Indy racing league (old name of indyCar, in abbreviated form IRL) - an American racing series, the analog of formula 1. IRL were formed as a result the division of the united championship of IndyCar to IRL and ChampCar (CART) in 1996. To the leader of IRL and simultaneously for the owner of the route of Tony's Indy George it was possible to win by judgment in CART of right to the name Indy, although CART remained the formal successor of united championship. The name of a series - Indy, originates from the name main route of the USA Indianapolis of Motor Speedway, where on last Sunday of May is passed one of the most prestigious annular races indy-500. This race is counted, together with Boundary - Monaco even 24 hours of Leman, one of three most prestigious races of peace.
