Romain Kremer, a relative new-kid on the menswear block has ensnared me of late. With a boundary-defying and intensely colourful SS 08 collection Kremer shows he's in no sense, one to follow some of the restrictive, unspoken menswear rules.AW 07 08After winning the Special Award for Creativity- International de Mode et de Photographie à Hyères 2005 Kremer did not decelerate showing several more innovative and illuminatingly refreshing creations...SS 07SS 08 Look-BookPromising or what?Images from Romainkremer.com
Brando.
2007-10-12 23:51:00
I should probably be posting this at a more apt time...when something like a retrospective of Brando 's magnificent work/Brando's anniversary crops up but I'm fresh out of excuses and to be perfectly honest, I reckon anytime of day/year is perfectly suitable for a spot of Brando admiration.Arguably the most influential actor of all time, Brando evoked such feeling whether it be fury or untamed lust. Above all, the temperamental Brando brought a very unique and intense passion to his work. A sound role-model, don' t you think?-wife-beating and mafia-matters aside.Brando as the fiery yet tender Stanley Kowalski in A Streetcar Named Desire-wearing that tight-fit crew neck that was to symbolize lean and mean for some time.As Don Corleone in The Godfather for which he won an Academy Award. Sicilian mafia-style never looked so sharp.Last Tango in Paris seems to be getting a lot of attention from the femmes right now due to Maria Schneider's apparel. However, Brando's Paul should also...
S***R Collaborations for AW 07
2007-10-10 22:30:00
I've been a S***R devotee for quite some time now and each and every time I buy their wares I never fall short of adoration. So incredibly of-the-moment and always with a directional, astounding style injected with the uber-cool essence of the London streets, Swear are permanently on-form.Not a label to hog all the glory, Swear reguarly join with a variety of creatives from graffiti artists to big-time retailers such as Topman, to produce footwear that's wearable, casual, dashing and comfortable and so many more adjectives. Here are the collabs. for AW 07 08...Best One for S***RD.I.E. for S***RFred Perry for S***RImages from Swear
Move on Tom...
2007-10-09 22:50:00
Tom Ford's feature to be found in the November issue of Out Magazine left me disappointed and decidedly irritated. Ford is, of course, a more than capable and without a doubt resourceful designer, we're all aware of the many wonders he's worked from Gucci(I heard at one point the house didn't even possess a photocopier...) to YSL Rive Gauche but I'm sure we're also all quite aware of Ford's penchant for the sensual and sexual, provocation and allure which has, I think, grown so terribly weary of late. That's why when I saw these images I just sighed with indifference...Tediously amateurish photography(Terry Richardson's to blame) and an incomprehensingly boring concept. It's time for Tom to move on.Images from Perezhilton and TFS.

Sheer Here for SS 08
2007-10-06 22:42:00
From frail see-through knits at Prada, to plastique transparency at Burberry Prorsum. One of the hottest trends for SS08.I think it goes without saying you shouldn't dare try this without a washboard midriff, strive to incorporate the sheer aspect subtly, as seen at Jil Sander and remember, it's only a trend, retain your style.Images from Men's Style.com

Gentlemen's Quarterly

Vogue launched their extensive online archive of delectable covers not so long ago and now GQ have made a move in the same vein, 50 years of GQ. I've selected a few of my personal favourites.Interesting to see the number of covers featuring semi-clothed women rocketed post-millenium.Images from Men's Style.com

'Sean O'Pry-VNY'
2007-10-02 22:17:00
As the wiseman, JD, once said - "Not in twenty years has there been a face like VNY's Sean Opry" - I reckon it's been much, much longer, if ever. Feline features that usually only manifest in females are Sean O's greatest strengths, this of course does not deem him feminine but instead an otherwordly masculine sculpture. Jovial, charming and taking it all in his stride, take a hint from him and you'll never be without your gentlemanly swagger.Images from MH.com - Video from Youtube.com
Dior Diamond in the Rough
2007-09-29 15:29:00
I can't reveal to you just how many hours I've spent trawling through the sheer bulk of items on eBay, searching for gems, for that something I just can't find on the high-street or that designer-quality something I just can't get my mitts on at a reasonable price. Of course, being male, searches for "charcoal pea-coat" or "patent brogues" unfortunately do not yield a mass of results or in the case that they do, you can wager that the majority will be entirely unsuitable, eBay is really not the choice online source for men. Like a great many other things in life, the fairer sex possess the advantage, especially where eBay is concerned. ; )And that's why it's with a distinct sense of satisfaction that I write this post as I just recently found this...A Christian Dior Monsieur dress shirt for under 10 euro, a steal if ever I saw one, albeit it's nothing extravagant or innovative but it has managed to more than satisfy my hunger for clean-cut basics.Image from eBay.

MAN in London
2007-09-29 00:07:00
The v.productive joint efforts of both on-trend retail giant, Topman , and new-talent nurturer, Fashion East, has resulted in the MAN show for the last four years. A platform for streetwise and dandy, sporty cool and gentleman chic designs and those that create them, namely(for SS08), Carri Mundane of Cassette Playa, Aitor Throup, KJ by Kim Jones and Topman Design.Aitor Throup, an immensely conceptual designer who marries tailoring of the highest degree with sensibility and endearing ease. The results are beautifully sculptured, subtly individual pieces that carry a story all of their own. For SS 08, a video installation and presentation were the canvas Throup preferred, this collection was inspired by the aftermath of hurricane Katrina in New Orleans and Jazz instruments. As I said, conceptual...I'm a tad sorry to say that Mundane of Cassette Playa did not show promise regarding furthering and diversifying her brand's aesthetic. Certainly, it's fitting for her niche market but ...
