“I liked that better than that mean show with that lady with the silver streaks in her hair,” said my husband after watching the premiere episode of “How to Look Good Naked” on the Lifetime Network. “They let the hot girl stay hot.”Yes, they did let “the hot girl stay hot,” but this show hosted by Queer Eye’s Carson Kressley did more than that. They did what I think is missing in all these makeover shows – they didn’t change the exterior of the woman, but the interior. They let the hot girl stay hot, AND have her finally realize her hotness.Hallelujah! A show where women aren’t beaten up, changed and reassembled into a different person! Wednesday Rant - Kill the Kitch!

So I decided to treat myself to the portabella and goat cheese sandwich at Au Bon Pain and on my way back to the office, I saw the most horrific sight…A woman, around my age (early to mid 30s) wearing a pink corduroy hip-length coat with pink faux fur trim around the hood, brown trousers a tad too short so I could see her rainbow-striped socks, brown loafers, brown leather gloves and a knit hat that had a face and ears on it so it looked like a cat/mouse/non-human creature. The hat tied under her chin in a pink-ribboned bow. She was talking on her cell phone and carrying a Coach purse.Ladies, WHY do you do this to yourself? WHY?Yes, the hat was very cute, and pink is one of my favorite colors as well. Heck, as I type this I am wearing my favorite rainbow-striped socks (completely hidden under boots). This, or different variations of this question show up in my keywords on my blog’s stat counter every day. It seems that most women are searching for the Holy Grail of style instead of working on those spreadsheets or proposals at work!Looking polished… well some women are born with that skill. They are able to wear a simple tee shirt, jeans and flats and look like Audrey Hepburn. Their hair never frizzes, their lipstick never gets on their teeth, they have perfect yet natural posture, and possess effortless confidence and style.I am not one of those people. I always spill my Starbucks latte on my sleeve while walking into work. Friends are always picking a piece of lint out of my hair or a crumb off my sweater.
