I can't have enough ruffle dresses. The ruffles on this Peplum Pleated Romper Dress from YesStyle.com ($52) are very interesting because the ruffles are also pleated which give the skirt a much bouncier look and a fuller body, especially when I'm walking, it's like adding a spring in my steps. Fun!

Another new dress purchase from Hong Kong -- 59 Seconds Metallic Plaid Dress with Bow. This dress looked so adorable I just had to have it. My guy couldn't understand my obsession with giant sleeves. But even he had to admit it looks cute. I tried belting it, but it ended up making the sleeves look extra gigantic (not in a good way). So no belting. It sorta presents the challenge of wearing this dress underneath a coat. There's so much fabric on the sleeves that bunch up inside the coat sleeves. Uncomfortable, lol. But I don't care, I love this dress, it was only $28!

This is my new coat that I got from Hong Kong. IZAR Double Breasted Flare Coat. I couldn't ask more from this only $38 coat (best deal ever). Love love love. Initially I wanted a white one, I really wanted a light color coat because I was tired of wearing dark ones. But the white was sold out. The grey one ended up being a good choice since I already have white coats, but no grey coats. I still have at least two months to get lots of wear out of this one.

Every year, my New Years resolution is to find a new makeup look. This year, I decided to take a cue from one of my fave leading ladies of the past-- Marilyn Monroe. She always wore liquid eyeliner and managed to avoid looking overdone. It sounds scary, but with the right technique, liquid liner can easily be a makeup staple for 2008. First, apply a light eye shadow on your lid as a base. Pick something with a little shimmer like Mark's Shimmer Cube eye shadow in Twinkle. Blend it from eyelid to brow bone. Take a pencil liner that matches your liquid liner exactly and line your upper eyelid. The line should be thinner towards the inner corner of the lid, and thicken as it goes out. This creates an uplifting, almost cat-like look. Since you are using a pencil, you can afford to make mistakes. Keep lining and blending until you like the shape. Do not apply any liner to the bottom lid. Next comes the trickiest part--the liquid liner. I like to use Mark's On The Edge Hook Up ...

I've been to Churchill's Pub twice and each time was a different experience. The first time my husband and I went alone. We were seated in a cosy room with a fireplace and dark wooden tables and booths. This room was called the study. We both commented on how we actually felt as if we were in a pub in England. We were told, then, that all the furniture was actually imported from England. The food was delicious and the drinks were cheap, as we were there during Happy Hour. I was just in Savannah last week with my family and for dinner, I suggested that we return to Churchill's. This time, we sat in the parlour, which was an open room with large tables near the window, looking out onto busy Bay Street. The food once again, was spot on. O'Donovan's: A Good Place to Get a Burger

I have found "my bar". And thankfully, it is just two blocks away from my house. I started going to neighborhood bar and grills during the summer. I've tried out a few in my North Center neighborhood in Chicago. Some were too filled with children (why there were more kids in a bar than adults; I'll never know) others were too pricey for what I got. Then, I went to O'Dono van's. I've lived in this neighborhood forever and I had never gone in. Finally, I did and I've been making up lost time ever since. The burgers are good. I couldn't really tell you what the other food on the menu tastes like, well, because, I only order the burgers. I tell myself each time that I'll order something different. There's chicken fingers, loads of salads, and big dinners. But I always go back to the burgers. They're big but not monstrous. The fries are plentiful and crispy. The drinks are cheap. I returned to Savannah for Christmas this year and I was shocked to see that Broughton Street had transformed itself into a trendy, shopping mecca. The shop that surprised me the most was the Marc by Marc Jacobs which was spacious and very minimal in design. The people behind the counters looked like models or at the very least, very cool art students. However, this was Savannah, deep in the South, and the employees couldn't have been friendlier or more willing to help. The clothes were from the more affordable line, but I still couldn't afford (or let myself spend) $250 on a sweater. The purses were gorgeous but still pricy. The best thing about the shop was that there were loads of cool, unique trinkets that were under $25. So it's no secret that since the beginning of time, us ladies have strived for thick, luscious lashes. As for me, I've probably tried just about every mascara out there. When a new one comes out, I'm practically waiting outside Sephora or CVS until it arrives. Regardless, I still do not know the secret to having full eyelashes. Something that has been intriguing me, is lash extensions. Eyelash extensions create more drama than mascara, but still look natural--something that is hard to get with a mascara. Unfortunately, the process is lengthy and expensive. The entire procedure usually takes about two hours. 40-ish individual silk lashes are dipped one by one into a bonding agent and then applied to your existing individual lashes. Price-wise, the lashes can set you back a bit--Anywhere $250 to $500 for the initial application. Each touch-up(which is required every 2-6 weeks depending on lash growth) is $50 to $100.
