410 BC
2008-05-08 19:03:00
You, my friends, may think that 410 BC is just the date when the Athenians restored Democracy but, trust me, this is not just it. 410 BC is also the name of a very interesting t-shirt store, which I discovered through Tshirt Island! The designs are fresh and confident and I sooo love the use of color. The team of 410 BC is primarily a group of young artists that simply like designing clothes for fun and, if I judge from their photo shoots, they truly must be having some great time. These limited edition shirts are usually priced around $28, which to my opinion is not all that expensive but, if it makes you feel better, you should know that 15% of the profit will go to a some charitable cause and that all shirts are made in the USA from 100% organic cotton. The good news is that they currently have a spring sale which will save you 20% off your order! Just use code "springsale" at check out.
Live Now Posters
2008-05-08 06:00:00
I don't normally post about posters but I think I owe to write about these specific posters. Eric Smith was recently diagnosed with cancer and decided to create a poster series with some quotes that have helped him through this whole process. The posters feature positive, strong messages about life and I think would make some awesome t-shirts as well. They cost $12.95 and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to the Live Strong Foundation.Special thanks to Jon Kruse from Mediocore Clothing for sending me the info.

Woven Flesh Shirts
2008-05-07 18:00:00
Woven Flesh is a beautiful store from Scandinavia, selling some amazing shirts. Their designs are inspired by Japanese kids books and eastern European fairytales. The goal is to produce 4-5 collections each year and each collection has a special theme. I personally loved their designs for their meticulous innocence. Having said all these, I know you'll hate me when you'll find out that these shirts are not the cheapest around. They cost € 46,75 (taxes included) which is about $72 (apparently this is considered a pretty normal price in the Scandinavian countries). I know, I hate myself too... but on the other hand you should know that they are extremely limited (usually only 2 of each color style) so at least you know you're not gonna run up to anyone else wearing the same shirt. One last thing before I close: excellent photos!

The idea is simple: Tim handpicks t-shirts from flea markets, thrift stores and, even from friend's closets and sells them through his blog, Teecycle.org, for 7 bucks (plus shipping). Then he donates $1 from each sale to the River Revitalization Foundation. Awesome idea, cool blog posts, funny photos. I'd say check it out!

Skeledog T-shirts
2008-04-30 03:28:00
I found Skeledog store last week and, let me tell you, these shirts are plain odd! And I mean that in the nicest way. Well I have no dog, I'm more of a cat person, but I would definitely wear one of these tetrapods on my chest. The idea alone of dog skeletons is funny but combine that with great color choices and on an amazing range of American Apparel color t-shirts and you have some pretty interesting shirts. Who said that dog fans have to wear all these cheesy shirts or just print a low quality photo of their pet? I find these shirts more appealing for any pet fan who cares about design.

Memoirist Land
2008-04-30 01:53:00
Oh God, I'm such a sucker for this type of designs! Memoirist Land is one of the latest shirts available from Uneetee.com and I loooove it. For some reason hair tells the best stories and... I can't believe I just said that.*Links in this post are affiliate
Color Overload and the Unplugged Brain
2008-04-25 22:00:00
Huh? Ok, Color Overload is so new that has just one design available but is a damn good one! Besides... Gino Orlandi, the owner, is a nice guy and this is his first attempt in the industry. The more he sells the more designs he will print. Sooo, Unplugged Brain is an awesome design, printed on a gorgeous American Apparel Kelly Green shirt which of course is one of my favorite colors. It kinda reminds me this one from Uneetee and the idea is similar, but I also like all these cables that wrap around him; they add a feeling of anxiety to the whole scene. It costs $19.95 plus s&h and I'm expecting in the mail soon...
IrateMonkey Shirts
2008-04-25 01:45:00
Before I write anything let me just say that this is the first store I've ever encountered that is hosted and operates exclusively through Facebook. Thus you need a Facebook account in order to visit it. Having said that, IrateMonkey is the project of a handful of students from Philadelphia. It's a store that hosts an open design submission contest and gives the winners 20% of the total profit (with a $500 minimum). The designs have a threadlessy look and I already have a few of them in my watchlist, mainly by young artist Olena Shmahalo. Besides the fact that I find the whole Facebook thing kind of stiff, I'm pretty positive about these guys and I'm waiting to see more good designs from them.

Me Against the World
2008-04-24 18:35:00
When a site is called Me Against the World you know it's gonna be a wild, bad ass, angry site. I'm not necessarily a fan of street wear and for sure I could do without the huge prints on both sides, but after all, I can see the value in these designs and I thought it worthed mentioning MATG. Of course if street wear is your thing, you'll have a blast in this store and despite the fact that they only have around ten designs, you'll find a nice variety in colors, special inks, and styles. The shirts are fairly priced (~$25) especially compared to some other street wear clothes we've seen around. Also, check out the online gallery where you can browse several interesting artist's work.

Turn The City
2008-04-24 05:26:00
I'm not sure if there is some symbolism in this design but who cares? I like it! It is nice, simple, and clean. Turn The City is the latest design from Turn Nocturnal, the guys who brought you Huge Type Looks Sweet, which I know you all love. Yours for $17.00...

New Artefacture Shirts
2008-04-22 20:18:00
Artefacture released Spring 08 line last week giving us yet another excellent line of designs. Artefacture's sophisticated and minimalistic approach has made it to my top list and I'm happy to see that they kept the same mentality and even took it a step further. I only wish they had some women's shirts too...Oh and btw while you're there, take a look at the shirts from the sprevious lines now sold for $21.

[2 one 5] Grab Bags
2008-04-22 06:40:00
Ok that's a quick note since I'm pretty tired and I need to go lay down. If you'd like to spend some extra money and get a good value for your bucks I'd suggest to check out 2one5's grab bags. A grab bag costs $95 and it contains 2 hoodies from the riches collection, 1 5-panel hat,and one limited edition t-shirt. Originally the value of all these goodies was $233 so you get really good value for your buck. BUT there's a catch (as always): you don't get to pick the gear (besides the size) and there are absolutely no returns or exchanges.

Paste T-shirts
2008-04-22 04:14:00
Paste is yet another fantastic t-shirt store that I came across lately. The guy to blame for these truly exquisite shirts is Jason Laurits who designs and prints everything out of Brooklyn, NY. Jason Laurits started his career as a musician but learned the silkscreen process in order to promote his shows around NY and London. Well, I haven't heard his music but I sure like his graphic art. Shirts cost $38 and are printed on enzyme-washed tees.

The-Affair
2008-04-21 03:54:00
I found some interesting sophisticated shirts at a new brand from London called The-Affair . Their designs are inspired by classic literary works and legendary movies and are always well thought and balanced. I like more or less all of their designs but my favorite is "Frenemies" inspired by the famous saying "Keep your friends close but your enemies closer". Unfortunately, for us US customers we have to pay in GBP (£25 to be exact) but c'est la vie my friends, c'est la vie... You might as well comfort yourself with the thought that there are only 200 of those printed. Finally, one extra star is for the very nice interactive flash web design (normally I hate flash but in this case I really enjoyed it).
Lines and Diagrams: New Owl Movement Awesomeness
2008-04-19 22:00:00
Oh how nice life is when Owl Movement launches a new line? Yes, series 7 is out and is colorful, and is called "Lines and Diagrams " and you just wanna love Owl Movement for all this creativity, and all this optimism, and maybe it's spring and I don't know what the hell I'm talking about... lol... One thing is for sure though, this "Birthday Surprise" shirt is on its way to becoming mine, mine...

The Ghost Ship
2008-04-19 01:02:00
"The Ghost Ship " is the latest Scribtee design and will soon become mine! lol... I have to admit when I first heard about a ShirtCity high end line I was quite skeptical. But come to think of all these designs that recently came out from Scribtee, I'm impressed. I see very talented artists, like Edno Pereira or in this case Sven Palmowski, winning the contest and finding one more medium to showcase their talent and sell their designs and that's just great. If you do decide to buy this shirt or any other shirt from Scribtee/ShirtCity, remember to use coupon "4LOESX25D7F7FVO" which will save you 5 bucks off your order ;-)*Some links in this post are affiliate

INDVSL Shirts
2008-04-18 23:59:00
I've known about INDVSL.com for some time but you know me... I can't review a shop when I'm stressed out and these days were just crazy. So! One thing I find interesting about this site is that the INDVSL team treats the shirts as a platform, a canvas for the artists and not just as products. Especially in the latest designs, it's like they took an artist they like, they gave him a blank shirt, and told him "and now, do your magic"! Of course this level of artistic freedom, customization, and the fact that they print in limited quantities, doesn't come free of charge my friends. So for example, their latest work, "Cubicle", which is actually a polo shirt will cost you $58. But don't freak out, that's an extreme case, most of the shirts cost between $26-38 (that's not expensive). One other thing before I close; this site has some super cool beats. Usually I hate music in webpages but in that case the music actually helps in creating atmosphere and is a pleasant surprise (plus...

Rangga's Interview with the Founder of 80sTees.com
2008-03-24 19:41:00
Before I say anything else, let me just say that I totally dig Rangga's (Tshirt Island) interviews. They're great pieces and take this whole t-shirt blogging thing a step further. Now, Rangga did an interview with Kevin Stecko, founder of 80sTees.com, on the occasion of the site's 8th birthday. I was thrilled with the part where Kevin talks about the first years of the site when he was using his mother's dinning room as his inventory storage and office... You can read the whole interview here. And before I close, let me just remind you guys that you can get a 8% (as I said it's their 8th birthday) discount on all orders at 80sTees.com until the 29th of March. ;-)

Monsters vs. Aliens
2008-03-24 19:00:00
I don't remember if I've mentioned it before but Nassos is a storyboard artist for DreamWorks Animation. The movie he's been working on for the last year is called Monsters vs. Aliens and I guess is inspired by the old monsters films where aliens invade earth etc. So, the great thing about working in these companies is that you get dvds, books, toys, and other merchandise as gifts for working in a production. When Nassos was working at the Bee Movie he brought home a jar of honey (yeah, very funny guys), when he was working on Kung Fu Panda he brought me a nice mug (right...a mug...), now that he's working on Monsters vs. Aliens what did he bring me? Did I say a t-shirt? Did I say a t-shirt? Finally, something I can actually use! Voilà the Monsters vs. Aliens t-shirt...
Medicated Clothing
2008-03-24 07:16:00
Medicated Clothing is another indie brand that I found while browsing around the net and thought it had some interesting shirts. The main artist behind this brand is Jamie who also runs the whole business, but like several other indie brands, there are a lot of collaborations with different artists with different artistic backgrounds. That's probably the reason for all this diversity of the designs. I don't like all the designs of Medicated Clothing but I'm pretty sure there's something here for almost every taste. My personal picks are Not As Cool As You (I love this one), Finally (odd!), and Circumstances.
Mechanical Breakdown
2008-03-23 03:32:00
I found Mechanical Breakdown while browsing around and I loved it. It comes in AA maroon and gold shirts by Rethink Clothing, a brand that prints designs made by college students from around the nation. Most of the shirts cost just $15 or less.
