Bagaholic Babe's Fashion Predict ion for Spring /Summer 2008: Exotics : it's safe to say that Exotic skins such as Croc and Python are very 'big' come Spring/Summer 2008, perhaps even bigger than they are now, usually during the F/W seasons. As we saw in our New York Fashion Week 'It Bag' List Exotics, too, primarily made up the 'It List' in NY. Clutches: Everyone seems to be doing Clutches, be it oversized, Exotic, Evening or your regular clutch. In fact, Fendi's entire collection shown at Fashion Week for S/S '08 solely of Clutches. MultiColours: Most of the 'It' Designers are doing the Multicoloured thing, be it in the form of Artsy Prints, or just a plethora of colours on the same bag. Yes, some don't look too bad, but others look distasteful and as I mentioned before in the Prada post, rather jesterly. As always, alongside the New York and Milan Fashion Week, I present you the 'It' bag list for Paris Fashion Week S/S '08 collection. This coming season, you'll notice colors - lots of colors. Colors are in.. and so is leather. Exotic Leather. Paris's S/S '08 collection spots items that goes spectacularly well with your LBD because of its strong (and most often than not, solid) colors.Take the 'Hand-painted Clutch' by VBH, for example. It's so colorful, it can be a standalone - minus the accessories and it's enough to take other's breath away.And what about the 'Graphic Clutch' from Christian Dior? On Marni this coming season is a shift in color - from the more natural forest-y, watery greens to a mix of bright colors such as purple and the more woody, earth-y tones like grays, browns and mustard and sometimes even a short blast of flourescent orange somewhere in the middle.Their bag collection in Spring 2008 will complement the garments. Most of 'em if not all are of solid natural tones.. still maintaining the current favorite patent leather. Overall, I must say.. A lot of leather - patent and buttery soft leather, framed bags, foldover snap closure bags. See for yourself what I'm talking about..And now, for the verdict: Overall, a beautiful collection if compared to so many others I've seen. I particularly love the foldover framed totes. Presenting: Paris Fashion Week : Valentino Sping/Summer Collection 2008With the exception of a few new additions to Valentino's Handbag Collection, most of the bags from the Spring/Summer 2008 Collection seem to be bags that are already a part of Valentino's 2007 collection - best sellers such as the Lacca Bow Shopper and Bow Clutches cum Wristlests . The only difference is that instead of Patent leather like we saw last season, it's now available in Metallic Gold and Pink (Lacca Bow Shopper) and in Metallic Silver Python for the Clutch/Wristlet. The collection is so vibrant, a true embodiment of Lacroix's signature carefree and fun style. Presenting: Paris Fashion Week : Chloe Spring/Summer Collection 2008Oohh, a very different sort of collection from the usual Chloe look - less bulky, less structured, and much smaller in comparison to Chloe bags (Paddington, Edith, Bay) of seasons past. Bagaholic Babe has always been a fan of Chloe bags (with the exception of the 'Silverado' and the 'Edith'), but this collection totally blew me away! Instead of that signature, rugged, urban look that Chloe bags usually exude, this collection is totally feminine and sweet!! For the Spring/Summer 2008 season, the House of Vuitton and Marc Jacobs collaborated with artist Richard Price, incorporating his spraypainted graffitti and texts into the handbag collection. As fashionistas might remember, this isn't the first time that Louis Vuitton is using graffiti motifs for their bags. In the late 1990s Takashi Murakami utilised graffiti-esque fonts to splash the Louis Vuitton name in bold on bags. Presenting: Paris Fashion Week : Chanel Spring/Summer Collection 2008From sequin-embellished bags to hard case Evening clutches in the shape of gemstones with crystal embellishments and details, the theme "Shiny, Shiny, Shiny!!" in Bagaholic Babe's opinion, is suitable for Chanel's S/S '08 Collection. Whilst other designers seem to be using a bright, bold and striking colour palette for their S/S '08 collections (Fendi, Marni, Christian Lacroix, etc), Chanel seems to have opted for a more monochromatic colour scheme. Perhaps it was due to Chanel's uncharacteristic use of bright colours for their Fall/Winter 2007 Collection which resulted in this seeming reversal of seasons? Presenting: Fashion Week: Bottega Veneta S/S '08

Presenting: Milan Fashion Week : Bottega Veneta Spring/Summer Collection 2008This Spring/Summer 2008, the House of Bottega Veneta, renown for its woven leather goods, despite updating its look, still staying true to its simplistic and minimalist tradition. The result: yet another timeless and classic collection for the S/S 2008 season. This S/S sees the house experimenting with more supple shapes like foldove and almost petal-like tops. Also, instead of using the Bottega Veneta's signature woven look for the whole bag, it utilises the signature weave in creating details that make swirly patterns (shown below). Apart from creating details, the brand also experiments with new shapes and styles of bags this season - the bucket-esque shopper, and Frame bags with expandable bottoms that when in its compressed state, looks rather like an accordion (see white Frame bag below). A definite conversation piece imho, as I've never seen a bag that is designed quite like that! Very novel indeed....

Presenting: Prada 's Spring/Summer Collection 2008 right off the runways of Milan Fashion Week Well well well.. I have to say that I'm not at all pleased with Prada's S/S '08 Collection. Yes, I know that it's for Spring/Summer next year, and those seasons are all about colours and brights, but MUST they be put TOGETHER? Ok, if Miuccia Prada insists on putting the brights together to form one bag, at least choose complementary colours and not contrasting mismatched colours. I notice that this is a trend amongst the designers who showed their Spring/Summer 2008 Collections at Milan Fashion Week this year - Pucci, Marni (which I will be featuring these few weeks) and the rest are all doing it in similar styles! The Verdict: Bagaholic Babe is appalled. I guess it only takes one bad apple to contaminate the rest! Dear BagAddicts, this week's Splurge of the Week is so Hot that it's temporarily oversold and is currently on Backorder! Presenting this week's Splurge, the Leather Rosette Hobo by Valentino. Made of ivory pleated leather Black leather trims and Rosette Detail on a Framed top, this Leather Rosette Bag is a stunner, though methinks for the slightly more mature and accomplished lady with class and finesse.
