Real Women Model Jordans Lingerie
2008-03-07 12:01:00 Glamour model Jordan stripped to her undies with 6 competition winners to show that all women look great in her sexy new collection by Panache. Now more commonly known as Katie Price, she used a selection of different women, from petite to plus sizes, to highlight the fact that everyone should be embraced.?Fashion modelling is totally different from glamour modelling. They?re all about being skinny while we?re all about celebrating our curves.?I launched my underwear range on Wednesday and I just got a bunch of normal-sized women to model it.?Other celebrities have stick-thin girls modelling their underwear but I don?t think that?s right. Good underwear has to fit every shape and size. I just believe that whatever size you are, you can be sexy and you should embrace it.?It is so refreshing to see a mix of real women that the public can relate to promoting underwear. It is hopefully a large step in the right direction of size acceptance - and by that I don't just mean plus size, but ... More About: Women , Lingerie , Model , Real
Adele - Proud of her Curves
2008-03-05 16:29:00 The first time I heard Adele on the radio I was an instant fan of her sexy, timeless sound. She has seen huge success over the last 6 months or so, but as with any curvy star, she has had to put up with a certain amount of media sniping about her weight.I am heartened to hear that Adele has the strngth of character to ignore such comments - she really has the personality and talent to be a role model to women in the UK who want to succeed and fight the stereotypes that weight has anything to do with talent.Adele fights back against the negative criticism by making her views public - 'People are starting to go on about my weight but I?m not going to change my size because they don?t like the way I look. They can f**k off. My favourite way to relax is to get a pizza or curry and get lots of beer round my house. I also love Malaysian food. My weakness is alcohol.'In another interview she said - 'I?ve always been a size 24-26, and been fine with it,' Adele told The Times. 'I would ... More About: Curves , Proud

You can vote for her in the Surrey regional heat by visiting http://www.missengland.info/. Chloe is 5ft 10 with a curvy 38/32/42 figure. Miss England organisers are behind Chloe, saying she has what it takes to shatter the stereotype that beauty means being stick-thin.Angie Beasley, Miss England director said: 'The sky's the limit for a beautiful, curvy girl like Chloe. She has already made history as the first plus-size entrant and I hope many more will follow and promote bigger bodies.''Girls are under such crazy pressure to be thin these days.' says Chloe. 'I'm not a stick insect but I've got a strict exercise regime and I enjoy looking pretty. When I pick up a size 16 in Topshop I'm made ... More About: Size
The Clutch, A Spring Essential
2008-02-27 13:36:00 When building your wardrobe for the coming season it is always important to buy some fab accessories that will work as finishing pieces to your look.No girl can be without a bag to carry her daily necessities, but this daily must have can also be your most daring accessory and really make an outfit work. If you are conscious of wearing too much colour, or being overly brave with the patterns used in your clothes, use your choice of bag to make a statement instead. This season's must buy bag is the large clutch so if you invest in one special bag this spring, it's the star buy. The general rule of thumb is the bigger, the better, and there is plenty of choice on the high street. A particular favourite of mine is this red patent solid croc clutch, which is detailed with diamantes, and even has a chain shoulder strap which you can add if you get bored of holding on to it. It's also available in tan croc and black. More About: Spring , Clutch , Essential
Next say Hide your Love Handles
2008-02-26 13:46:00 Next are a big name in high street fashion, and although willing to sell their clothes to some smaller plus sizes (albeit grudgingly), it seems they don't want any lumps & bumps on show in their stores. The leaflet pictured has been distributed to staff in some Next shops and advises their female staff of many ways to assure they look as slim as possible when working their tills. Firstly, they would like their women staff to try 'magic pants to hide lumps & bumps'. They also give a number of tips on how to cover large tummies & bottoms, plus advise to wear pinstripes to slim and avoid tight fitting AND baggy clothes which will make you look bigger. Susan Ring, Chief Executive of Eating Disorder charity Beat told the Daily Mail: "What Next is saying here is that it wants the people who work in its stores to look as slim as possible so that the customers see the clothes on the staff and want to buy them. Stylists should be trying to show people the best ways to show off... More About: Love , Hide
Favourite Oscars 2008 Fashion
2008-02-25 16:53:00 The red carpet season continues with the 80th Annual Acadamy Awards ceremony last night in Hollywood. Although the whole night was a civlised (if not slightly dull) affair, with no major surprises, hiccups or the like - there was still some hot (and not so hot) fashion on the red carpet to contemplate. Some of my personal favourites this year included Nicole Kidman in a gorgeous black Balenciaga dress & Heidi Klum who wore a show stopping bespoke red gown made by John Galliano. I was also a big fan of Jennifer Hudsons dress this year, a full length white beaded number by Roberto Cavalli, which showed her voluptuous figure at its best. My favourite by far, however, was actress Kelly Preston. She appeared on the red carpet with husband John Travolta, wearing a gorgeous strapless Roberto Cavalli gown in deep yellow. The simple cut paired with the bold but very this season colour really make a statement. In contrast, my worst outfit of the evening was worn by best actress winner - Ma... Top Style at Brits
2008-02-21 15:28:00 The celebritites attending the 2008 Brit Awards did not disappoint, and all arrived well turned out amidst a whirl of sparkle, shimmer & glitz. For me, the red carpet winners were Fearne Cotton, who presented the ITV live show and showed up in a small but perfectly formed satin shirt dress, Rihanna who looked simply stunning in a silver strapless dress, and of course - Beth Ditto in a daring coral strapless tutu style dress. The show was opened with an extravagant performance from Mika, who went on to win best breakthrough act. He was joined on stage by gorgeous plus size inspiration Beth Ditto, who had changed & looked stunning in a sexy red satin & lace number. As always, size 20/22 Beth shows the world that you can be just as daring with your wardrobe when you're more voluptuous. It was most heartening to see the array of shapes and sizes on show - raising hope of a more accepting view on size acceptance for the future. This included Adele, whose debut album 19 recent... More About: Style , Brits
Hooray for Online Shopping
2008-02-20 15:48:00 As a long time convert to the joys of online shopping, I was not surprised to find out that more and more of you are starting to agree.Fashion is now second only to books when it comes to shopping online, according to the latest Nielsen Global Online Survey published in December. It is the fastest growing area of any e-commerce category, with about 36 percent of Internet users saying they had bought clothing, accessories or shoes online in the three months before the survey. This is a huge increase from the 20 percent who reported doing so only two years before.Britain, Germany and the United States had an especially high number of online fashion shoppers, with slightly more than 40 percent of the users reporting online purchases.Ebay is still the most visited website, in general and for fashion shopping. But the growth of the market has meant there is a budding array of interesting boutique style websites which offer each niche as rich a shopping experience as the standard size 10 ... Who ate all the Pies?
2008-02-15 13:31:00 A pie making firm near Caerphilly, Wales, has taken a stand against hungry looking models used at London Fashion Week by sending its 'Starvation Army' volunteers to deliver pasties & sausage rolls to the catwalks. The firm says it has struck a blow against 'skinny models and size zero fashionistas' Peter's Food Service said it took 10 boxes of pasties and sausage rolls to the London Fashion week event. The pie-making firm said it decided to address the issue of ultra skinny models when the topic was debated at the London Fashion Week last autumn. A spokesperson for the firm said: 'Who knows it may even be the end to size zero.' The company is hoping for feedback on its 'Starvation Army' delivery from organisers, but was glad to hear from the models themselves -'Some of the models said 'we might be tall and we might be thin but actually we do get hungry'. It is not the first time the pie-making firm has mobilised its 'starvation army'. In July 2007, the bakers prese... More About: Pies
Flowers for Spring
2008-02-14 16:17:00 With Spring definitely in the air it's time to take a closer look at some of the trends of the season, particularly the ones that translate well into plus sizes. One of my favourite continued trends is the use of pattern, specifically florals, although most patterns go at the moment. From simple sketched sprigs to delicate tea roses, girlish daises, vibrant azaleas and lush, exotic hibiscus - any floral pattern is a definite winner - Although for plus sizes it would be best to avoid all over large prints which can highlight larger areas.Angular cuts and exaggerated silhouettes lend a modern edge to retro florals. I favour the strong bold prints out like the skirt pictured from Curvety, rather than more cutesy florals. More About: Flowers

BAFTA Red Carpet Fashion
2008-02-11 15:40:00 The 2008 BAFTA Awards didn't disappoint on the fashion front, so here is a glimpse of the best red carpet fashion from this years big night. There was definitely a black theme this year, but not the good old faithful little black dress. Instead, Jessica Biel (pictured), Amanda Peet and Sienna Miller are proving their style credentials in stunning floor length black gowns with definite wow factor.Another trend at this years prestigious awards ceremony was the backless dress - as shown again by Sienna Miller, Kate Hudson & Myleene Klass. There was also a good sparkle of metallics, showing that this trend is still winning over the stars. If you want to emulate a red carpet look for a special night out you have planned, going for a floor length black gown with style, like Jessica, will guarantee a timeless & sexy look which will turn heads. Particularly on a curvier figure. Try this stunning black velvet gown available in sizes 16 to 36 at Curvety.com. More About: Fashion , Red Carpet , Carpet
5 Steps to a Healthier Fashion Week
2008-02-06 15:04:00 I am as excited as the rest of you about the forthcoming London Fashion Week . However, for plus size women like myself, it is always slightly tainted due to the lack of acceptance of curvy women in the high fashion industry & the continued promotion of super skinny on the catwalk. With the ongoing issues surrounding the size zero debate, Susan Ringwood, CEO of Beat, the UK?s leading eating disorders charity, issues a challenge to the fashion industry to ensure the health of its models this fashion week.Ringwood's plea - ?Progress has been made through the Kingsmill Inquiry, to look at the overall industry and take steps to protect those working within it. We would urge the fashion world to follow through the recommendations made by the Inquiry and issue the following call to action:OUR CALL TO ACTIONFive steps that everyone can take ? no matter where or how they are involved in the fashion industry:-1. Is Spring in the Air?
2008-01-31 14:16:00 Ok, firstly I'll admit that looking out of the window today is not filling me with the joys of Spring . However, when walking the dog over the last few days I have been surprised to see the sprouting of tulips and other spring flowers along my way. Apart from the odd day (like today) the weather has been pleasantly mild for the time of year - so I thought it time to turn my thoughts to Spring/Summer fashion. Spring promises a soft and feminine feel in fashion, with sheer silk dresses which are so delicate they will dance at a hint of summer breeze. Following the success of purple in Winter, Spring will bring a new lighter shade - violet, which will be a key colour in all tones. Even denim will be turning soft, in faded blue washes and wispy frayed seams. Floral & safari patterns, and indulgent hand painted fabrics will also be out in force. So get girly this season, and for some plus size fashion essentials try Curvety.com.
Real Curves Slated Online
2008-01-30 18:37:00 Recently pubished photo's of the beautiful and curvy wife of Pierce Brosnan have caused a nasty stir which proves that it is still seen by some as acceptable to slate the plus size.Keely Shaye Smith, former soap star and wife to 007 actor Pierce Brosnan, was last week pictured on the beach in Hawaii, daring to show her curvy figure in a bikini.TMZ.com ran with now and then pics of the happy couple, with the earlier pic showing a slim Keely. The title read 'Double Oh No! Pierce Brosnan and his wife, Keely Shaye Smith, had a whale of a time on the island of Kauai on Wednesday'.While it is not politically correct to judge by race, gender or social standing, it is still deemed ok by some in the media to be down right rude about weight. I was gladdened to see that most of the readers on the TMZ site were commenting on how beautiful she looked in the beach shot & how wrong TMZ were for their nastiness.'I think it's great that she is proud of her body,' said S. Nikki Blonski chooses Igigi again
2008-01-23 15:56:00 Nikki Blonsky has always been a bit of an Igigi fan and has worn several pieces from the IGIGI collections to her public appearances in the past, including the Hairspray premiere and the Marianna dress she wore at the 'Critics Choice Awards 08'. The actress is next to appear in Igigi at the 14th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the end of January, but this time it will be in a couture dress. Custom designed by IGIGI Founder and Designer Yuliya Zeltser, Blonsky's gown is made of stretch charmeuse satin in a vibrant royal blue and comes with a ruched sweetheart neckline and a cascading hemline with a long trail. IGIGI has done it again! Yuliya truly understands the details involved in designing elegant, sophisticated silhouettes that celebrate curves. I just love this design. It fits Nikki like a glove and the color is gorgeous! She is very excited to grace the red carpet in another one of IGIGI's original designs at the upcoming SAG awards.' Plus Size & Fighting Fit
2007-12-18 20:28:00 As an active & healthy person who exercises daily despite being overweight, I am a firm believer that how fit you are is more important than your weight. Until now popular belief would say otherwise, but now research is coming to light that proves weight & health are not necessarily linked.A US study that followed 2,603 people over 60 years old for an average of 12 years found that those who were very unfit were most likely to die - regardless of whether they were overweight. The participants all received an initial medical check, underwent fitness tests and had their fat levels measured. They found that while the degree of fatness was not associated with an increased risk of mortality, being unfit was. Those in the fittest 20% of the sample suffered an annual death rate of 8.1 per thousand people, while those in the least fit 20% experienced an annual death rate of 32.6 per thousand. The results are reported in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Medical Associa... More About: Fighting , Size

Plus Size Party Looks
2007-12-10 16:32:00 The festive season is truly here & with it numerous parties, gatherings & events. I thought I would share my top 3 party outfits for the curvy plus size woman to celebrate this fab season in style. House Parties - I love a good house party which is the perfect way to catch up with all of your friends & family and have a good natter, a few drinks, and a bit of a dance in a relaxed atmosphere. It is often a hard occasion to dress for as you need to get the right balance between smart & casual. For this year's house parties I will be wearing this jewelled charmeuse camisole in Autumn's hot colour block trend with jewelled neckline. Pair with favourite jeans and some fabulous shoe boots. The Office Party - Your work party is the perfect chance to let your hair down with your colleagues and show them the 'real' you - outside of your work suit or uniform. I like to keep the look sophisticated, whilst suitably dazzling like this layered dress in chocolate which is sure ... More About: Size , Looks

2007-12-06 11:47:00 San Francisco based plus size designer line - Igigi (www.igigi.com), have announced the launch of a new size. The designer range which has been pictured on full-figured celebrities like American Idol contestant Lakisha Jones and Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky, have listened to their customers and bridged the gap between straight and plus sizes by adding US size 12 (UK 14) to their collections. The company introduced a small collection of dresses and tops for women who struggle on the high street as they wear neither a straight nor a plus 14. Later this month will see the launch of a comprehensive work collection made up of separates including jackets, pants and skirts.?We are very happy to add size 12 to our collections,? said Yuliya Zeltser, IGIGI Founder and Designer. ?It is hard to shop for a woman who is in between straight and plus sizes. Spring/Summer 08 Colour Style
2007-12-04 15:01:00 It's time for some early peaks at what is expected to be hot for Spring /Summer 08. Get a head start so you can get some Christmas requests in that will guarantee you are the best dressed in 2008.High fashion rails will boast a luscious mix of bright cartoon like colours with fuchsia and coral being top choices. Floral prints were everywhere on the catwalk, including collections from Stella McCartney, Dries Van Noten, Roberto Cavalli and Dolce & Gabbana. Nude and pastel shades will offer the coming season an alluring sophistication for the less flamboyant. And finally - to add some glitz - there was much use of gold, from small accents and detailing to full on shimmering sensation. The best thing about spring/summer 2008's strongest colours is they look great worn all together or one by one. There was a time when following fashion when a plus size was nigh on impossible. Thankfully times have changed and now the choice in larger sizes is much improved. I particularly like this ... More About: Style , Colour
Look Hot in Fuschia
2007-11-27 13:27:00 Hot pink is so much cuter than red, but bolder than navy or black and has made a huge come back this season with designers and celebs alike. Pop stars like Nelly Furtado and Victoria Beckham have been spotted in this striking shade, while quirky fashionistas including Chloe Sevigny have made it an off-beat choice for the party trail. The look can be taken even further with a purple cardi & opaque tights - colour block clashing is very this season! If you're not quite that brave try this hot fuschia dress which has great colour with a very flattering shape for plus sizes, plus only a small amount of contrasting colour, ensuring you are on trend but the overall look isn't too bold. New Zealand Bans the Obese
2007-11-23 14:19:00 Doctors in New Zealand recently campaigned to ban fat people from entering the Country. How, I hear you say, can this not be discriminatory. Well it has been successful and has now happened.35 year old Rowan Trezise has been rejected from entering New Zealand when her husband applied for a work visa. He chose to lose weight to get admitted himself. His employer backed skills visa was initially rejected by immigration officials when they discovered his BMI was 42, making him morbidly obese under New Zealand regulations.Mr Trezise, a submarine cable specialist and a former soldier, said: 'My doctor laughed at me. He said he?d never seen anything more ridiculous in his whole life. Not every overweight person is unhealthy or unfit.'But Robyn Toomath, a spokesman for Fight the Obesity Epidemic and an endocrinologist, said the BMI limit was valid in the vast majority of people. She said she was opposed to obese people being stigmatised. 'However, the immigration department?s focus is d... More About: Obese
