal. 2. Don’t forget to measure Even though some of them are dirty cheap, you still want to measure before you purchase. As-is items are final sell so you won’t be able to exchange them if you find out they don’t fit. (Then it become clutter.) 3. Visit often and visit early Gems will not just sitting there wait for your discovery. If it is a good deal, most... More About: Find , Room , Ikea
IKEA Kitchen gears that makes your life better
2007-09-20 00:00:00 One of the happiest place in the world is IKEA cook shop. You can always find something there that could be used in your kitchen, or, some places you could never thought. LÄMPLIG Chopping board is one of the must have item. (Yes, we own it.) It is only $9.99 and it is soooo worth it. I always set it only sink when I am preparing my food. Left overs goes right into the sink and leave my counter clean. Trust me, when you prepare for dinner, you need it. Esp. if you are a messy cooker. DISTANS food saver series is another must have item. I bought quiet few sets myself. Just love them. Don’t forget those cute SLOM jar with lid. You can use them with almost anything. From flour to sugar to any seasoning you could possibly think. What amazes me the most is their unbelievable low price. Few questions about IKEA from customers
2007-09-14 00:00:00 As an IKEAn, we do our top ten questions routine to ensure the best quality services for our customer. Here is a collection for few … 1. Does HÖLLVIKEN Sink has to have a sink base? No. IKEA HÖLLVIKEN Sink can be mounted to your wall. It doesn’t require sink base as a support. It fits with ENSEN, ENSKÄR and APELSKÄR wash-basin faucets. Recommend sink base size is 23″ wide. (You can use any width with any material if you want to.) We plan on doing a granite counter top right underneath the sink without cabinet. That way we have extra counter space and our bathroom will look more spacious. 2. How long does it take to assemble something? It depend on what product you are assembling. Some could be more frustrating than others. We recommend at least two people to assemble bunk bed, loft bed, wardrobe system and beds. Tips: Read the instruction carefully and be aware of the unfinished side. (make sure they are not facing front.) It is a great accom... More About: Questions , Customers , Ikea
IKEA Hemnes series
2007-09-08 00:00:00 Hemnes line (designed by Filippa Eneroth) amount the best sellers in IKEA product rangs because it’s simple design and solid wood quality. One of the eye catcher for this year is the IKEA HEMNES Four-poster bed frame (see picture below). It is bright yellow with blue print. Traditional design with fun colors. (We just got some news about getting some black-brown color four-poster bed frames in. They are discontinued items that is stored in distributor center which will be available in our store soon! Can’t wait to see them on display. I personally think that color will be more popular than the master yellow simply because there are more things to match with.) Hemnes 4-poster bed frame(yellow) also has a matching chest of 3 drawers that comes in the same finish. (As in picture above.) We love how deep the drawers are. I personally like the red finish better but it’s just me. Some customers mixed the 4 poster yellow bed frame with red finish chest of three draw... More About: Series , Ikea , Serie , Erie

Designer furnitures vs IKEA furnitures
2007-09-04 00:00:00 Who says your room can’t look expensive if you don’t have designer furniture? We found few that looks just like those designer pieces with much smaller price tag. Left: John Kelly Furniture Tau Chest - High $1,600.00 (Designer public) Right: Malm chest of 6 drawers $149.00 (Designer:IKEA of Sweden) Do they look like brothers and sisters or what?! They both have six drawers and colors are very close too. (They both have dark colors as well which is more like black-brown). The slight difference is their frame style. The expensive one is cleaner than our MALM chest of 6 drawers and it’s also slightly wider than Malm. But the designer one is more than ten times of the price! More About: Ikea

Curtain pillows
2007-09-01 00:00:00 We all love those adjustable IKEA curtains, right? Not only they are very affordable, they are easy to customize the length you want. So when I need window treatments, I went ahead and got myself some curtains. The standard curtain length is 98″ and I only need 80″ so I cut the access off and got myself some beautiful new window treatments. Then I thought, why not make some throw pillows from those waste fabric so that my bedding can tide in with my window treatments? So here it is, my IKEA curtain waste throw pillows… Throw pillow is one of the easiest thing to make on the earth. And, you can use them anywhere you want to. All you need is some left over fabric (in this case, we use left overs from my window treatment.) and a pillow insert( get those $2.99 ones from IKEA, they work great!) You can do any design you like. We add silky stripe in the middle to create some contrast with our basic fabric. You can add more interesting patterns if you want to. We cut ...
PAX vs. Stolmen
2007-08-28 00:00:00 There are two different closet systems available at IKEA to help customer solving their closet storage problems. Pax system is more traditional and enclosed while Stolmen system is more open and modern. When it comes to plan your closet space, function is always your number one concern. Ask yourself those following questions and you will be able to make your decision within a minute. 1. What kind of closet space do I have now? If you have a walking closet, then your options are wide open. You can do Pax or Stolmen depend on which one is more of your taste. If you have one of those built in closet, perhapses with some over lay on top or on side of it, you might want to reconsider doing pax system. Stolmen will give you the maximum amount of space. If you don’t have any closet right now, you might want to do Pax on an entire wall as an unit or (if you don’t feel like being creative) just get a wardrobe and call it a day. 2. How much storage space do you want? There are...
IKEA wooden slats vs. box spring
2007-08-27 00:00:00 People often got confused about combination price banner we have above each bed’s. As IKEAn, our responsibility is to explain everything as brief as possible. The combination price usually includes: the price of the frame and Hamar. Hamar is a metal piece support that goes in the middle of each bed to support your wooden slats or your box spring. Combination price does not include wooden slats. For details about how to choose a IKEA bed, read more from here. Today, we are going to talk a little about IKEA bed base: AKA wooden slats. Bed base wooden slats serves same purpose as your traditional box spring- It supports your mattress. People often asking: What’s the difference between wooden slats & box spring? 1. IKEA wooden slats are cheaper than box spring Slats are starting at 20 dollars while box springs are starting at 129 dollars. I want that bath sink unit...
2007-08-27 00:00:00 It is not surprising that I got disappointed at our local home improvement stores, I was though surprised at the limitation of bath sinks we have in IKEA. There are four different sinks and that’s it. Don’t get me wrong, they are beautiful. They are just not breath taking beautiful. So I browsed around for some “wow affect” bath sink and found one that could be put on my wish list. Tetsu™ 28 Inch Wall System Kit $1,174.90 It is so simple and the design idea is great. The unit has everything you need from mirror to sink to extra storage space. For someone who lives in a small space, nothing can beat this functional unit. How to avoid discontinued or out of stock "luck"
2007-08-24 00:00:00 One biggest problem we are facing right now is out of stock items. Many customers get disappointed at the fact that products are always out of stock. Some of them drive 100 miles to get the desk they want, others simply visited IKEA for few times and still go home with empty handed. Here are some tips of how to avoid “out of stock bad luck". 1. Do your home work before visit the store Always go to IKEA.com and flip through their catalog to see if your favorite product is a popular one. If the product you want to buy appears in catalog more than three times or it is a “low price item", it is a good idea to call before you visit the store. Check how many inventory your local store have for that day and act quickly if they do have some. Popular items or promotion items go out of stock really quick. And it takes few weeks for that store to get the same product back in stock. Once they are out, you might have to wait another eight weeks before there is hope again. (For some ... Portland loves Hemnes
More articles from this author:2007-08-21 00:00:00 Hemnes is one of our very popular family line which carries bed frame, bed side table, chest of drawers and wardrobes. There are three different sizes available in chest of drawers that seems to be extremely popular. Esp. this Black Hemnes chest with 6 drawers. We also have a lot of people asking whether we have white which we do and white one is $30 cheaper than the other two colored ones. I have to admit, the black one does look awesome and according to some of our customer, it has awesome quality as well. We have three colors in chest of 3 drawers: red, yellow, and white. (Both red and white are out of stock which tells you how popular they are.) The reason why Hemnes chest of drawers are so popular could be: 1. Simple & classic design that fits everyone’s eye. Hemnes is the only line that attracts people from 20s to 80s. Lots of mid age customers are very proud that they made the right decision while some young couples are s...
