The New Face of Louis Vuitton...Mikhail Gorbachev!?!

When it comes to promoting their luggage, luxury brand Louis Vuitton has looked beyond the usual suspects of starlets and young models to be the face of their new fall/winter ad campaign. Instead they've chosen former Soviet Union president, Mikhail Gorbachev . Yeah, I was shocked too. And for the female counterpart cast in these more upscale ads, Louis Vuitton has chosen 64 year old French actress, Catherine Deneuve.The ads (as you can probably tell, because they've got her signature style written all over them) were shot by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz. They feature the former Soviet Head of State sitting in the backseat of a limousine as he passes by a part of the Berlin Wall. I must say that I really like these ads. They definitely speak to the sophistication that one expects from the Louis Vuitton brand. And I also must commend LV for looking outside the box for spokesmodels. for pricing, click shoe pictureI've had my eye on these Hale Bob peep toe pumps for a while now. So imagine my surprise when I saw the shoes being worn by Heroes cutie Hayden Panettiere. The young starlet showed her support for fellow Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia at the premiere of his directorial debut, It's A Mall World. Hayden is one of my favorite celebutantes because she manages to be stylish while remaining age appropriate. Her black and white Alice + Olivia dress paired with those Hale Bob pumps are the perfect combination. Paris Hilton To Launch High End Footwear Line

Clearly, those with money will back anyone if they believe it will get them more money. According to Women's Wear Daily, Paris Hilton will be launching her own self named high end footwear line, some time early next year. The line, which will feature platforms, wedges, and other styles seen on Paris herself, is being produced by the Antebi Group a footwear manufacturing company. Of her new line, Paris had this to say,"My goal is to create a stylish and fun fashion line from head to toe. Antebi Group really understand my vision for this line as well as the needs for the fashion-forward young woman."I understand the lure of celebrities creating their own clothing lines. The idea is that customers will be drawn to that celebrity's name and be more likely to purchase. But I can't think of anyone who would buy a product because it has Paris Hilton's name on it. Remember when Jennifer Hudson signed on to be the new face of Avon? Sure you do, lol. Here are the first ads to come from that partnership. I must say that I like the tone of these ads-- the darkness, the purple, Jennifer's dress. So far it appears as though Jennifer's popularity from her Oscar win isn't going to be a one time deal. She has a movie in the works with fellow Academy Award winner Forest Whitaker, a friendship with one of fashion's Grande Bathches, Andre Leon Talley, and now this Avon ad campaign. Some have somewhat criticized the move, citing Avon's limited reach. But these ads are going to appear in at least six women's magazines this August, and will provide Jennifer with more exposure. I actually like this cover, but it seems as though Harper's Bazaar is putting everyone on their cover these days. Can I get in on the action? Lol. But she definitely has a fashion hit on her hands with this upscale take on the classic shirt dress. I love how Amerie's taken this basic dress and glam-ed it up by simply pairing it with nude Christian Louboutin pumps, and a teal Balenciaga motorcycle bag. The greatest thing about Amerie's dress is that it's from The GAP. Yes, you can get this bad boy from The GAP. I'd love to own Amerie's complete outfit, although I know I can't afford Christian Louboutin's. But never fear ladies, because nude pumps have been big this season, so I'm sure you'll have no problem finding a low end alternative to Amerie's high end pump.

I think it's safe to call it true love when husband and wife get matching dye jobs. Brad Pitt has done it with each of his lady loves, Posh and Becks do it all the time, and now Gwen Stefani and hubby Gavin Rossdale are sporting matching blonde 'dos. Gwen and Gavin can easily be called one of Hollywood's most stylish couples, and they're a fashion inspiration to the masses. I think I see a new hair trend on the horizon-- his and her (or her and her, or his and his) hairstyles. Would you and your significant other get matching dye jobs?I also have to say that I love Gwen's more natural look here. She's just as beautiful 'done down' as she is when she has on a full face of makeup. Even if you think he's kind of nuts, you've got to admit that Tom Cruise knows how to throw a party. Hollywood power couples Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, and Will Smith and Jada Pinkett, combined forces to throw a lavish "Welcome to Los Angeles Party" for David and Victoria Beckham. This party definitely wasn't lacking star power. All the big names (and even some small ones, lol) came out to welcome L.A.'s latest additions, and along with all the big star names came fabulous star fashion. Rihanna looked her usual cute self at the party. High waist pants may be questionable, but high waist skirts are definitely on point. Rihanna perfectly pulls off this vintage trend. The high waist skirt shows off her tiny waist, and its pairing with a black tank allows the skirt to take center stage. Serena Williams on the other hand needed to reassess her outfit. A few months back we found out that Academy Award winner Djimon Hounsou would be the face of the Fall 2007 Calvin Klein Underwear ad campaign. Well now we're awarded with the first fruits of that labor, and boy were they fruitful, lol. Djimon looks beyond excellent in these ads, and of his fab body, he had this to say,“I regularly watch how much, when and what I eat. It really becomes a daily journey. You just have to do it - get up, eat something, go to the gym - so you can burn as much as you can and look lean. It’s pretty challenging.”I guess women aren't the only ones who have to watch what we eat. The ads were shot in the Palm Springs desert by photographer Peter Lindbergh, and are said to be a throwback to the original 1980s Calvin Klein Underwear ads.

But when I saw these pics of Kate Middleton (Prince William's rumored on-again girlfriend), I knew I had to share. This grey and white ensemble that Kate is wearing is so classic, it's a look that will be as current next summer as it is now. The perfect way to wear skinny jeans is to pair them with a flared top, and that's just what Kate has done. The contrast of the straight lines of the jeans, and the volume of the top is extremely flattering for almost any shape. What's also great about Kate's look is the combination of grey and white. Eva Longoria's lavish wedding to San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker is going down today in Paris France, but the two were married yesterday in a civil ceremony. In France you're required to have a civil ceremony before you can get married anywhere else, so the two were married yesterday by the mayor of Paris himself. Eva wore this classic pink Chanel dress to the first of her wedding ceremonies. She's been criticized for pairing her dress with a somewhat gaudy necklace and platform pumps, and normally I would agree, but this look is just pure Eva. When I saw these pics of her at the photo call for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, I just thought her look was too adorable. Emma's simple black dress with basic white tee and sleek mary janes are so age appropriate, yet could be tailored to work for a woman of almost any age. How Not To Wear It....Jennifer's Shirtdress

A few days ago, I featured this fabulous anchor print shirtdress from J. Crew. Now we see actress Jennifer Love Hewitt wearing the same dress, but getting the look all wrong. First off, I don't particularly like the dress' fit on Jennifer. When you're a well endowed Batch! you have to be careful with button ups. They must be loose around the bust but fitted at the waist, or it will create a frumpy silhouette. The same rule applies to shirtdresses. Jennifer's dress fits around the bust, but is too large around the waist, making her look a bit larger than her actual size.My second problem is with Jennifer's choice of shoe. Because the dress hits right below the knee, it shortens the body. To achieve a lengthening affect, Jennifer should have worn a heel. I know how it is sometimes, and every now and then you just want to wear flats. Jennifer could have just worn a pair of cute flat sandals, or if she still insisted on wearing sneakers, a skimmer would have been better s...

I really wish Eve would let go of this platinum hair, or at least style it differently. She looks fabulous at the BET Awards in a body hugging Dolce and Gabbana cheetah print dress. But Eve's hair just cheapens the overall look. If you keep your eyes off the hair, you're able to appreciate this look. The dress is so gaudy (in a good way), that it calls for the wearer to glam up the look even more with accessories. Eve does just that by adding stacks of sparkling bangles, and a long gold chain. Rihanna definitely had one of my favorite looks of the night. With her curly asymmetrical bob, and white strapless dress, Miss Fenty looked fabulous. This look definitely proves that less is indeed more. This dress and its detailing are so on point, that Rihanna was able to keep her accessories to a minimum. She keeps it simple with earrings, a big ring, and a thin necklace. Anything more would have taken away from her look.Picture Source

Eva's showing off a new cut that's longer than her usual close cropped 'do. Clearly she's one of those ladies that can wear their hair at any length and any color, because she looks just as fabulous here as when she had the shorter, blonder hair. I always felt that Eva was one of the more beautiful winners of America's Next Top Model, and with this look, she's proving that she was worthy of her Top Model status.

I haven't seen Leelee Sobieski in a while, but if this is her idea of fashion, I'll kindly ask that she stay wherever she was, lol. Leelee sported this fetching look at the opening of the newest Hermes store on Wall St. in New York. This outfit is just all kind of wrong. The high waist pants, the bra/bustier, the lack of jewelry, I can't find anything about this look that I like. What exactly was Leelee thinking? Maybe I'm just being too harsh.
