Bandwidth the key to network choices
2006-11-29 23:54:02
Communication constraints the biggest inhibitor to cutting costs by using VoIP.COMPANIES have the choice of continuing to run their voice networks separately, run interbranch calls over their own wide-area network (WAN) or get a high speed internet service to act as both data and voice provider. In an in-house scenario, a company could implement a Voice over Internet Protocol (V0IP) solution to route voice calls for interbranch communication between employees over the company-owned WAN, using traditional telephones. The next step would be to add an IP telephony solution that integrates voice capabilities into PC applications. For example, the user could then make an interbranch voice call by selecting an option in Outlook and speaking into an IP phone or speaking directly into the PC using a headset or built-in microphone."The latest laptops are coming out with a built-in, high-quality microphone so users can speak directly into it when making VoIP calls," says Danie Nel...

Can the new universal remotes really simplify your life?
2006-11-29 23:54:02
What a great invention, the remote control. It allows you to control many electronic gizmos in the home. The unforseen problem is that like rabbits they multiply until you forget which remote control does what to who. What we need is a remote control organizer. One of the biggest drawbacks about old style universal remote controls was the fact that you had to input code after code into the device. This had to be done to allow it to recognize and function with all of your household electronics. Couple this with the fact that there were only a few different devices that could be plugged into your remote via remote control codes and you have a recipe for a disastrously unfriendly remote that was originally designed to simplify peoples lives. The new remote control organizers are different.Luckily enough, however, remote control codes have begun to be abandoned in our high tech world, leaving people who purchase universal remote controls much happier and less angry customers.Chances...

Networking Your Way To Online Business Success
2006-11-29 23:54:02
Forums, groups, boards, and loops; they?re all synonymous for online locations facilitating online networking. Some are entirely public, where everyone and anyone can click to the URL, read the messages and if they have no interest in contributing, they can just lurk. Some require active participation and others require registration before members can participate. These online forums, groups, boards or loops are different from paid membership sites in that there is no cost to network at these websites. Some are active, some are sleepy. Some are strictly for online business related topics; some allow more OT (Off Topics) and social interaction. There are forums for every imaginable topic: Entrepreneurs, International online business, Health related fields, Technology, Copywriters, Web Designers, Work at Home Moms, Programmers, Finance, Ebay, Job Seekers, Internet Marketing, Writers, Inventors and Virtual Assistants, just to barely scratch the surface of what?s out there on the W...

Understanding how multi level marketing (mlm) works
2006-11-29 23:54:02
In recent years, MLMs have gotten into telecommunications, including local and long distance services and cell phones. Others have developed online services or website products. Today, virtually everything is available from an MLM. Over 2,000 companies in the United States are MLMs and they made over $28 billion in sales in the past year. MLMs employ 13 million people as independent sales people.Unlike traditional companies that sell to the public, MLMs work on the principal of relationship marketing. Each distributor sells to his friends, family and co-workers. Usually, one of these individuals is interested in becoming a distributor and will sell to his friends and relatives and so on. The system works because each distributor has a vested interest in making it work. The distributor receives a percentage of the sales of the people he has recruited. As well, each distributor is also a consumer of the product being sold. Product and brand loyalty is fierce. There is no need for...

The week in review
2006-11-29 23:54:02
The week in review. This has been a very enlightening and challenging week. My daily routine is starting to form a pattern and pretty soon this network marketing thing is going to become second nature. I know there are certain things that have to be done in order to be successful and they must be carried out each and every day. How they get carried out and in what priority is a personal decision but they must get carried out.Visiting forums, reviewing business offers, managing links and advertising, tracking campaigns, article writing and submission. Let?s not forget website management, search engine submissions, prospecting and list building. What about product reviews and development. We found a new product, we review it, get it into our sites, and begin marketing of said product. This in itself is a time consuming process but is definitely required if we are going to move forward with our business. We must continually build our list, list. List! No matter what organization you...

Remote support webcast allays mobilization security concer
2006-11-29 23:54:02
Resolving the issue of security vs. mobility in remote support.Ridgeland, MS (PRWEB) Researchers have consistently found that security concerns are a major barrier to the mobilization of the corporate workforce, and providing technical support that ensures data security is a major issue. A new webcast from NetworkStreaming, the only remote support solution provider in the industry offering an appliance-based solution, addresses this issue.A 2006 survey published by Tech Republic, conducted on 370 IT and business professionals from a cross-section of industries, revealed that, although 63 percent of those surveyed agreed that mobilizing the workforce with full access to business applications was critical to maintaining their competitive edge, only 18 percent have done so. The biggest challenges to implementation included security and compliance concerns, and the ongoing cost of technical support.Another survey, conducted by the Economist Intelligence Unit and sponsored by Symant...

Five proven methods for internet marketing success
2006-11-29 23:54:02
There are hundreds of ways that you can promote your online business or website, some more effective than others. These five proven methods will help you to generate traffic to your site and also to generate income into your wallet.1. One thing that appeals to everyone is ?free.? If it is free people will take it. Think of the samples of cheese given away at grocery stores. Do you really want a small piece of cheese? Of course not! But you take it simply because it is free and someone is nice enough to offer it to you. The same principle applies with information or services offered from your website. You can send out free newsletters or offer a free trail period. One popular thing that is being given away now are free credit reports or free PC scans. These freebies are what we in the marketing field like to call teasers. After running the free credit report or PC scan we alert the customer if there is something found on their credit record or PC and then offer to show them what...

Is Your Wireless Network Secure?
2006-11-29 23:54:02
Network ing professionals are encouraging people to think twice about wireless network security. You might be thinking I use WEP-128 bit encryption with MAC address filtering, I?m safe. Or you may be you?ve never even heard of WEP, if this is the case you might want to unplug your wireless access point immediately. But then again look at the bright side at least you don?t have the false sense of security that your network is secure. Perhaps you are the smart guy who knows how insecure wireless networks are. You too are at just an equal risk!Your computer consultant might be partially right when they say WEP will protect your network. It will protect your network from casual snooping but that is about it. Last year the FBI was able to crack a WEP protected network in less than 3 minutes with tools widely available on the internet. Since then it?s been downhill for WEP.At this point you might be thinking, ?Oh well, someone gets on my network and uses the internet?. This is complet...

How to build a cat 5 cable
2006-11-29 23:54:02
The steps below are general Ethernet cat5 cable construction guidelines. They will work for making any category of network cables. For our example we will be making a category 5e patch cable. A key point to remember in making Ethernet patch cords is that the ?twists? in the individual pairs should remain entwined as long as possible until they reach the RJ-45 plug termination. The twisting of the pairs in the network cable is what helps to ensure good connectivity and keeps cross-talk interference to a minimum.STEP 1 - StrippingStart by pulling out about 12 feet of bulk network cable to making the process a little easier. Carefully remove the outer jacket of the cable exposing about 1 1/4" of the twisted pairs. Be careful when stripping the jacket as to not nick or cut the internal wiring. After removing the outer case you will notice 8 wires twisted in pairs and a rip cord (white thread).STEP 2 - InspectingInspect the newly revealed wires for any cuts or scrapes that expo...
