Smoking is Good!
2007-12-23 02:53:00
I started smoking at the age of 15. At first it was just to experiment and to impress girls, but later on I got hooked to it. It's been a long time I've been smoking, and I still feel good about it. Anyway, here are the top 5 reasons why smoking is good: 5  It will keep your body warm during winter 4   It kills appetite, therefor you eat less (thus making you slimmer). You won't find a supermodel who doesn't smoke. 3   It helps you to concentrate on complex tasks (such as programming and engineering) 2   It reduces stress and anxiety dramatically And the numero uno reason is: 1   It makes you feel good! (didn't you notice everyone smokes after having sex?)Smoking is not only good for you, it's good for your country's economy as well... a lot of people earn their living by making and selling cigarettes, and the government earns a large revenue as well. So smoke as much as you can, forget what the doctors say. No matter what you're going to die anyway!

My 4th Bank Account
2007-12-11 18:16:00
After checking out at three banks I decided to open my new account at Brac Bank . Their fees are reasonable enough, has enough ATMs around the country, and more importantly their customer services is good. I'd rate them 3.5/5. The Visa card that comes with the account is accepted on all QCash machines and of coarse on all shops where I buy stuffs from, so good for me.

Ending Life
2007-12-07 03:23:00
Lately I've been thinking about suicide a lot. I never had a family, never had friends, I was never a happy person. The sadness and pain that has accumulated over the years will never go away unless I do what I wanted to do since my childhood. I've shed a lot of tears and I'm tired of it. This is getting unbearable. I must find a solution. Oh yeah, a full proof solution. Listening to: Scooter - And No Matches.

River Cruise on Buriganga
2007-11-30 19:17:00
I was very excited about the cruise on Buriganga river, but all my excitement died within half an hour of reaching Sadarghat Launch Terminal. The place is way too dirty and full of beggars of all ages. The river is fucking dirty and smells shit. I'll never ever go back to that place without a very good reason. I never imagined a part of Dhaka could be so ugly.

Dumb BTTB
2007-11-29 19:05:00
I'm considering sending a formal complaint to ICANN and IANA against BTTB. I'll be meeting ICANN officials in February, and I'll surely discuss about BTTB's mismanagement of .BD ccTLD. Here's what raged my anger: I wanted to register a domain that expired over a year ago, but BTTB officials told me that it's not possible if I'm not the "original" registrant. According to their dumb rule, anyone who registers a .BD domain becomes the "owner" of that domain for life. Even if he doesn't pay the yearly due it'll be marked as a registered domain and BTTB won't allow anyone else to register it. Can BTTB get any more dumber than this? Do they understand how the domain registry business works?

I need around 80 lacs taka for the fist round financing of my new start-up company. If you're willing to invest, then get in touch with me. If you know someone who's looking for a project to invest, then hook me up with them. My new initiative is first of it's kind in Bangladesh and it'll surely bring a revolutionary change in the tech industry. Are you with me or not?

Mar Shala Re!
2007-11-09 00:08:00
Former chief of Bangladesh Army Lieutenant General Mahbubur Rahman (retired) got a good bashing from a fellow BNP activist! Who will believe that this guy once lead the army and used to get salutes wherever he went? Doesn't he have martial arts or hand-to-hand combat training? It's really amazing to see this sort of scenes... but thanks to the anonymous photographer, it had given me a straight 20 minutes of laughter! Photo credit: E-Bangladesh.
Lychee Lassi Concert
2007-11-04 19:56:00
Location: German Club, Gulshan 2, Dhaka Time: 20:45 onwards State of mind: Content German band Lychee Lassi started playing in 1998 and made a name for themselves with their debut EP Speed, which came out in 2000 and was named "Record of the Month" by TIP Magazine. They have gone on to play gigs all over Europe at clubs, open-airs, and festivals, and tonight they played in front of a live audience in Bangladesh for the first time. I really had a good time at this electronica-jazz fusion concert, and so did my friend Rafiq who accompanied me. Due to stupid government regulation the bar at the club was closed, so we opted for Pepsi and Fanta. It's getting relatively harder to get alcoholic beverages in Bangladesh... the scenario is pretty ugly. Anyways, here's the line-up of Lychee Lassi: Dirk Berger on guitar, Beat Halberschmidt on bass, Roland "Roy" Knauf on drums, and DJ Illvibe on turntables. They are flying to India tomorrow to perform at Egmore, Chennai, so good luck to t...

Testing Your Geekiness
2007-11-02 00:03:00
I just took the Are you a Computer Geek? test out of curiousity, and I scored 100! I don't know if this is bad or good, I'm just having a funny feeling. Here's the result: Step aside Bill Gates, Linus Torvalds, and Steve Jobs... You are by far the SUPREME COMPUTER GOD!!! I've no clue how how their scoring system works, but just to check I went back and intentionally chose 3 wrong answers but I was still given 100. Anyway, if you guys have taken the test then feel free to share your score with me.

Dan Thunderbird
2007-10-29 18:52:00
I knew Dan was a well known rock star, but what I didn't knew is that he's really really famous in Norway! His younger brother Kim is in the music industry too, and I hope he becomes famous too! I'm glad to have cousins like them! Dan on the left, with his band Backstreet Girls: He plays bass guitar on two more bands, Crime Club and Ratcats.

Armin van Buuren Rocks!
2007-10-20 19:56:00
"Worldwide trance community tuned in and locked into frequency... Stand by for the latest in trance and progressive, broadcasting across the planet to over thirty countries... This is a state of trance with Armin van Buuren." I just fell in love with Armin van Buuren after listening to episode # 320 of his radio show A State of Trance. He plays exactly the type of trance I listen to, and I loved his extraordinary remixes. This Dutch DJ is no less talented than Tiesto or Paul Van Dyke... no wonder his world ranking is # 3 according to The DJ List!

Water Kingdom Visit
2007-10-16 19:14:00
It was my first time at Water Kingdom in Ashulia and I really enjoyed it. With me was Sumon and two of his cousins and we had a good time together. There was a large crowd since it's Eid holiday, but we took it as an advantage as we could see far more number of "wet" girls than we could in any other time of the year! ;)

Lima's Wedding
2007-10-15 18:54:00
I usually avoid family programs, but I didn't want to miss Lima's wedding since we two have some beautiful childhood memories. It was also good to be able to meet almost all of my maternal relatives, whom I only get to see once in a blue moon. Nice Eid get together!

Gloomy Eid
2007-10-14 06:45:00
Festivals like Eid make me realise how lonely I'm. With no family and friends, I've nothing to do on this day. No place to go, and no one to hang out with. I woke up at 6 in the morning and I'm sitting idle at home. I think I'll get some sleep now, then in the evening I'll watch some TV. Simply an awful day. Listening to: Ayu - Connected.

CCNA Preparation
2007-10-11 19:48:00
Since November 6th is the last day to sit for CCNA exam 640-801, I've decided to go for it. They are phasing out this syllabus and introduced 640-802 where they have added more complicated and junk issues. I've started reading the CCNA Study Guide by Todd Lammle which has been lying on my shelf for quite some time. I hope I'll be able to finish this 700-pages book within the next two weeks. A friend of mine was nice enough to give me his spare Cisco 2501 router which I'm using to practice for the exam. Using a router is a much better choice than to use the simulators. I'm hoping to sit for the exam by the end of this month and hopefully I'll pass! Wish me luck, okay?

Decoding QR Codes
2007-09-29 19:35:00
QR Code acts like a bar code, but it's two dimensional and smarter. It also has a higher capacity of handling data. While conventional bar codes can store up to 20 digits, QR Code or "Quick Response" code hold up to several hundred times more. I'm very impressed with this Japanese innovation and I'm sure you'll be too after you find out what it's capable of. You can decode QR Codes with a camera phone. VGA camera is good enough, no need of fancy 3 megapixel ones. You need to install a QR Code decoder on your phone, my favourites are i-nigma and Kaywa Reader. Here's how to get them: i-nigma: from your phone, point your browser to www.i-nigma.mobi and it'll automatically detect the brand and model. Go to the next step to download and install it. Kaywa Reader: same way as i-nigma, point your browser to http://reader.kaywa.com and follow the instructions. This reader is much more simpler than i-nigma, and I use it myself. Now that you've installed one of the above programs, let...

Prothom Alo Cartoon
2007-09-21 18:26:00
Bangladesh is tagged as a "moderate" Muslim country, but how long can it hold this image? Even today the country witnessed rampages by Muslim fundamentalists in Dhaka. Anyone with a minimal IQ and sense of humour will laugh at the cartoon published on 17th September issue of Prothom Alo's supplement magazine Alpin, but the twisted minded fundamentalists has turned it upside down. The cartoon depicts a conversation between a little boy with a cat on his lap and an elderly cleric: Elderly cleric:  Hey kid, what's your name? Little boy:  My name is Babu Elderly cleric:  You're supposed to say Mohammad before a name. What's your father's name? Little boy:  Mohammad Abu Elderly cleric:  So what's that on your lap? Little boy:  Mohammad cat The cleric teaches the boy to use "Mohammad" before a name and like any kid he follows it and says "Mohammad" before saying "cat". Anyone will laugh at the mistake the boy makes, but the Saudi sponsored evil funda...

When my friend Tanim introduced me to SETI@home back in 2001, I wasn't really convinced. Sure I did believe in the existence of extraterrestrial intelligence, but I couldn't sum up how analysing radio frequencies can detect alien life forms. I went through the entire site, read other literatures, but still didn't had a positive attitude to this project. Then on one fine January morning, Tanim challenged me to beat him on SETI@home. That is, getting more Work Units (WU) than he does. He had around 100 WU at that time, and I had none. I accepted the challenge, and that was the beginning. The poor chap was ultimately beaten, but it took me another year to do so.Later, I retired from the project when the "classic" SETI@home program was closed down. Sure the BOINC client was there, but for some reason I couldn't use it on any of my computers. Neither at home, neither at school, nor at work. After a long break I tried running BOINC this year, and it finally worked. So I started contr...
