jovovich-hawk for target
2008-02-18 07:09:00 As you know, Target is one of my favorite stores. Which reminds me that I should buy some stock so at least I am getting a return on my investment...But to be honest, I am not really that excited about the new Go International designer for Target. My excitement level is about the same as it was for the Patrick Robinson collection. Jovovich -Hawk is coming to Target next month on March 2nd as the tenth guest designer for Target. The line isn?t really my personal style, but there are some interesting pieces. Currently, you can find it at Net-A-Porter. Here are some pieces from the Target collection.Jovovich-Hawk for TargetTo get a peek at the looks for Target, click here.photos: target
love notes: tassel necklace
2008-02-18 07:02:00 I have a couple of tassels in my craft box. I sometimes use them as zipper pulls but I have been longing to make a necklace. I was thinking about getting a lightweight long chain and attaching the tassel to it....wispy. I imagine it hanging long, with the end hitting right at the belly button. If you are not feeling as crafty or just lazy, here is the 40's Flapper Girl Necklace .photo: sparkling sage More About: Love , Notes

style hunt: coin purse + a little eel
2008-02-18 02:28:00 I just got this new eelskin coin purse. I've been looking for a coin purse for awhile since rummaging for change usually means digging at the bottom of my handbag. My criteria was that I wanted a frame coin purse and something that was a little bigger than the normal size. This one is about 7? at the widest point. And I wanted a coin purse, NOT a wallet. When I stumbled upon this one, I did a little research on eelskin and apparently it gets softer when used but remains durable. I really like the natural pattern that it has and it is something that I don?t think I?ll see others pulling out of their handbags.I also discovered that eelskin was really popular in the 80s and 90s but kind of fell off partly because of urban myths that eelskin demagnetizes credit cards. The theory behind this was that since it was made out of an electric eel, a ?sufficient electric charge survives the tanning and manufacturing process.? Actually eelskin wallets & accessories are made out of a rather n... More About: Style , Hunt , Coin
v-day baby!
2008-02-14 19:33:00 THIS is my Valentine's gift from my boyfriend. Jealous much? One of the reasons that I love my boyfriend (as if THIS wasn't enough) is that when I pushed him out of my path to get to the Jimmy Choo boutique, instead of getting upset, I am thinking that he took a mental note that this place might be an important priority. Or if I am looking through one of my magazines and shove a picture of whatever handbag/shoe/dress I am purring over because there isn't anyone else in arm length distance, instead of totally ignoring me...he tries his best to mumble something nice about it.. Now this is a man who does not know his platform from his bootie, but he knows his girl! I am not a huge jewelry person (though if given a piece, I will not turn it down...), but I do love me some shoes. Best. gift. ever.Happy Valentine's Day!photo: by me More About: Baby
let's get physical
2008-02-13 16:23:00 I joined a gym. That was a deliberate pause. My past gym experiences have not been so good because I am L-A-Z-Y. It is just so hard for me to actually go, but once I?m there, I DO WORK. I am a little more motivated this time because I joined with my best friend and we will push each other?a little friendly competition. As I was doing the tour of the gym, I walked around with the most perfect posture and kept catching glimpses of myself in the mirrors. That is another problem that I have. I feel like I am in the spotlight every time I go to the gym and have to be ?perfect.? My clothes, my poses, how I walk, everything. I draw the line of wearing make-up to workout. This time around I am not going to fret over which t-shirt & shorts or making sure I am ?cute? before stepping out on the gym floor?especially since we plan to take some 5:30am classes. I?ll let you know how that works out. More About: Physical , Get Physical
shopping bug
2008-02-12 06:05:00 Does the shopping bug ever hit you at the most inappropriate time? I was trying to get through an essay today, and after re-reading the same paragraph five times only to get to the end of it and not knowing what it said, I gave up. The problem was -- I had a conversation with this girl and she was going on and on about how she just came from the thrift store and ALL of the wonderful stuff they had. After that I couldn?t focus. Especially since the store was literally three minutes away. So I packed up my stuff and was ready to shop! What she failed to mention was that she had shit for taste. I couldn?t find anything! I mean they had tons of stuff but it was all crap. You know those stores are truly a hit or a miss. But I was so determined that I was going to find SOMETHING. I double and tripled checked some racks and on my last walk through I found this.My first thought was that it looks a bit mod, even follows the color block trend. But that is not why I got it. It looks... More About: Shopping
oh my lamb!
2008-02-12 03:35:00 They are called Bonsai Sheepskin Sandals. It is kind of one part Ugg and one part Rainbow. Or as I like to think to think -- the ultimate greek shoe -- equal parts sorority girl and frat boy. They web site says...Bonsai Sandals can be worn in the summer or winter and combine the total comfort of a sheepskin lined boot or clog with the casual freedom of a flip flop. The unique "thermostatic" properties of our highest-grade genuine sheepskin allow Bonsais to keep your feet warm in the winter and cool in the summer. Unlike sheepskin boots or closed-toe clogs, flip flops let the sheepskin to b r e a t h e as you walk, so the footbed remains comfortable and dry.I have ALWAYS strongly disagreed with the concept of wearing flip-flops in the winter. And especially when it is raining. On those days, I usually find a window seat in my favorite coffee shop and snicker at those who choose to wear non-traction/non-waterproof/non-warming shoes. I am not happy camper if my feet are not happy so I qu... More About: Lamb

allow me to re-introduce myself
2008-02-07 13:11:00 It has recently come to my attention that I never really introduced myself. You could read my profile, but when I thought about it, if someone came to my blog it would seem that Neutrogena Visibly Even was my motivation. Which is great, but not quite.During my twentyplusodd years on this earth, I have worn many hats... *deep breath* .... hip-hop & indie rock radio dj (i know), fashion stylist (bands & musicians), model, shopaholic, drama queen (actually musical theatre), freelance writer & photographer, slam poetry goddess, seamstress, annoying overachiever, totally non-judgmental friend, shop girl (times infinity), satisfied slacker & bonafide procrastinator, girly feminist, broke college student, misunderstood loner, megaconglomerate marketing suit, professional world traveller and all-round pretty fabulous woman*exhale*I realize that none of this really qualifies me to have a fashion blog but now you know me a little better, right? the other britney
2008-02-07 03:16:00 Brittany Murphy @ Fashion WeekGirl, I was with you until the shoes. I like the scarf as a scarf (by itself), but not with this outfit. But I was willing to accept it. It was the shoes that sent me over. The shoes remind me of something you would find in a 80s clearance shoe bin. Stop it. Some patent leather platforms would be better. no party
2008-02-06 06:01:00 Vanity Fair announced that it has cancelled their annual Oscar ?after party? in support of the writers strike. There have been rumblings that a settlement could soon happen with the Writers' Guild of America and the productions companies. Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter says, ?Whether the strike is over or not, there are a lot of bruised feelings. I don?t think it?s appropriate for a big magazine from the East to come in and pretend nothing happened.?So far, the Academy has said that the awards show will go on; however, the writers say they will picket. Many actors are expected to skip the ceremony and not cross the picket line if a deal isn?t reach before show time on Feb 24.You know a lot of celebs were banking on going to this party since they won?t cross. I mean the amount of ?dress-up? has severely suffered due to this strike! As for Vanity Fair, as much I as support the writers (1-you should be paid fairly for your work and 2-it has given me time to clear some stuff off... More About: Party
it. is. on.
2008-02-06 00:30:00 I was going to wait until the actual schedule was posted, but I am checking my email & Kanye University like crazy everyday in anticipation. I have listened to Kanye's Graduation album every morning for the past two weeks during my morning commute and it has not yet gotten on my nerves. There are a couple of songs that I am using as my personal theme music to get me through the day. I am not a huge fan of Rihanna musically, but I like her style. I have a N.E.R.D song as one of my ring tones and Lupe Fiasco in the car. I see a party bus in my future....
classic style: gaslight
2008-02-05 02:41:00 As you know I love old movies. I love the history and more importantly the costumes. The only thing that usually bothers me are the dynamics between men and woman....erg, I get so frustrated when the men boss the women around. Their word is final and that is it. Never would happen on my watch. With that said, I watched Gaslight (1944) tonight starring Ingrid Bergman, Charles Boyer, Joseph Cotten and a very young (19) Angela Lansbury (yes, Murder, She Wrote) as a kind of slutty maid. The movie about how newlywed Bergman thinks she is going crazy after moving back into her murdered aunt's house. Her husband, Boyer, is actually behind her "insanity" because, well, he is an ass. The entire time I wanted her to slap him! Just one good time. If not that, I just wanted her to stand up for herself. "Gaslighting" is actually a form of psychological abuse and basically means that a person drives you crazy by denying what is obviously logical or always putting the blame on you. How familiar do... lv coming to tv
2008-02-04 02:39:00 Last week, Louis Vuitton announced that it would launch their first ever TV campaign. It seems kind of non-luxury to call it a commercial, but the first will be a travel-themed 90-second spot that was shot in France, Spain, India and Japan. It will debut Feb. 15 and will run on cable and satellite television channels & in cinemas around the world.A still from Vuitton's 90-second ad. It features ordinary people rather than celebrities. ( Louis Vuitton) This is a huge step for LV and the luxury market, because they tend to advertise in magazines -- to their taget market. By advertising on TV, they are taking luxury mass market. You would probably be hard pressed to find someone who hasn't heard of Louis Vuitton, but I bet if you were to dig deeper, fewer would really know the exact pattern, the history, and just the overall feel.Vuitton said the ads will be shown in "rigorously selected cinemas" and on cable and satellite channels that attract "well-traveled audiences", includin...
pimp it girl!
2008-02-04 02:34:00 I'm not a doctor, but I play one on TV...Katherine Heigl has a line of fashion hospital scrubs for women, called The Katherine Heigl Collection. Just in case you are not familiar, Katherine Heigl plays Dr. Isobel "Izzie" Stevens on Grey's Anatomy. The scrubs are divided into four different collections, named by city and I'm guessing their vibe. "When Peaches Uniforms approached Katherine about a possible venture into designing medical uniforms, she was honored and excited because this meant she would explore another creative field outside of acting. Designing the KHCollection of scrubs paired Katherine with top designers and industry professionals and together they brought a new level of style and sophistication to medical professionals who, in addition to valuing their life?s work, can now enjoy comfort and fashion as well."photo:peaches uniforms More About: Pimp , Girl , It girl

2008-02-02 21:33:00 This reminds me of when I go shopping and get a whole bunch of new stuff. And you know with new clothes, you just have to wear them as soon as possible, so you start plotting. Now usually, you try to space them out...I'll wear my new suit on Thursday, then my shoes on Friday, maybe Saturday too. I can debut my bag on...you know the drill. Here is rapper Lil Kim at the screening of the ?Louis Vuitton & Marc Jacobs? documentary. She is barely recognizable, but her whole outfit makes me think that she got a whole bunch of new shit sent over to her and instead of trying to wear them on separate occasions; she decided that everyone needed to see it...at the same time. I can also hear my mother's voice in the of my mind ... "don't try to stuff yourself in that!" Would you rather hold on to the number or look good? Look at how she is posing. She can't move that much or she may pop a seam. And the skirt creases...sign of a size too small. Now, I am not saying that she is fat *pfsst*... More About: Jones

2008-01-30 03:08:00 "A lovely spot for your tissues to live while in your purse or pocket, our Tissue Pochette is made from gorgeously shiny and supple leather and is just the right size to accommodate an individual pack of Kleenex. Available in Gold bless you and Ah-choo Silver" $45My first thought - it is A LOT better than the plastic wrapped ones I have in my handbag now. It is called the Tissue Pochette and it is meant to be a holder for your travel size tissues. I like the silver one better because it matches my makeup bag and I'm sure it would enjoy the company. doc: the secret world of haute couture
2008-01-27 06:07:00 I am so excited about this that I am almost jumping up & down. Almost. Last year, my DVR deleted "The Secret World of Haute Couture " before I could watch it nor was it playing in the near future. I was full of sadness, inconsolable...until now. Follow these links [part 1, part2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6] or sit back and watch the first part below. ri ri's new look
2008-01-27 02:20:00 I know...two Rihanna posts in the same day. But girlie has a new hair cut. She debuted her new look tonight @ the NRJ Music Awards in Cannes, France.I've been thinking about changing my hair style so I have been scouring different looks. I am not ready to go short again though. But I like it on her. I also like it becasue it is refreshing to a female musician with her own hair...sans lace front & weave. While we're here, let's take a look at her dress shall we? The dress looks really comfortable and has a sparkle when it is in the right light. I liked it until I got to the back. Ditch the bow. It looks like it came off of a Christmas present and it needs to be steamed. OKAY, I have a theory -- someone lost the real sash to the dress and they had to use the bow that came off the complimentary fruit basket in the hotel room?photos: hollywoodrag
strange attractions: lucy lui
2008-01-26 20:27:00 Lucy Lui @ the S/S Valentio showI think that Lucy Lui is taking her new role as "Mia" on Cashmere Mafia into reality. I've noticed that her character is the most fashion forward and it always takes me a second to take in her wardrobe. The character mixes patterns & colors, loves the poofy sleeves, and doesn't always wear the most "practical" outfits for work. But again, it is television and it is nice to see a person dressed like that who is not a caricature of the fashion industry (she plays a publisher). The blue dress by itself is gorgeous and then there is the pink puff coat. As you know, I like the cocoon look. I have weird tastes and knowing that even though I might not be able to pull off something, I still admire when others go there. Plus this coat/shawl looks as if you can command the room -- push people out the way AND keep them away! More About: Attractions , Strange , Lucy
barney's girl
2008-01-26 19:33:00 I was trolling through the gossip sites looking for inspiration... at least that is what I tell myself. This time I actually found something. For example, the next time I go shoe shopping I am def going to strike this pose a la Rihanna @ Barney's. It would make up for having to hobble to the mirror with one flat and one heel. Then I saw her with these boots. In the first picture I thought she wearing some kind leather socks? Pushing the trend of the knee socks peeking from the high boots to the next level. You never know! Then I saw the next pic. I was wrong. They are actually one boot. They are Manolo Blahnik Topper boots, also available at Barney's. I am guessing that Rihanna is a certified Barney's Girl . I can't personally do the over the knee + high heel, but it does make me want to find a flat over knee pair.photos: splash
