Black is still in
2007-04-25 05:41:00 Summer look is in stores these days. And this year, we are bombarded with 80s clothing. From Forever 21, Guess, to Arden B, bright colored tops, striped T's, and short shorts are all over the display. It is hard to try on outfits that look chic but not thinking that we are wearing clothes from sixth grade again. As it turns out, among all the colorful display, Carrie and I are able to assemble a few outfits under $100 that can probably outlast the 80s trend. Dress: $60.00 from BlueflyShoes: $39.95 at Shoes.comIf you have a thin waistline and would like to show it off, I recommend pairing it with a red or white belt.A v-check top is a good way to show off your neckline. Rebecca Beeson makes tops with the best cotton material for $33.00.Not everyone looks good in skinny pants. Straight legged pants are alway in. Target has Mossimo designed pants for $22.99.She's wearing a pair of not so flat flats. More About: Black , Lack

Ordering Clothes Online
2007-04-13 08:43:00 A lot of my recommended items here are sold online, so I thought I'd talk a bit more about buying clothes online. For most of us, two things come to mind when we think about shopping for clothes online.1. Is this website trustworthy? There is a lot of talk surrounding internet security these days, and here are my tips on choosing the right site.1) Reputation. Anyone from the top 400 internet retailer sites should be reliable.2) Look for brands that you trust. Even though Coach isn't on the top 400 list, the brand name is fairly well-known. If the brand name is well known, they probably spend a decent about of money on their website just to secure their reputation.3) There is a site called resellerratings that rates merchants online. If you are truly worried, you can try looking up the merchant's site here.4) How pretty is the site. Seriously. Most companies that have a budget for internet security will also have a budget for web design and usability. If the site is cumber... More About: Clothes , Online , Erin , Cloth
Five ways to wear a Khaki Skirt
2007-04-10 10:07:00 A khaki skirt is the staple item for spring. This is something that can go with almost anything in your closet. A coworker asked me today if I had a different outfit for everyday of the year - I answered "no", although I would not mind that being true :-) I actually have been wearing my khaki skirt almost every week for the past month, but I mix it up so it appears as a brand new outfit every time. Top - another Anthropologie find. It was on the sales rack for $39.99. Gotta grab those while they last. Free People has a similar style in blue, this would go with the skirt too.Skirt - I originally got it from United Colors of Benetton. Here is one for $44.99 from Liz Claiborne.Target has one for $29.99, Isaac Mizrahi design. Belt - $19.99 on Sale from Banana Republic last summer. Looks like they have a darker color available this season for $39.99.Shoes - I bought this during my last trip to Austin, Texas. I can't remember the name of the ... More About: Wear , Five
Anthropologie - Timeless
2007-04-10 09:13:00 I discovered Anthropologie years ago, while I was still a poor college student at Berkeley. It was always one of those stores I could only admire from afar. The style so elegant, the cost so unaffordable.A few year ago, I finally got past my shop-at-Ross-only mentality and made my first purchase at this store. After some digging around the sales rack, I found out that the out of season items can go as low as $40 for a top, and $30 for pants. This wasn't much more than what I was used to before. After I moved to San Francisco, I was lucky enough to live close to a local store. It is a short Bart ride downtown, one block away from the Powell Street Station. For those of you who's never heard of the store, it's owned by the same folks who run Urban Outfitters . It is generally know for its feminine design made with comfortable and sturdy material. The blue dress cost me $98, not part of the sales rack, but just under my budget for this shopping trip. It's been a warm spring in San F... More About: Timeless , Polo , Logi , Mele
Shopping is a Sport
2007-03-16 06:55:00 I recently got in a debate with a coworker regarding whether or not Scrabble should be considered a sport. Being an avid scrabble player, the nationalist ranked "athelete" gave many examples on how the challenge of the mind should be taken as seriously as the challenge of the body. Though not as action ridden as basketball, it's still a game of strategy, and the most skilled come on top. At the end of the arguement, I was almost convinced. This got me thinking, if a game of Scrabble can be considered a sport, can I say that shopping is also a sport?I don't mean shopping in an everyday sense; the lackadaisical shopper who browses through the sale racks to receive retail therapy. I mean shopping with a purpose. The fashion stylists, the personal shoppers, or the designers, who are given a budget to figure out ways to display a fashion style with the limited options presented at various stores. They are presented with contraints, and asked to provide Athe best visual solution; it's ... More About: Shopping , Sport , Spor |
