Tried & True!
2007-12-11 00:09:00
I love playing with makeup just about as much as I love giving you the latest scoop on fashion trends. So, you can just about guess how excited I was to begin campaigning with CoverGirl cosmetics. Yay! They recently sent over some fabulous products for me to test out and I?m here to give you the results. Now, that I finally got my hands on these items just in time for the holidays (the holidays always inspire me to try out a new look), I thought it?d be the perfect time for me to give you the skinny on what your beauty aisle favorite has to offer! First up, is the new CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Foundation in "Soft Copper". Being that I?m not a foundation wearer (due to lack of funds and product application experience); I was really excited to give Natural Hue a go. The result? This rich and creamy foundation with buildable coverage had me feeling like ?every inch the lady.? Why? I felt absolutely gorgeous after applying this product, maybe because it left my skin feelin...

"In" Style!: LaTonya Saqiid
2007-12-06 17:11:00
Holiday parties are just around the corner and to get you ready to go from the workplace to an evening out, this edition of "In" Style ! is geared toward beauty. I recently interviewed LaTonya Saqiid bka "The Beauty Adviser" to give us the lowdown on what beauty trends to try this season. What is the one skin care or makeup product that every woman should have in her purse? It?s difficult to limit it to just one. My mother used to tell me that every woman should have hand lotion in her purse, especially during the winter months and she was right. The cold air and blistery winds wreak havoc on our skin, not to mention that frequent hand washing with anti-bacterial soaps robs our hands of natural oils. It?s crucial that we protect our hands by lubricating them often. Lip balm is another essential item to always have. We need it to keep our lips soft and supple. And, if we wear lipstick, then it is important to keep a tube in our purses to freshen up fading lip color at a moments notice...

Nerd Alert!
2007-11-30 21:55:00
Four eyed fashionistas and fashionistos and the like are turning in their petite frames for a new pair of specs - Professorial aka "geek" glasses. The influence came straight from the runway - they were shown going down the cawalk during the Yigal Azrouel Fall 2007 show (see: slideshow below). This look also previously triumphed on the spring runways. At Dolce & Gabbana, for one, models sported geeky turquoise glasses and severe topknots, a look that's usually more popular at your local library. In Paris, Balenciaga's Nicolas Ghesquiere dressed his girls in hefty square-rimmed frames that might do double duty in a high school chem lab. Miu Miu showed teeny glasses in bright colors, while models at Marc by Marc Jacobs wore graphic black or white versions (not shown). Stars such as Angela Simmons, Scarlett Johannson, and Chris Brown among others have already sported this "geek chic" look. What do I think? Believe it or not, I?m into it. I already have to wear glasses anyway and I'm...

As you can tell, I'm lovin' this trend! (Just sexy!, LOL.)Whose idea was it to make smart "uncool" anyway? Some airhead, probably. One who reads books only because they're assigned for a particular course. Or, one who has higher scores on the PS3 than the SAT. Not you, right? Right. You're smart! More importantly, you're not obsessed with impressing others. That's why you can pull this look off so well. You are who you are, and you're proud of it. Maybe you let every person you see know it, or maybe you just keep it to yourself. Either way, you're comfortable in your own skin. Click here to view various styles of the wayfarer-style glasses.Love this trend?!?!?! Shop more geek chic finds h...

Rihanna channels the 1920s with a flapper-style haircut at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards.Rihanna channels the 1940s with a glossy pink lip, long lashes and a red vintage hat.Rihanna channels the 1960s with her '60s girl-group inspired hairstyle complete with soft curls, strong black eyeliner and a pale pink lip. When fashion and creativity collide, there is no limit to what you can do and Rihanna proves that everytime. Style Spotlight!: Pfatty Girl Accessories

It was love at first sight when I came across Pfatty Girl Accessories . No matter your age, size, or sense of style, every woman will find something that is ?uniquely her? at Pfatty Girl. With a fabulous selection of handmade one-of-a-kind pieces and a full range of accessories that suit our varying body types, I just had to share my fab find with you here at Spotlight On Style !. Enjoy! What originally led you to the path of jewelry design? We both shared a love of accessories, but for plus size women the accessory market was practically non-existent in North America. The decision to cater to women of all sizes came out of necessity and frustration more than anything else. I think many women can relate to trying on bracelets that couldn?t get past their hand or choked their wrist. Not to mention necklaces that fit like chokers. In addition, for the average size woman, although she had many places to find accessories, she also found many women wearing the same accessories as she owned. ...

Now don't get me wrong, these colors are beautiful and they work well on most any complexion; but, take note from Ms. Knowles and make a bold impression this season in a fun and fruity hue! Below are suggestions for what hues look best on what skintone.Cool complexions: Those with cool color profiles look best wearing hues in red and plum. These color choices are best for you because cooler complexions look great in very bold colors.Warm complexions: Those with warm color profiles look best wearing hues in dark peach and golden brown. These color choices are best for you because you have a lot of depth and coloring to your skin tone and these hues will accent it even more.

Let that fearless fashionista inside of you come out and play for awhile by taking this look and putting your own little twist on it. In doing so, I suggest that you make the look your own by wearing a sleek pantsuit paired with the season's bold hues. Also, invest in a fitted vest or a pair of suspenders and team with a fitted shirt to add a feminine twist to this look.
