London's turn to shine
2007-09-16 15:15:00 Finally!! London Fashion week is here, with more upcoming designers to look forward to as well as more innovative and new creative designs, the coming days are definitely filled with a sense of excitement to see what several designers have come up with and if they have reached or even excelled my expectations (for me its: Danielle Scutt, Peter Jensen, Christopher Kane, Duro Olowu, PPQ, Luella, Gareth Pugh, Gavin Douglas, Marios Schwab, Jonathan Saunders, Biba, Ashish, Rodnik, Giles, Osman Yousefzada and so many more.)As I cant be there to see the collections in flesh, I've been glued to British Vogue and fashion week website. I must say my favourite from yesterday shows is the that of Gavin Douglas, the 2006 fashion fringe winner. The blue dress with the feather skirt is set to be a trend for the SS08 as many feathers occurred in the New York fashion week, I reckon the black dress with the image of Marilyn Monroe adds a quirky and fun side to the very sophisticated collection. Spoon Jewelry
2007-09-12 15:02:00 I recently got an email from a website called Spoon FedArt which introduced me to an independent jewelry designer called Karin Collins and her Jewelry line called Spoon art. The jewelries are all handmade, that's not the only good thing about this line, in fact its the most fascinating thing I have ever heard because apparently the jewellery's are made from spoons...yes you heard me right, I promise its not my weird imagination taking over this post. The story behind her creation of Spoon Art is also very inspiring according to Karin Collins it began as a collage project which was a means of therapy for her past eating disorder. You can find out more about this Jewelry line and the designer, Karin Collin at Spoonfedart which currently offers free shipping for orders placed before the end of September 2007. I personally feel that the unusual creativity of this jewelry line, that is the use of spoons, adds to the beauty and artistic side of the jewelries.
Shoot?!!
2007-09-11 14:14:00 I'm back and full of magic, hope you all missed me... I'll take that as a Yes!! While away I came across a new term which I am still finding hard to get my head around, its called "Shoot ". What on earth is shoot?Well I came across the word in my recently received copy of Matches Autumn 07/08 Journal (you can order a copy, its free, not extremely exciting but quite a fun read). Apparently came from Christopher Bailey (Burberry designer) as he thought since they were "neither shoes, nor boot but fabulously in-between"Imagine going into a shoe shop, asking very politely "Hi there, I was wondering where your pair of "shoots" are placed and if you've got them in a size 5/6?" followed with a big smile. It just doesn't sound right, you'll probably end up getting evils as you walk out along with snide remarks like "bloody nutter." I really don't think the word "Shoot" will be catching up anytime soon, I'd rather just stick to ankle boots.
Today's outfit - The sheer goodness
2007-09-11 13:20:00 I have become obsessed with this sheer top my mum got for me, I just adore the whole sheer effect, I'm hoping to get some sheer dresses soon, surely I should be able to get lots when I check lots of vintage shops. More About: Goodness , Outfit , Shee , Sheer
It's the computer...
2007-09-03 10:25:00 Alright my lovelies,Just a quick note to apologise for my lack of posts, my computer is been a bit dodge and ill once it gets better I'll be back :) Just before I go, is anyone as excited as I am about Chloe Sevigny launching her on clothing range, I personally feel its about time as she's got great style, unlike some of the other crap so many celebrity clothing range have been producing, I reckon her collection is going to be so much better, fun and eclectic, I can wait till its all revealed. Look at my shoulders!!!
2007-08-24 13:58:00 Big, bold and dramatic shoulders have been seen on many runways shows for the fall/autumn season and its definitely taken my fancy. I've been trying to do some DIY versions for myself but then I got a bit stocked, however Queen Michelle from Kingdom of style also seems to like the big, bold shoulder on outfits, therefore I was very happy with her post which basically showed how one can get the big, bold shoulder on outfits using shoulder pads. I decided to go through my little sewing box (aka the Ferrero Rocher chocolate box) and came across some forgotten zips and shoulder pads. After a ramble around the wardrobe, I came across a pink top which I decided to add a black zip in front and the shoulder pads, the look was completed when I wore it over a black PVC dress with footless socks.I also came across a little black dress which I decided to perform the same magic on (that sounds a little tacky), a white zip was attached to the front and a white shoulder pad. I'm quite happy with ... More About: Shoulders
Some more "oh wow!" moments.
2007-08-23 02:18:00 At first look one can easily ignore these two looks as just another nice street style, however with a closer look at the details and how their outfits have both been put together you'll see both as very creative outfits, for example the first outfit necklace, the bracelet and shoes are very unique; the second outfit is simple but with a quirky side to it. The lady in the first outfit is called Bethan Laura Wood, she designed the necklace she had on herself, according to her site, the jewelery range is called "Link" and they are made from "sheets of 3mm birch ply" .I personally find her work to be really creative and one that's definitely worth a look at. You can also see some more fab pictures at the Elle UK street style section. More About: Moments , Some
Great News!!
2007-08-16 21:24:00 This a bit of a non-fashion post, however I just couldn't help sharing the news (hehe!!) got my exam results today, it was the first time I've ever had to open my results immediately, usually I wait for it to come through the post and not open it for like a week or get my mum to do it, however this was a very important one so I had no choice. The panicking was over when I found out I passed with 3B's and 1A (hehe!!) followed with a big sigh of relieve, afterwards I went on the rampage of "what did you get?" questions to my friends who also really did well. I'll let you all know what I'll be doing next once I decide. I'd also like to take this chance to say a big thank you for all the emails of support and luck I got while I was taking my exams, it really did work :)I haven't had the chance to celebrate yet, a shopping trip over the weekend and some new shoes will be a great way to celebrate. All about the creative details
2007-08-12 02:55:00 There are so many great Swedish designer labels and a great place to discover more is the Life is a Carbon site where a came across a label Helena Hörstedt, who I had never heard of until now. The label makes handmade garments that focus mainly on "structures, details and classic tailoring" all of which are very obvious in the designs. One of the aims of the designer is for the label to "build a desire", I must say the label has definitely achieved this aim as I constantly keep going back for a quick look at that pictures and adding many of the garments to my wish list (which is quite long). Words cant seem to emphasise how beautiful and extremely creative the details in all of the garments in this label are.H.Fredriksson is another label I admire for its classic tailoring accompanied with edgy styles, the fall collection has also not failed to impress me.Another collection with similar with its use of particular attention on details is that of Gail Sorronda who I'm looking forwar... More shopping
2007-08-12 01:04:00 I have recently got some great charity and vintage shopping finds, the last minute or clearance sales haven't all been a total shambles (aka crap) either... The prints on this dress from a charity shop gave me an instant "you're so coming with me" moment, the pink tights were also a lucky bargain for £1 at Oxfam. A knitted gold dress from Oasis sale was made complete when some bits and pieces were added... The grey shirt with the pleat detail in front and a very silky texture was another fab buy accompanied with a black playsuit from Topshop. The skirt is one the "I haven't worn you in ages" OK I'd actually never really got around to wearing it but then I decided to where it as a dress the other day. Finally some great bags also made me happy along with another £1 tight, and a brown vest. Ads, Ads everywhere
2007-08-03 23:17:00 With the fall and Winter season coming, fashion campaigns and adverts seem to be everywhere, its as if they're being shoved in our faces, there's no escaping them, the bus stops, buses, even beside public toilets, half of the pages in the chunky magazines e.g Vogue and Elle are filled with advertising campaigns. There are so many to the extent that its even becoming hard to sometimes distinguish between each of them, however with so many campaigns a variety of great campaigns are often or can be easily ignored and categorised as being another on of those fashion campaigns. From the so many campaigns I have been exposed to over the week, I feel the ones that really stand out from the crowd, and the ones you will most likely flip back to look at for the second time while reading through a magazine and probably end up cutting out then hanging on the wall of your bedroom are:Christian Lacroix United colours of Benetton H&M Giorgio Armani Moschino Michael Stipe for Marc Jacobs Lanvina... Going all weird for science
2007-07-29 16:49:00 Anna Plunkett and Luke Sales of Romance Was Born, a fashion label in Sydney, are known for their quirky, extravagant and over the top designs which in the past have never really been my cup tea. However a recent collection called Weird Science , has got me going "oh wow... I want that, Theresa so wants that." Its not just the name of the collection as anything with the word weird in fashion tends to get my attention, but certain pieces in the collection looks superb and fun, for example the washed denim pieces like the dress shown below, the leggings especially the gold and black one, the white dress, the silk white jacket and many more, the collection is truly unique and one I'll be going on about for a while so apologies in advance if I keep mentioning the "weird Science" collection.Pictures from Romance was born More About: Going , Goin

The forgotten ones...
2007-07-27 21:39:00 In a previous post where I discovered some forgotten items in my wardrobe, I soon realised that I did not tell you about another which happened to be the one I did not have a clue what to do with and still didn't really want to give away, I'm not very sure why... probably because of the stripes (I've got a tiny "likey likey" obsession with stripes) after a few days of seeing it lying on the corner of my room I decided to do something with it. The plan was to change the neckline and sew an old skirt (I also deserted sometime ago)to the bottom of the top. With the addition of an head tie I made, shoes from Evans, and jeans (stripped...again) the look was complete, looks like the forgotten items came in handy. Come fall
2007-07-20 12:08:00 The fall fashion is one I am really looking forward to, I actually cant wait and to be quite honest I'm no longer bothered about the fact that there's a small chance of getting any summer here. However staying away from the summer sales will be difficult, I guess I'll just have to choose wisely. There are so many great collections for the coming fall season with lots and lots of inspirations, one in particular that I have not really paid much attention to or discussed is Dice Kayek's fall collection by designer Ece Ege. I feel this collection has great futuristic looks, with the enormous use of leather and details such as the ruffles, this collection has become one of my many favourites for the fall season.Pictures from Dice Kayek More About: Fall
Try Lagerfield's spring look
2007-07-18 23:48:00 Karl Lager field's Spring '07 collection is one I have been hoping to try for ages and finally I got to it. I went for a white dress which I mainly got for a variety of reasons, firstly it was on sale, secondly I love the little details such as the blue thread and sewing lines which are not very visible in the pictures, however somehow (don't ask how) I decided to try it backwards and thought I preferred it that way (call me bonkers or confused).Along with a white shoe I had got sometime back from a charity shop with a footless floral white tights, however I choose another white floral tight with really lovely patterns which I think went well with the whole look, voilà!! success at last. Joining my Wardrobe are...
2007-07-18 20:53:00 These are some of my recent finds, the top was on sale from H&M, the skirt is from a charity shop, while the belt is one of my so called "own creations" I made it out of a piece of gold fabric my Mum got sometime ago, I decided to have a bow in front and a buckle at the back. The little purse is from a charity shop, out of boredom I decided to add some bits and bobs to it with the help of my pack of buttons and some old beads, I also added a long string to make it a mini over the shoulder kind of bag. I think it turned out alright. More About: Robe
Oh wow!!
2007-07-11 01:53:00 I came across this gorgeous picture on fashion 156's blog, and its not just another nice street style, this one is a super street style, the way she's combined everything just looks great, the bag and the white top are my favourite. The sunglasses looks great on her, I was going to get one of them in Topshop and thought "nah", now I wish I had got them because they just look "absolutely flawless" on her.I also really liked the plastic lip sunglasses .Pictures from Fashion156 Blog and Topshop
Some old favourites, call it a come back
2007-07-09 04:54:00 I have been promising to finish cleaning my room and sorting my wardrobe out for a while now, finally I got to it and discovered some items and outfits that seem to have crawled their way to the back of my wardrobe or maybe I have just ignored them. For example, this black dress which I haven't worn for ages and also the white striped shirt my mum got for me from a charity shop, a skirt from H&M along with the skinny belts (I'm a little bit obsessed with wearing two belts this days) and the red beret. The green tattered tights were actually bought as opaque tights from Topshop, however the washing machine decided to feed on it therefore resulting in lots of holes, I still kept wearing it for a while and stopped after so many looks of people most likely thinking I just managed to escape from the lions den however I do think it looks quite good with the green wedge shoes I forgot I had, therefore they are both making a comeback and ignoring the weird looks at the bus stop.I got the s... Ethical Fashion with a message
2007-07-09 00:50:00 With all the talk about saving the earth e.g Live earth which I think is a bit hypocritical, I get the point that they are trying to raise awareness about global warming, however most of the stars are coming in private jets so isn't that adding to global warming, watching the show, I did not feel the point was made I was more drawn to the performances. However a much more sensible way of raising awareness about saving the earth seems to be Ethical Fash ion which keeps growing at a fast pace with many labels like Ciel, Camilla Norrback and many more. Gary Harvey's "Fashion with a conscience" collection is one that caught my attention, it was all revealed at the Estethica exhibition at the London Fashion Week back in February, with inspiration from Vintage couture, the collection is extremely creative and all the garments are made from recycled items, according to Gary Harvey's "by sourcing fabrics and raw materials that have literally been thrown away, you can look good and be good... Whatever happened to them?!!
2007-07-08 03:07:00 For those of you who do not know what the show Make me a Supermodel is all about, well it is a reality show aired on Channel 5, quite similar to America's Next Top Model but not as dramatic and good to be quite honest, 12 people, both men and women who have been picked from auditions round the country (England) will live in a house together and compete in daily tasks to win a contract with Select model agency. I suddenly remembered this show, (I'm not sure why) and decided to do a tiny bit of research. Although Albert won the contract, not so surprising, about five of the other participants have also been signed to the agency which makes me think isn't it just meant to be just the winner... a bit confused, the public were told that the winner they vote for will win the contract. The Winner as well as other signed contestants seem to be doing alright, in my view Marianne ( a contestant) seems to be the most successful out of all of them with features on Fashion156 and other campai... Tagged
2007-07-02 21:29:00 I have been tagged by The_Kitten from Picky pick pics. The rules are that players starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to then report this on their own blog with their 7 things as well as these rules. They then need to tag 7 others and list their names on their blog. They are also asked to leave a comment for each of the tagged, letting them know they have been tagged and to read the blog.Just like The_Kitten from Picky pick pics said, it will be a great chance to get to know more bits and pieces about other bloggers, here it goes:1) I am a bit of a TV addict, right now I am quite hooked on House, Brothers and Sisters, Everbody Hates Chris as well as The Chase.2) I love cakes, especially Banana Cakes3) I believe shopping is a (not so obvious) form of exercise mainly because of all the walking around and trying things on.4) I can be quite shy, however I think I make friends easily and get on with most people, I am quite crap at keeping in co... Prom!
2007-06-30 01:39:00 The prom went very well despite the rain and my frequent thoughts of "we're all going to die" mainly because I cannot swim as it all took place on a boat. My dress turned out alright too, I wasn't going to iron it because I was worried it might get ruined so my mum ironed it, that way if the dress got ruined I could just blame her, but it was fine and complete with some pearls, cream bow shoes as well as my mini party bag. I ended up not needing my sunnies, well rather than the June sunshine, there was rain which we were all expecting but just managed to ignore. My outfit... There were also many nice outfits with lots of black, white and red...as well as lots of lovely floral prints and green...Overall we all had a great time, and looked fab, getting ready was worth all the effort in the end. Lots of diamond and Circular shapes
2007-06-28 13:10:00 The autumn 2007/2008 Matthew Ames collection is unique and very detailed, the use of shapes such as the diamond and circular shapes run through the collection which I feel is highly inventive. Ames has previously been selected as a finalist for the 2004 Festival International des Artes de la Mode a Hyeres, his work is definitely one to look out and forward to. A drift from Prom Preparations to Men's Fashion
2007-06-28 04:00:00 I recently got my prom outfit over the weekend which I intend to reveal to you all later (enigma!!) its not a typical prom kind of dress, its very simple and nice (i think).Anyway after my last exam, I decided to follow my friend Louis to get his outfit, he wanted something simple and quite casual, therefore I had something like this in mind. We did get the shirt and Tie, however he was not very keen on the others especially the waistcoat, the one I was most gutted about, I even tried my "you have to wear it" evil voice, its still didn't work. I am quite looking forward to what he will finally decide to wear, I am sure he will end up making a fab choice, I'll let you know once I find out.The shopping trip with my friend Louis has got me into a bit of Men's clothes and fashion over the past days, I started with the recent Milan Men's Spring 2008 shows, I went through most of it and found my favourites of the show so far to be... I just adore the red Jacket from Burberry Prorsum, ... More About: Fashion , Prom , Preparation , Drift , Fash
Fafi
2007-06-28 01:55:00 Fafi is a Parisian artist I recently came across, her drawings include various groups of "funny and sexy girls" her drawings are very eye catching and impressive, she has just recently created an animated Lily Allen in Mark Ronson's recent cover of the Kaiser Chiefs - Oh my God! Some of you might have seen her drawings on some new collections of Adidas trainers a while ago, I'm not a big fan of Adidas sport shoes generally, as I often just stick to my Converse and Kickers, however Fafi's drawings on this particular ones have managed to somehow change my mind, particularly the yellow ones.Fafi has also launched a collection of bags for Lesportsac. The bags come in different styles along with very vibrant, fun and playful colours. The video below shows Fafi herself doing some paintings at the launch party of the bags.
Glastonbury Style
2007-06-24 02:23:00 I was hoping to go to The Glastonbury festival this year, however with exams it turned out to be a big no go. I've been watching the highlights while revising as well (multi tasking - hehe), for the first time today, I realised how useful, the purpose of pressing the red button can be as I got to watch quite a lot of the acts playing live, some of my favourites were Bats for Lashes singing Prescilla live, The Killers, Bjork, others include CSS, Bloc Party, Revrend and the Makers, The Arctic Monkeys and so many more. Not only did I like many of the acts playing live, but there were also some superb outfits, some pictures are shown below. Pictures BBC More About: Style , Aston

More articles from this author:2007-06-22 03:38:00 I have wanted the scarf like-neck wear in the pictures above for quite a while now, I was even considering making one for myself, however I did not have to. I was going through some of my Mum's old things and I found it, I said something like "I've wanted one of this for ages" in excitement, its really kind of weird or in some way funny, how some other peoples "Unwanted" turns out to be others "Most wanted".
