Nokia researching on high-definition video recording on cell phones
2007-12-10 11:02:00 Video recording on cell phones is set to reach high-definition quality in a few years, an executive at the world’s top cell phone maker, Nokia , said Wednesday. "It’s coming. Technically, we are a couple of years away," Nokia Chief Technology Officer Tero Ojanperä told Reuters in an interview. "It’s still a few years away." Cell phones have had cameras, and the ability to use them as camcorders, for more than five years, but only this year did Nokia start to sell a model, the N95, which records television-quality video. Better quality could boost sales of pricey multimedia phones and also hit camcorder makers such as Panasonic, Samsung, and JVC, just as the success of camera phones from Nokia and Sony Ericsson has hurt the still-camera industry. Nokia alone expects to sell about 200 million camera phones this year and aims to sell more than 250 million in 2008. Nokia N82- Hand On vs Nokia N95 & N81

The front of the N82 uses some shiny plastic that’s made to look metallic, the sides are the same as the N81, and the back is more plastic but with a glossy surface. But it still manages to feel heavy and all in all, it’s a well built device. -Menus are faster and more responsive than ever. The gallery still lags. Boot-up time was much faster compared to the (original) N95. -The stereo speakers are clearer, but also lower in volume than the N95. Same goes with the loudspeaker. -The camera. Pretty sick (that’s the good sick), and faster too. Post-processing has been improved to only a couple seconds per shot, and the picture quality looks superb. For the most part, the changes seem to be mostly minor updates to make your N95 a little snazzier than before, although Engadget does report a speed improvement to the camera. With version 20.0.015, you’ll get the Nokia Music Store Client, my Nokia SMS tips, a new Welcome application, and tweaks to the camera software to allow for "far" faster shot times. There’s also N-Gage game previews, video ringtones, theme animations and bug fixes. To update your N95, download the latest Nokia Software Updater and install.
