IKEA and home staging
2008-04-28 00:00:00
“IKEA is the perfect source for home staging", “I don’t know what I do without IKEA", “I don’t know how other home stage professions do their business without IKEA” - A professional home stager revealed his secrets on one of Diva in the house radio show. It was not a surprise to me that IKEA furnitures are one of his favorite. As a matter of fact, it is many professions favorite in this business. (Just by surfing around, I was able to find many prove from their “before & after” picture. ) IKEA has been in a leading business in home furnishing for a long time now. Their success is no accident. It is the result of great design, reason price and easy installation. We’ve long know that their product has wide range of style. You can find country, modern, or European. That allows those home stagers to achieve whatever they are going after. The prices are so affordable. (Probably cheaper than renting other furnitures.) If you ar...

Ange
2008-02-20 00:00:00
Beside all the bring bright greens and hot pinks, there is something that states spring without using any loud color. This new Ange chair reminds me with those pops on chair every college student want to have or used to have. But it’s modern and it’s improved. Each piece of furniture is unique. $129 is a very fair price for spoiling yourself with a new topic piece in your yard and have some coffee with friends at a sunny afternoon. Material properties similar to rattan so it’s easy to clean . P.S. Don’t like that whole at the bottom? Just get use to it, it feels great!

Pax stordal doors
2007-12-21 00:00:00
One of my personal favorite sliding door for Pax is Stordal. So does many other folks. Currently, we are having big sales which attract many attention as well as questions. (Pax stordal is going through a name change process so all stock items needs to be cleared out before those new items come in. Right now many stores are having sales. In our store, it’s 25% off. You can save up to $150 per door.) Someone want to use Stordal as a room divider. Great idea! If you can find a way to attach both top and bottom guide rail, I don’t see why not. One might require to have a contractor skill in order to get things done right. (And I seriously believe there are folks out there that have done that before. Email me your picture if you did. ) More people wondering if they can just get the door without buying the whole frame thing. I know there are people who has done that and the result is awesome. You have to frame your built in closet though. Also, you have to find a way to...

Bathroom storage - Laxan
2007-12-13 00:00:00
Storage in bathroom has been a big issue for us. We started to pile everything on our counter top because we just don’t have enough space to put stuff away. So last weekend we decided to take down the old storage above our toilet and get a new unit. It took me a while to figure our the best fit for my space. Laxan seems to the best option. So we bought two of them and made this new storage unit. Here is the before and after pictures. There are few modification on those handles as you can see. I switch the door on the bottom cabinet and put those handles on top so that we don’t hit our head when using the toilet. (I took the little distance piece out so that I can open those doors.) Also, the whole thing looks more like a whole unit instead of two. I know what you think. Isn’t that seems to be too big? Well… it might be for some people. We love how much space we have now and we just love it. The whole thing cost less than $160. It took me about 15 min...

Good read about IKEA passion
2007-12-13 00:00:00
I happen to come across an good article about IKEA passion while doing my research. So I thought you might want to check it out as well… here it is: From Kobe to Kiev to Kuwait City, IKEA is making Swedish the world’s second language. Each day more than one million shoppers are trying to master the umlaut, if only to request a Poäng armchair, Mysa Lätt quilt, or a Bankäs coffee table. IKEA afficianados lobby to get a big blue box in their neighborhood, camp outside on the eve of grand openings, and have been trampled in the mad rush for $150.00 gift certificates. IKEA has more imitators than Ingmar Bergman, and more rabid fans than ABBA. IKEAmania has come to occupy an impressive chunk of cyperspace where design mavens laud the chain’s new fabric designs, environmentalists extol the stores’ green practices and foodies critique IKEA’s $0.99 cafeteria breakfast. To many devotees, having their work celebrated on ikeahacker carries more ca...

IKEA Mandal beds
2007-12-01 00:00:00
Mandal bed frame are amount the most popular bed frames. They are always sold out! There are two different styles from Mandal though. (With or with drawers at the bottom of the bed.) Since it’s that hot, we thought it might be a good idea to share more information about them. Mandal bed frame without storage box rang from $179-$249 (Full double- king size). Wooden slats are sold separately. Mandal platform bed frame with storage boxes rang is available in Full/double($279) and Queen ($299) size. (Built in slats so you don’t have to spend extra on that.) It comes with 4 storage drawers at the bottom of your bed which provides excellent storage space. One funny thing about full double size is the length is same as a queen size bed. (4″ longer than regular full/double size beds) Either of those Mandal bed frame require Hamar midbeam. And we have to talk about that headboard since we are mentioning Mandal. The height of each headboard is only little over than 24&Pri...

2007-12-01 00:00:00
Remember couple days ago we made a post: Can you recognize this cabinet? One of our reader Kat happened to recognize the picture from one of IKEA Hacker’s post. Turns out, our guess was right! it is actually a kitchen counter top (pronomen) and kitchen wall cabinets (faktum with ärlig doors) There you go Joe, there is your answer! And thanks again Kat!!! You are awesome!

What is midbeam?
2007-12-01 00:00:00
Most people who shops for IKEA bed will get confused about the midbeam. What is it and what does it do? Do we really need it? Let’s talk about the HAMAR(midbeam) today. Hamar is a metal piece that goes in the center of your bed to support box spring or wooden slats. The length is adjustable so that will work on all full/double, queen and king size beds. As long as your bed is full/double, queen or king size, you will need it with couple exceptions: (Both mandal beds don’t require the midbeam. The other bed that doesn’t require midbeam is Dalselv.) The cost for hamar is $10. Price usually included in every display price. You do have to pick it up separately though. A lot of people got upset after they assemble their bed and found out that their bed is not completed without that piece. (No wonder why, right? ) If you are planning buying a bed from IKEA, do your research first. And of course, don’t forget to grab the critical piece- hamar midbeam.
How to install stolmen post
2007-11-28 00:00:00
Often people asking: is it hard to install stolmen at home? The answer is not really. (At least not for me. And I don’t consider myself a handy girl.) It is fairly easy as long as you’ve got a level at home. There are two way to attach the IKEA stolmen system at home. You can either secure to your ceiling or to your wall. You can find brackets for wall mounting in your post package. (Even though you don’t need those fixtures for wall mount, keep them just in case if you need it later.) Attach the post to your ceiling might be the easier way. (At least I personally think it was really easy.) I was wondering how do I determine the distance between each post before I open the package. Luckily, the instruction tells me how to mark room between each post. Then I install two posts with something light to adjust my desired distance. (like the a cloth rail or a shoe rack.) It is little tricky when it comes those fixtures. (I attach them on the post before I installed ...

Can you recognize this cabinet?
2007-11-26 00:00:00
Q: Can you recognize those cabinets in this picture? Our reader Joe sent us an email asking about those cabinets in the picture above. (Nice set up!) However, since there are so many different cabinets in IKEA, it is so hard to tell which one is the right one in the picture without any more details. If you happen to recognize them, send us your answer at support@ikeans.com Our guess: Either they are kitchen cabinets (AKURUM/ RATIONELL) or they are bathroom cabinets (Vattern). If the height you are looking for is 36-38 inches,(including legs) then I would use akurum/ cabinet. If the height you are looking for is 24-30 inches then I’d use bathroom cabinets. Either one has the same door to go with them. Hope that helps. More reader questions: ikea mattresses questions To Meegan & all IKEA fans

First trip to IKEA Orlando, FL
2007-11-21 00:00:00
The following post is made by Meghan (Great job, Meghan!) Ikea has arrived! Orlando , FL finally has an Ikea! Up until last month, when the Ikea opened in Sunrise, FL, the closest Ikea was Atlanta. And with the price of gas… that just wasn’t happening. So when our Ikea opened here in Orlando on Wednesday it was a big deal. People camping out for days, hundreds of people there when the doors opened, and $11,000 spent on off duty police officers. I wasn’t able to head out on opening day, but when my best friend suggested hitting up Ikea for a few hours on Friday before dinner I took her up on it. Myself, my hubby, my best friend, and her hubby arrived at Ikea at around 6 pm on Friday and stayed until around 8:30 pm (had to get to our dinner reservations). We actually didn’t have a terrible time finding somewhere to park. There were tons of folks directing you where to go and we actually got a spot right in front of the entrance. I took my obligatory picture of...
