Rodnik is "Quirky but not absurd"
2007-06-16 14:15:00
For those of you who are unaware of this label, Rodnick is by two British designers Rich and Phil, they refer to Viktor and Rolf as "inspirational in the way they make fashion fun." They both also describe their work as "Quirky but not absurd". This designers did not come from a not study fashion, apparently they were reading philosophy and art history in University. Their fashion careers came about when they went on a trip to Russia and discovered some folk scarves they brought back home and sold in a box with the name "Rodnik" put on the front. According to them "Rodnik was a shop we found while researching for an essay. It was a sort of fairy tale shop that had been opened by a princess in Moscow 100 years ago."The story of this British duo is one that always sounds to me as very fascinating, a tiny bit like a fairytale I must say. They always across as very quirky and fun lads which is obvious in their work. I genuinely like this duo and their work which always includes very rom...

A recent project by Susie Bubble from Style Bubble called 'lovies' invites anyone to get their "lovies" together. According to Susie Bubble, "Lovies means things in your wardrobe that you actually don't really need on a practical level but you absolutely LOVE". This is the second year running, and I was totally up for it. Swap till you drop
2007-05-31 15:46:00
Visa Swap , launches today on London's Brompton Road, basically you can drop off your old or unwanted clothes and accessories in exchange for points which can be redeemed for other clothes and accessories when the swap event will take place on the weekend of the 16 and 17 June (confused?!! think similar to the Nectar card points...) The items left over will be donated to TRAID (Textile recycling for Aid and International development). There will be stylists at the event ready to give a hand and advise. Other items from celebrities have also been dropped off such as Kylie, Helena Bonham-Carter, Naomi Campbell, June Sarpong, and designers such as Giles Deacon. If you are interested the event takes place at 5-7 Brompton Road, London, SW3 which is apparently between Harvey Nichols and Harrods in Knights bridge, you can also check the site for more information.

I would like a pair of Hetty Rose Shoes...
2007-05-31 15:00:00
I came across this shoes while going through Fashion 156 recent issue. They are from Hetty Rose , which makes hand-made shoes, I adore the feminine looks that runs through all the shoes. The shoes are apparently made out of vintage Japanese kimono fabrics. The designer is called Henrietta Rose Samuels (hence the name of the label) she graduated from the London College of Fashion with a degree in Footwear Design. I must say I adore these shoes, they all seem to have an individual look and different artistic edge. Pictures from Hetty Rose

Paule Ka Spring collection
2007-05-25 22:35:00
Paule Ka is a fashion label popular for its consistent eye-catching advertising campaigns and I most say the spring campaign has lived up to my expectation. The collection includes a number of elegant looks, however I have never been really keen on the Labels clothing, rather I am more drawn to the shoes. Wedge shoes always seem to reoccur in the labels collection as seen in the picture below, the shoes are from previous collections.I love wedge shoes, I find them very comfortable to walk in... moving on, the main thing I love about Paule Ka shoes, particularly the wedge shoes, is that they always manage to have very creative details and twists that make wedge shoes not just any ordinary wedge shoes. I feel the shoes in the spring collection (above) is superb. Paule Ka is distributed in many Parisian shops, the label is also sold in Harrods and has a boutique in Mayfair London .Pictures from Paule Ka

He's done it again
2007-05-23 01:53:00
The Cruise collection fashion show took place at an aircraft hanger in the Santa Monica Airport in LA, apparently the models all came out of a plane with a Chanel logo it side, I must say its a very different take on presenting a fashion show, a bit like Emma Cook presenting her collection on video which I think was very fun. I feel the collection has a lot of hippie style influences which I like, and I also really like the stripes, some of my favourites are in the picture below. However I feel a few items in the collection were not to my taste, especially the orange dress shown in the picture below. However, over all I feel Karl Largerfeld has presented a very eye catching and impressive collection.Pictures from Frillr.

Hopefully it stops here...
2007-05-12 16:28:00
Remember this jaw dropping what on earth were you thinking look?!! I'll take that as a yes. I always seem to wonder why she decided to go for this look... I'll tell you. I bet in a very posh accent she was like "I can't be bothered wearing trousers today, I know I'll wear my tights over my (Bridget Jones style) knickers". And I am sure her friends were like "only you can get away with that Sienna, you look so good" err no... she doesn't. She probably also thought "I'm so going to start a trend" well may be her trend has started to catch up as seen in Calvin Harris new single - The girls. Hopeful ly the trend stops there, I quite like Calvin Harris and apparently he gets all the girls (right!!). Picture from People Magazine

I Like the Korean Vogue
2007-05-10 21:51:00
I was just doing my usual browsing when I checked the Kore an Vogue website, which I haven't been on in ages. This month features Coco Rocha on the pictures for an article titled Spring Flirtation which I feel looked really lovely. There was also a featured story on some lady, I am not really sure of who she is, probably a celebrity, however I adored the dresses she wore in the pictures particularly the first one with the ruffled or flared end. The site is very entertaining, I dint understand the language (although I wish I do), however it did not bother me as I somehow still managed to enjoy going through the site.Pictures from Korean Vogue

Bring the sun back
2007-05-10 19:27:00
After a view of a recent post in Zoozoom titled: the Bloomsbury set and in an attempt to suppress waking up to a depressing day which came about by the sudden change from the lovely spring weather to the annoying non stop cold and rain, I went for a floral look. I particularly loved the socks with sandals look in the picture. This is one of my favourite leggings in my some what, large collection of leg wear. The glittering (not so obvious in the picture) green ankle socks are from Topshop and the shoes are from Oasis, not really one of my favourite shops, but sometimes has things that sort of catch my attention.Pictures from Zoozoom

Out and About for bargains
2007-05-05 02:50:00
As you all know, I love bargains and I reckon the best places to get really good clothes for super low prices are Charity shops and car boot sales. There is always so much to choose from and because they can be quite cheap, it is really easy to get carried away. I usually go charity shopping with no specific ideas on what I'm looking for or how long I might spend in the shop.My recent charity shopping trip has been a great success, I got a flared red trouser, similar to one a lady in the Style Scout picture was wearing, the pockets on the flared trouser are the best part of it. I also got a pair of really cute pumps, pink is not usually a colour I go for, however I really liked this pumps and the red stripes on them really persuaded me to get them. There was also a three quarter length trouser which is something I do not really like wearing however I did get them as they were £1.50, when I got home, I decided to do a tiny bit of DIY (my DIY skills are not great) by adding some but...

Morales
2007-05-04 01:37:00
I had never paid so much attention to the North Americans fashion until lately. With Bands like CSS (I'm a big fan!!) and many talented designers such as Mora l es . In terms of fashion, the North of Americans are starting to get more and more recognition. Renata Morales is a Mexican born designer who currently resides in Canada, her Label Morales has definitely caught my attention, her use of prints is very unique as seen in her spring collection, her cloth designs are more like a collection of superb art work, patchwork an eclectic mix which gives her lines very edgy looks. The fall collection is also very eye catching, I like the recurring theme of pleat designs on the collection, particularly on the little black dress.PS: I did check out the Kate moss for Topshop collection, and I did not like it very much, I feel it is extremely overrated, I did not get the white dress I thought I liked, however I did try the striped yellow (Banana Like) short on and it finally convinced me that ...

UNIQLO UT
2007-04-30 20:33:00
Firstly, I must apologise for the lack of posts for some days now, I have been really busy with coursework, hope you superb readers understand...however I finished most of it so don't worry, there will be more frequent posts from now. This week Uniqlo has launched it's e-shop; UT which stores lots of limited-editions of t-shirts for both Women and Men, there are a whole load of them and so much variety, the slogan for the store goes like this: "A t-shirt is more than just a t-shirt. It is an expression of who you are, where you have been and what you love," I don't really get the slogan, I just went along with it and paid more attention to the t-shirts. My favourite prints were that of Tezuka Osamu, some of you animation fans might remember him as the creator of Astro Boy. I used to watch it on early morning Saturday TV, I still do, but very often, (I know what you're thinking, No, I am not a freak!!) I have a perfectly good excuse, my little brother likes it a lot. Moving on, th...

2007-04-22 17:51:00
Milla Jovovich and Carmen Hawk are two people I will refer to as being Super Fashionable. Their label Jovovich-Hawk is very creative with lots of vintage inspirations as seen in the video, some of the spring pieces are available at Net-a-Porter .The Fall collection shows a massive improvement from the Spring collection, with more of the "vintage inspirations", pieces of lace like "Victorian dresses" which I adore, (I usually get lots of lace dresses from Vintage shops and Charity shops.) Some have apparently described the collection as "1930s Shanghai" in an interview with the girls in Hint Magazine. Some of my favourite from the Summer and fall 'o7 collection are belowPictures from Jovovich-Hawk

Mischen by Carla Knapp
2007-04-15 23:08:00
I came across this label - Misc hen via Nylon mag, I had never heard of it until now and I must say I am quite impressed with the label, especially the Spring collection. Mischen is by a Canadian designer - Carl a Knapp. The past fall collection is also impressive, the pictures were extremely attractive, "I want all of them" I said to myself. In the spring collection, my favourite has to be the yellow dress and the hats which are superb. There is enormous use of vintage inspirations, edgy details and silk in this collection and I quite like it. I'm definitely going to be raving about this label for a long time.Pictures from Mischen

Seeing Red
2007-04-15 04:02:00
I have never paid so much attention to the colour red, I have outfits in red, however I would not refer to it as my favourite colour, but I quite like it. However I'm starting to get freaked out about the colour, why?! I'll tell you why, every where I go, people are wearing the colour red, 90% of the people I saw today were wearing red, probably as a result of the long awaited arrival of the spring. The new issue of Kitten Magazine also had some pictures titled "Red Red Red".I just don't get it, whats with the sudden rave over Red, let me know if you have an answer, if not am just going to have to keep wandering why?! Sneaky peek: Kate Moss 4 Topshop
2007-04-04 20:26:00
Yep, its a sneak peek at the Kate Moss collection , it wasn't so much of a surprise when it was announced that Irina will be modelling some clothes from this collection, as you all probably know she used to be the drummer in Babyshambles. I feel the clothes modelled by Irina looks far better than that Kate Moss was wearing, you might think I am being partial because Irina Lazareanu happens to be one of my favourite Supermodels, however the clothes modelled by Irina looks like something I can see me wearing especially the boyish, edgy looks, and the two dresses in the picture below.Pictures from Kate Moss for Top shop.

Fab Street Style
2007-04-04 12:13:00
I personally love street style pictures, its always fun and good to see normal, day to day people being creative about the way they look and dress. You have all probably noticed that I have become quite fund of the high waisted look and I must say seeing this super stylish lady called Emelie in the Stockholm Street style picture made me love the high waisted look even more. She is probably one of the few people, I have seen that look really good in the Top shop High waisted shorts. There are also other fab street style pictures on the site.Pictures from Stockholm StreetStyle

Going High Waisted
2007-03-31 18:37:00
The high waisted look is every where, both on the Catwalk and the High street stores. It is definitely a growing trend and I am starting to get quite fund of the look, so I decided to go hunting for the right high waisted look for me. Yep I wanted one that was cheap, while checking the sale rack in H&M, I found this superb high waisted skirt on sale, not sure why it was on the sale rack, probably because not many shoppers are quite keen on the look. I decided to grab it before anyone else did, my favourite part of the skirt has to be the braces. Pictures from Denimology, ASOS, Brittique, Topshop, and Papermag

Paul Smith SS07 Campaign
2007-03-28 00:05:00
When I first heard that Paul Smith ’s spring campaign will be focusing on "individuality" and using "real" people for his Spring campaign, I was quite excited and looking forward to seeing the pictures. After seeing the pictures featuring Mika, Tyson Ritter (one of the guys from The All American Rejects ) as well as others, I felt the campaign was quite nice but just another typical campaign. The aim was to make use of "real people", I would not refer to Mika and Tyson Ritter from The All American rejects as "real people" though they are still up coming artists, I still see them as celebrities. I haven't got anything against designers trying to be unique by making use of real people in their campaigns, I personally feel it will be very fascinating to see more of it. However I feel the whole theme of trying to use "real people" in this campaign is not very successful because although there are some "real people" in the campaign, the main faces for the campaign are still celebrities...

Love the Sunglasses
2007-03-23 01:41:00
As you've probably noticed, its still freezing cold in march (this is the bit where you do the sad, stress sigh and complain why isn't it spring time yet!!!), however look on the bright side, may be spring is not to far away after all 'cause there's been a whole load of sun shimmering around for the past few weeks now, which gives everyone an excuse to get those sunglasses on. Personally I like large, colourful, retro sunglasses, however a big thumbs up has to go to the party peeps at Dirtydirtydancing, their sunglasses are super stylish. Some of my favourites are shown below.Pictures from Dirty Dirty Dancing by Alistair Allan

Giles Deacon's "GOLD" for New-Look
2007-03-19 18:53:00
I'm sure most of you have heard about the big buzz over the Gold collection by Superb British fashion Designer of the year: Giles Deacon . The collection debuted on 13Th of March, so (yes you guessed right) I decided to check it out. I must say, the collection is definitely leaving up to its expectation, I went to New-Look days after the collection went on sales and there were just a few left on the hangers especially the dresses (obviously lots of fashionistas are loving the collection). My favourite were the print dresses especially the pink and silver. The colour pink is not usually what I'll choose wear, only very often, however I quite like the pink prints on this collection. The shoes are also quite nice, though I'm not very keen on them. Shoes picture from Shoewawa
Amour Magazine
2007-03-18 04:49:00
Firstly Ive got to apologise for the long silence and lack of frequent post, Ive been really busy with coursework, anyway I'm done with most of them, I hope anyway. As I was checking out some online magazines, I came across Amour Magazin e .Amour is basically an online magazine, that released every month. It features mainly fashion stuff, i quite like the section "You got talent" which featured some interesting drawings by Aiasui. The magazine is alright and quite good for a first issue, I reckon its going to get better with the release of the next issue on the 1st of April. Have a look at the first issue of the magazine here.
KISHIMOTO's Spring Shoes
2007-02-23 20:33:00
This London brand: Elley Kish imoto has always been experimental and quite daring, especially with the use of cartoon images and extremely bright colours. The spring collection is no exception, however I think the shoes are the best of the whole spring collection, these shoes have thick heels so they should be comfortable and the mixture, bold prints and bright colours is just superb. My favourite has to be the pumps, not many designers get away with having so much details but the Kishimoto brand has got it right and definitely working it. The online shop is coming soon!!! However, if you would like to get a thing or two from this brand, you can visit their new store at 'Maison Bertaux, 27 Greek Street, London W1D 5DF"Pictures from Elley Kishimoto's site

Benetton Unites Colour for Spring
2007-02-21 04:00:00
Benetton's Spring collection is bright and I mean Super bright. I love the pictures for their campaign. With the annoying one minute rain and next minute sunshine getting into the spring mood has been quite hard (this is the point where you go awww!!!) however Theresa has come out on top, I have been brightening the rainy days with a lot of bright coloured tights and when I saw the pictures it just made me think "I cant wait for the weather to get in the spring mood". Anyway let me know what you think of the pictures, Tada. Images from Benettons

Thats a Wrap For London Fashion week
2007-02-19 23:36:00
The london fashion week has come to an end and I must say there's was a whole load of talents on the catwalk. However my favourite collections has to include that of Christopher Kane, its a big thumbs up for the Glaswigien designer, his Spring collection is presently available at Topshop. Marc by Marc Jacobs was also nice, thought I reckon it was over hyped. Anyway particularly loved the hats, and shoes, his London Store also opens in Mayfair. And of course TOPSHOP UNIQUE which I thought was just great, not just because I love TOPSHOP but the unique (as the name suggests) looks the collection always has. My other favourite were that of Biba, Aquascinum, Duro Olowu, and that of Emma cook which I couldn't get the pictures. It was broadcasted on video and I must say I love the flat tie up ankle boots. You can watch by clicking on the Vogue UK site. All Images from Vogue UK

Maxi Dress
2007-02-11 22:29:00
There's a whole load of stuff I love about this dress especially the "multi-coloured" prints and the length of the dress. I'm not usually into "full length dresses" but i can really see me wearing this, its on my long "must buy" list for spring, I reckon it will also look gorgeous for the summer. It's available at MISS SELFRIDGE for £45.I decided to put a look together with this dress, let me know what you think about the combinations. The Trench Jacket is £55.00, the sunglasses is £16, the Hobo Bag is £35 and Rose Stud Earrings are £4 all at TOPSHOP. The MARY JANE shoes are £54.99, available in OFFICE.

NY Fashion week so far...
2007-02-10 03:35:00
The New York fashion week has been going well from a range of talented designers from Zac Posen, Anna Sui and many more. I've been dazzelled by most of collections, however my favourite so far turned out to be that of "Doo Ri" (who talked about in a previous post) "Chris Benz" "Rodarte" and "Tory Burch". Doo ri's Collection, I particularly love the puff ball dresses. Chris Benz collection is another of my favourite, the combination of the "Jazz Shoes" (which I,ve been going on about for a while) along with the dresses looks great. Also the use of bright colours alongside black is will put a smile on your warderobe as well as cheer you up those miserable winter days. I was blown away by the hair styles at the Rodarte show, I reckon it emphasised the whole beauty of the collection. The talents behind this gorgeous collection Tory Burch used a variety beautiful buttons in her collection (as most of you know by now I love buttons, I'll stop going on about it as most of you are prob...
