Seriously Fergie?...High-waist Overalls!

Not only is this high waist trend not going anywhere, but it's also appearing in other forms. Check out Fergie as she wears high waist denim overalls. I gotta admit, though, that in the second pic they're actually not that bad. A few months ago Nia Long wore a similar pair of overalls to a basketball game that were extremely cute. I've gotten a few requests to find who made her pair, but I can't find those bad boys anywhere, lol. The one thing I don't like about Fergie's jeans are the fringe on the bottom. I can forgive the high waist. I can forgive that they're overalls. But I cannot forgive the fringe, lol. What do you all think of this latest twist on the high waist jean? It somewhat works for Fergie, but I'm not confident that I could pull it off.

Jessica Simpson made an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival in France, and it's easy to become distracted by all the stripes on her dress. It's easy to just be distracted by her dress period, lol. But if you keep looking lower, check out Jessica's shoes. I love how her tan heels blend perfectly with her tanned skin and almost make it look as though Jessica isn't wearing any shoes. This would be a perfect summer look to show off both your great legs, and your fabulous tan. Plus, with the shoes matching Jessica's tan so perfectly, it makes her legs look infinitely longer. I'm sure that trick will work for you, too!

ANTM Cycle 8....And The Winner Is?

The winner of America's Next Top Model Cycle 8 is Jaslene!!!!!! After my favorite girl Dionne got the boot, I fully got on team Jaslene for the win, but I never thought it would be Natasha and Jaslene in the final two. I was definitely shocked to see Renee have to go home early, and to have the judges send her home because they thought she looked too old was ridiculous. If anything, it was the short cut that Tyra gave Renee that made her look older, because in the pics where she has long hair, Renee looks just as young as the other girls.Of all the girls, I always thought Jaslene looked the most like a model. I could easily see her on a runway. When it came down to the final two, I couldn't envision Natasha winning. Can you imagine listening to her "My Life As A Covergirl" segments? This season's must have shoe-- worn by everyone including Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani, and Victoria Beckham-- is available for pre-order from Saks Fifth Avenue. The Yves Saint Laurent Tribu te Mary Jane is available online for only $660. Yeah, I know that a lot of money for a shoe, but if you've got the extra cash and you're a shoe freak, then these are a must have. The instant these shoes appeared on the celebrity scene, they began selling out everywhere, so if you want them, this will probably be your easiest chance to get them. The Tribute Mary Janes come in two heel sizes, four inches, and the version seen on most celebs, six inches! I believe the Saks version have the four inch heel, so you won't have to be an acrobat to get around in these, lol. If you want to be the like the famous people, you gotta get these shoes while they're hot!

Is Cameron Diaz on to a new trend? The already established fashionista was snapped wearing skirted overalls at an appearance on TRL. Overall s have been slowly sneaking into the celebrity fashion scene. They've been seen on everyone from Nia Long to Fergie, but I believe this is the first time I've seen them with a skirt. I don't know how well Cameron's look would translate in the 'real' world. I think it works for her because she's on the slim side and has mile long legs. So unless you've got Cammy's fab shape, maybe you should just let this trend slide. Then again, I know you batches are creative, and can probably find ways to make this look work for anyone.

First there were pockets, and now celebrity dresses are sporting a new trend-- pleats. When done correctly, pleats add something unexpected and fun to any dress. Celebrity-wise pleats have been seen more on formal dresses, but they can be done casually. Just make sure the pleats are on dresses that have longer lengths; those that hit at or below the knee. From her dress choice at the MET Costume Institute Ball, to her latest video, Rihanna has definitely become an aspiring fashionista. Her wardrobe has been on point lately, and this is the second time I've wanted something from her closet. Rihanna wore this fabulous Matthew Williamson sequined sweater during her hosting duties on MTV's TRL. If I had $800 dollars to spare, I definitely pick it up, lol. Maybe one of you batches has got it like that (go girl!), and can get this bad boy for yourself.p.s. Can I just say that it's great to be home!

You may or may not have been wondering what was up with new posts. Well, it's that time of the year again. The semester has ended, final projects are due, and the university is kicking me out of the dorm, lol. My week has been filled with finishing up those pesky final projects, and my weekend has been spent packing up my room, and moving my things into storage. But the end is near, as I'll be on a plane headed home to Louisiana on Monday morning. So batches! don't worry, your regularly scheduled programming will be back on Monday night/Tuesday morning :D .

Runway v. Celebway...Costume Institute Gala Edition

Molly Sims in Armani PriveFirst of all, this Armani Prive gown would be difficult for anyone to wear. But actress/former model Molly Sims manages to look just as great, if not better, than the runway model. I think the main difference between Molly and the model is their hairstyles. Molly's curled, free flowing hair works better than the model's updo. Both Molly and the model look wonderful, but I think Molly edges out the win in this fashion face off. Cameron Diaz in Christian DiorA few days ago, actress Drew Barrymore wore a green Christian Dior gown from the same collection as Cameron's. The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit Gala went down last night, and the celebrities were out in full effect. The annual Costume Institute Gala is probably the fashion event of the year, second to no other event except maybe the Oscars. This year's theme was, "Poiret: The King Of Fashion," honoring Pual Pioret, the self proclaimed king of fashion. Poiret was a French fashion designer around the time of WWI, who's probably best known for his designs that freed women from the corsets that were worn during that time. So many people came out for this year's Gala, so I just chose a few of my favorite looks to share with you all. Cameron Diaz definitely wore my favorite look of the night in her magenta Christian Dior gown. I loved this dress on the runway in January, and I love it on Cameron. Can I just say that I think this is the best I've ever seen Drew Barr ymore look! She's on fire as she arrives for an appearance on The David Letterman Show, and it's not just because of her gorgeous Salvatore Ferragamo red dress. The combination of this bold dress with her loose, wavy hair, is just perfect. I also love how she's kept her accessories to a minimum, allowing the dress to remain the center of attention. Her gold hoops, bangles, and dressy sandals, are all this dress needs. With a dress this fierce, you don't want your accessories to compete. At this point I think Mischa Barton is making her clothing selections based on what look can get her the most attention. I mean she can't be serious with this outfit. Ladies you know I appreciate other's opinions, so if I'm wrong about how awful this is, let me know, lol. Not only is the she wearing high waist pants that are too short, but Mischa's pants are also made of sequin! The funny thing is, if the pants were made of some normal fabric, like cotton or denim, and went all the way to the floor, Mischa's look would have been kind of trendy.

I don't know if Serena William s hired a stylist, or if she just had a fashion epiphany, but the girl has been on a style upgrade as of late. We saw her yesterday in that great Catherine Malandrino sundress, and now here she is in a classic 'little black dress' at the Louis Vuitton LOVE party in NYC. This is such a fabulous look for Serena, I don't even know where to begin, lol. The neckline on this dress is perfect for her. It brings attention to her face, and allows her to show off those fabulous arms. And the way the dress gathers at the waist, perfectly accentuates her athletic body. Tennis star Serena Williams and actress Jada Pinkett-Smith, recently showed off similar looks with the same Catherine Malandrino print. While Serena opted for a printed chiffon dress, Jada went with the printed chiffon top. I absolutely love both of these pieces and wish I could afford their nearly $500 price tags, but if I had to choose a favorite, I'd go with the dress. But, I do think that Jada is the winner of this fashion face off. I love how she's paired her top with white pants; definitely a summer look. Actress Keira Knightley graces the latest cover of Elle Magazine. This is the issue that contains her now infamous interview in which she says she doesn't want to be famous."The celebrity thing is completely crazy. I think I just have to move away or give it up altogether. I couldn't have kids in the situation I'm in now. But I could just do something else. That's probably what's going to happen. I'm just not so hungry any more. I made a decision very recently that I wanted a life instead."You know, if she wants to give up fame, that's cool. Clearly it's not all what it's cracked up to be, just look at Britney Spears (so sad). But, I don't think announcing it in a magazine, while appearing on said magazine's cover, effectively gets the point across. Despite her feelings about fame, she does look fab in the photo shoot. ANTM Cycle 8...Episode 10, Go See This, Go See That

Finally, it was the return of a new episode of everyone's model search reality show. After last week's recap ep, I was more than ready for some new content, and boy did episode 10 bring it. Last night's episode was the annual go see/tyra as photographer ep. Somehow Tyra manges to take the best photos every season. This year it was all about capturing the girls at early morning in low light, in order to appeal to a female audience. Clearly the competition is getting tight now, because all of the photos were great. On the flip side of Tyra's shoot, the girls also did a shoot in the style of layouts found in men's magazines. These photos also were gorgeous, and I think the two pics combined were the best we've seen all season.Dionne and Brittany were in the bottom two. ANTM Cycle 8...Sweet Dreams

This week's episode of America's Next Top Model was the always must see makeover episode. In past seasons this episode has provided the most drama of the show-- girls crying, girls quitting the show, girls obsessing over their hair. In the drama department, this season's makeover ep was kind of a let down. Yeah Jael had a breakdown, but any of you who've had sewn in extensions or sat eight hours getting braids, know that her tear session was deserved. The makeovers were definitely upgrades all around, although for some of the girls the difference was minimal. Chanel at Hip Candy has the before and after pics for those who missed it.This week's photo challenge had the girls play dress up (even though they were completely nude) as desserts. I think this is one of the worst photo shoots I've seen on ANTM. It wasn't the girls, overall they're pictures were great. But, the set and props looked cheap as hell. Covergirls...Christina Ricci does Mean Magazine

So it's actually Christ ina Ricci and Samuel Jackson on the cover of Mean, but it's Christina who looks exceptionally fabulous, and slightly Asian, lol. The photo shoot was done as press for their movie Black Snake Moan, and I think this is the best I've ever seen Christina. Our little Wednesday Adams has definitely grown up. Clearly this 'Old Hollywood/40s vintage' trend isn't going away any time soon. Christina definitely has an old school vibe going on in this shoot, and just like the other Xtina, this look works well for Miss Ricci.

Anthropologie has to be one of my favorite stores. Think of it as a higher end Urban Outfitters (if Urban could get any more expensive, lol). Anthropologie treats clothes not only as being functional, but also as being works of art. They choose merchandise that is as unique as it is well crafted. Their prices are a tad bit expensive, so either you save up for that special piece, or shop their sales. Anthropologie has great sales!

Black and white is a color combination that's just as classic as it is trendy. It's a look that appears season after season, only getting updated to reflect current trends. For this spring/summer season, black and white has appeared in bold, geometric patterns, mini dresses, and tailored blouse and skirt combinations. This is a combination that never goes out of style, so it's important to look for classic pieces that will carry throughout the seasons. Go for solid pieces-- a black dress, a white blouse-- that can be combined with looks when not being worn during the warm months. But don't be afraid to have fun. It's okay to pick up trendy pieces, like tops with polka dots, or dresses with bows. You never know what trends are going to come back around.
