My ONLY tutorial of the day. Pissed me off so much. I had to get up at 7:30am because I knew I had to go have lunch with Mother and her friends after my class so I couldn't look like I spent most of the night imagining I was a Shinigami. It took me half an hour to pick out what to wear, then half an hour for makeup and hair, then another half hour to eat breakfast and dawdle around before I had to leave for the train station at 9am. Getting ready uses so much precious time. I calculated that if I take on average one hour to get ready everyday starting from the age of 13, then that would mean in my entire lifetime (pre... I can feel the air getting cooler and cooler as each day passes. I have bad circulation so my hands and feet freeze as soon as the temperature drops down below 20. I think I need a certain cute waiter to hold my hand so it will stay warm ^.~I remember buying this Jill Stuart dress in Gotemba when I was still in Japan. I saw one of the shop assistants wearing it with a black turtleneck underneath, black opaque stockings and boots. She was very petite so the shapeless dress just hung off her body and it looked amazing. In that instant, I grabbed the same dress from the racks and pulled it into a changing room with me. Al... 2007-03-28 13:40:00 SundayWeather: Overcast (16 degrees Celcius).Top: Gray tank top from Uniqlo and gray school girl jumper both bought in Japan.Bottom: Gray striped shorts bought in Sydney.Shoes: Tony Bianco brown suede round toe pumps given to me by Joycie.Accessories: My dad's brown suede belt.It was freezing on Sunday, although 16 degrees isn't really that cold but the sudden drop in temperature made it feel like winter had come early. I can definitely see the change in weather these couple of days. It's no longer the Sunny Sydney Summer that I love. So out went my singlet tops and in came my jumpers. I'm hope to enjoy some layering this winter.I heard an interesting story from a friend today. She told me about a this middle woman who doesn't have car insurance because she thinks, "only poor people get insurance." I almost spat out my chewing gum. I love it how the stupidity of people never fails to surprise me. Let's see how she deals with things when she makes a dent in a 2007 Maybach 62. N... More About: Part , Plan

2007-03-25 09:51:00 SaturdayWeather: Sunny (30 degrees Celcius).Dress: Black Ladakh dress bought in Sydney.Shoes: Tony Bianco brown suede round toe pumps given to me by Joycie^^.Accessories: Silver bracelet bought from Star Jewellery in Tokyo.I bought this dress during a shopping break when I was studying at Chatswood library for my trials in 2005, but this is the first time I've worn it out. It was still a little cold at that time, and since it was a size 8 I bought it without really considering if I when I would wear it. Oh I have to note (as I confused some readers in my last post^^) that an Australian size 8 is around a US size 2-4, an Australian size 10 is a US size 4-6 (depending on the retailer), and an Australian size 6 is the very controversial US size 0. So anyway as soon as the weather got a little warmer and the HSC ceased to exist from my life, six of my friends and I jetted off to China for a one month High School Graduation holiday... in the freezing cold (don't ever visit the Forbidd... I know all girls say that, but I really really have nothing appropriate left to wear. I haven't been doing much shopping lately because I'm an unemployed poor student. I refuse to take money from my parents now because I'm 19 years old and I think it's time to take some financial responsibility. My parents have offered me money saying that I don't work so it's only natural that they give me pocket money, but because of my obstinateness I have refused their kindness and therefore living on the last $500 I have left in my bank account. Have I ever mentioned that I rather dislike Chinese food. It's quite odd considering most people love Chinese food, and being a Chinese girl I should have an even more overwhelming adoration for it, but... no, I really don't like it that much. We did have Abalone and Lobster with wasabi that day though and I love both of them so it wasn't such a bad dinner. As for the outfit I found the satin singlet top on sale in one of the little clothes shops near Numazu Station when I was in Japan. I was only 70... More About: Rain , Sexy , Brain

2007-03-14 07:02:00 WednesdayWeather: Overcast (24 degrees Celcius).Top: T-shirt from Evisu.Bottom: Nicholas Andreas Taralis for Uniqlo Designers Invitation Project black bubble skirt.Shoes: Red flats bought in Sydney.Bag: Black leather school girl bag bought in Numazu, Japan.Accessories: Black belt bought in Japan and various wooden bead bracelets.I'm not sure if I've ever explained to everyone why I like to wear such an ugly Evisu T-shirt. Firstly, I like the brand Evisu very much. I like to stare at the asses (Question: What is the plural of ass? Is it asses, or ass'? I'll just use asses for now) of boys who wear Evisu jeans. The stylized gull logo is very cute, thus cutifiying the asses of the boys who wear them. I'm not a big fan of the overly crazy Evisu jeans though, any more than four pockets on your jeans is not attractive anymore. I even have a pair of Evisu jeans... men's jeans! They are soooooooooo baggy on me. I think it was because I tried them on while still wearing my thermal pan... More About: Ella , Stella

I only have one tutorial on Tuesday -_-;; I was wearing black ballet flats at Uni but once Mother picked me up to go shopping with her I changed into my pumps. I'm wearing lyrca leggings that I bought in Japan so the material is quite thick, but I want to buy some full length footless tights. The problem I have with them is that I see girls walking around in tiny tiny dresses (or tops) and they wear footless tights which are quite sheer. If you can see your skin through the footless tights then they're either too sheer... or you're too fat. Thus, Melanie, not being the skinniest person in the world thought perhaps it wasn't...

I bought a pair of overalls and two dresses the day before and decided to wear the overalls a go. Let's just say I've never owned a pair of overalls before and I didn't realize how much it doesn't complement my body shape. I either have to wear a baggier t-shirt (perhaps my white with red hearts t-shirt I've been wearing everywhere lately) or I have to get a breast reduction. I actually do look like a builder in this outfit. I'm probably never going to wear the overalls again unless I find a way for them to fit my body better.University started for me yesterday. Despite it being Autumn already it's still really really hot. I felt like wearing a summer dress because it's casual enough to go anywhere in but with pumps it won't be too casual to go to dinner in in case I don't get to come back home to change. If you had to make me choose between Melbourne or Sydney, ultimately I'll still choose Sydney simply because of the beautiful harbour views, the sometimes busy metropolitan life and my family and friends. Melbourne on the otherhand, does have better shops (you mostly get chain stores in Sydney, better art galleries and museums, better dressed people (unlike the denim mini, t-shirt and thongs clad S... 2007-02-27 23:56:00 ONE (一) - MelbourneI drove (well I didn't drive) down to Melbourne with Grace and Yan on Friday after product and systems training at work. I love road trips with girlfriends. We stopped over at a little town called Albury before driving the rest of the way to Melbourne the next day. We left by plane on Monday afternoon and all we did in between was eating and shopping. I will post the whole summary and photos up next entry.TWO (二)- GAHH!!!Finally when I got the chance to blog after coming back from Melbourne, my internet connection was being incompetent.THREE (三)- WorkAs you know I did product training on Friday. Detox is working. I know it's not meant to be a weightloss program but I've grasped this chance of not being able to eat the foods I love to not eat much of anything else either, thereby changing it into a weightloss program. I cheated a bit on Monday night though, when my family and family friends went out to dinner at Circular Quay, I had some rhubarb tarte tatin and mash which I felt extremely guilty about, so I jogged for 40 minutes and shot hoops in my front yard for another 30 minutes the next morning.Looking back at this outfit I wore to my dear little Mike's 19th (Happy Birthday Mike!) Löwenbräu Keller is apparently Australia's most authentic German restaurant. 2007-02-07 14:13:00 On the 14th of January 2007 two little girls called Nadia and Melanie were on board a Boeing 747 making their way across the Pacific Ocean to get far far away from 7pm curfews. It was a 9 hour flight and being the bored little girls they were, they wrote up a list:You Know You've Been In Japan Too Long When...1) You enjoy watching celebrities impersonate other celebrities - the joys of "mane".2) When you're not at work/school you're watching TV.3) The word "individuality" no longer belongs in your vernacular.4) You automatically squat when you go to the toilet.5) You can't pee without toilet slippers.6) You no longer play with all the different buttons on the toilet.7) "GAHHH!!! Why isn't my toilet seat warm?!"8) Suicide is wrong unless you do it the honorable "seppuku" way.9) You begin to stare at other gaijin (foreigners).10) You understand why the Japanese dish "Hamburg" is just a Hamburger patty.11) Why it's missing two letters, thus the absence of two bread buns.12) A man...

I mean we all love receiving fashion advice from a 10 year old.Claudia is a spoilt brat. The evidence I have for making that statement is the fact that we had to celebrate her birthday over the weekend. And I mean the entire weekend, her birthday is no longer just a "day", it's a weekend. This meant that we had to listen to her every wish. We had to take her to wherever she wanted to go, eat whatever she wanted to eat and do whatever she wanted to do. It wasn't too bad because my sister l... More About: About , Claude
Beach Baby!
2007-02-01 14:39:00 I promised crazy and semi-naked girls prancing around at the beach, and I am a woman of my words.Once upon a time on a sunny summer's day in Sydney, everyone was having a majestic day at Manly Beach .Especially an extremely innocent and shy girl named Princess Melanie.Princess Melanie enjoyed the day with two of her very innocent and shy friends, Princess Alice and Princess Claire. All of a sudden Evil Queen Joyce came along and tried to molest the poor innocent and shy Princesses. She bit!She groped! And she forced poor innocent and shy Princess Melanie to kiss her. After Evil Queen Joyce filled the entire beach with her evil desires and tainted the poor Princesses, she stripped and retired on her beach towel. The Princesses soon realized that life was too short to be innocent and shy. So after the beach, they decided to make their way into the dark side and join forces with Evil Queen Joyce. They terrorized citizens by screaming. They made much inappropriate use of cutlery. And they force... I couldn't fit into some of my dresses, and the dresses I could fit in exposed too much leg, which at the moment resembles a telegraph pole as my dear Mother puts it so tactfully. So I opted for a top and bottom instead... all black of course. I wanted to pick up a big sexy man of my own*cough* so I wanted to wear something a little sexier, so I went for a cleavage plunging singlet top and a 3/4 length pants just to even out the exposure. 2 Days, 3 Couples
2007-01-21 13:43:00 No new outfit for this post. I feel fat because none of my clothes fit me anymore =(In the past two days I've met up with three of my best girlfriends (and their boyfriends). Yesterday I had coffee with my childhood friend Sarah. Our families were friends back when I lived in Melbourne and we've known each other since we were like 4 years old. We used to travel back and forth between Melbourne and Sydney to visit each other but for the past five years we haven't been very good at keeping in contact. I guess when people get to a certain age, we stop reminiscing about our childhood days and we stop making the effort to talk to the friends we had from that time, especially when you're a State apart. That's why it felt so good to catch up with Sarah again. As soon as I saw her, I felt the 5 years that we had been apart just disappear and she had always and will always be my best friend.Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking sappy.Anyway.Sarah and I in Starbucks.Sarah and I at a BBQ in... The Return
2007-01-17 11:48:00 I'm sorry! I've been so busy catching up with friends and eating beef I feel like I'm about to collapse with fatigue and explode with rolls of flab. Not a good combination. So what has happened since Sunday? Well Sunday shall be in my next post, so let's start of with arriving at Sydney Airport on Monday morning instead. I was tired and Nadia was slow (Fort St. What can I say?), but when we finally got out of Quarantine (I put all my macha (green tea) products up for declaration, aren't I honest?) and I spotted my parents and sister waiting for me in the crowd, my first reaction was, "Wow Claudia, you're so tall!"My host brother who is 11 year old is just under 130cm tall and my 10 year old sister is 145cm. My parents looked extremely tall as well. As I looked around the airport I noticed that everyone was tall... and big... So big in fact, I breathed a sigh of relief as I realized I was now considered average and not fat like I was in Japan. Well that was until Mother made a c... More About: Return , The Return , Turn
Last Day in Japan
2007-01-13 05:44:00 I have to apologize for the lack of blogging recently, but it's been hectic these last couple of days. I went to school on Wednesday to return my school uniform and say goodbye to everyone. Something rather interesting happened afterwards but I will blog about that later. It still hasn't quite sunk in yet that I'll be leaving tomorrow. I've just gotten so used to living in Japan . Throughout these last 10 months I've learnt to accept the good points and the bad points this country has to offer, so although I can't wait to get back home, I also find it hard to leave. In a way Japan feels like my third home now (Beijing being my second of course^^) because I know I always have my friends and host family to come back to.I remember when I left home at the end of March last year, and not a single tear dropped from my eyes when I said goodbye to my family at the airport. I was so excited and anxious I thought I didn't have time to be sad. I was fine for the first few hours on the pl... More About: Last

My Host Parents are Crazy
2007-01-09 11:13:00 These past few days have been a little hectic because my host parents are crazy. They are absolutely C-R-A-Z-Y!!! They decided that we would go to Fuji-Q Highland (an Amusement Park in Fujiyoshida near the base of Mt. Fuji) at 8pm on Sunday night to ice skate and go on the rides since the park was open until 2am that day.Mind you this is in the middle of winter in the Yamanashi region where everything was covered in snow, so I ended up putting on ski pants over my jeans. My host sister and I looked like Eskimos... excuse me Inuit, but we didn't really care because it was so cold. When we got to the entrance gate the staff told us that none of the Roller Coasters were open due to the strong winds. But my host parents (did I mention that they are crazy?) decided that we would ice skate all night (ice skating rink was 24 hours) then go on the rides the next day when the park opens again.I skated for a few hours, taught my host sister how to skate and tried to do some bad figure skating... Growing Up
2007-01-03 05:31:00 2006 is a year that waxed and waned for me, emotionally and physically (lost 5kgs then gained another 8 -_-;;). But I will remember last year as a year in which I grew up in. Not just the blooming *cough* of internal maturity but also a difference in handling and dealing with change and difficulties. On the otherhand my life has remained at a complete standstill. Yes, I've experienced a lot of new things, learnt a new language and changed in many ways, yet I am still Melanie, Sydney Girls High School Class of 2005, no job, no driver's license, no boyfriend and about to enter 1st year University. It was exactly the same a year ago except the fact that I'm fat now.Was taking a year off to go to Japan worth it? Yes without a doubt. What frightens me is trying to fit back in, when I've changed and my friend's lives have moved on so much. Some of my friends who had started a relationship while I was still in Sydney are now at their 1 Year Anniversary.
