See what China cannot see
2007-04-13 21:14:00
This was sent to me by my colleague, Leonard Dumanovsky. The Great Firewall of China website shows which URL's are blocked in China. I guess it comes as no surprise that they have blocked Tibet.com.

Google - The Ultimate Money Making Machine
2007-04-13 00:00:00
Here's a post written by Alex Iskold on the Read/Write blog who provides a clear explanation of how the Internet changes the rules of supply and demand. Google - The Ultimate Money Making Mac hine From his post: "So how does Google compare to Starbucks, which is a very good money making machine in the real world? The key differences between Google and Starbucks are: * Starbucks spends money on expansion, but Google ads spread themselves; * Starbucks spends a lot of money on maintenance, Google spends little; * Starbucks spends money on marketing, but businesses flock to Google because it just works; * Starbucks relies on people, Google relies on software. These differences make Google by far the more attractive business, compared to Starbucks. To put it simply, Google has almost no friction."

PopCasts! are online and entertaining
2007-04-12 23:22:00
POPTECH Pop tech has its video presentations (Pop!Cast s) online. Some of them are great. I really liked the talks of Juan Enriquez, Erin McKean, and Marianne Weems. Weems, who is the artistic director of the New York-based performance and media ensemble The Builders Association, puts technology at center stage to extend the boundaries of contemporary theater. Anyone who has ever encountered (or been) a tech support specialist in India will appreciate this piece. View what's in store for its next conference in October, 2007, which will bring together 500 thinkers in the sciences, technology, business, design, the arts, education, government and culture.

Panning and Zooming Images
2007-04-11 04:44:00
This is a very basic tutorial to help you with panning and zooming images. (The tutorial that applies to WildPresenter Pro 2+ and WildPresenter Lite 2+). You can read the tutorial here or keep scrolling. Panning and Zoom ing Image s INTRODUCTION You can download a zip file with 2 projects that show the use of panning and zooming using the Super Transition animation. In order to pan and zoom on images it is best to start with an image that is larger than the area you wish to pan or zoom on. You can, of course, enlarge the image in WildPresenter. However, when you scale an image larger, it will pixelate. So it is best to start with the largest possible image.

"My choice came down to Wildpresenter, Camtasia, and Captivate..."
2007-04-06 22:27:00
We just got this great comment from one of our customers! "I tested almost every presentation and e-learning application available. At the beginning I didn't want to spend more than $100, but then I realized that good applications cost more and are well worth the money. My choice came down to Wild presenter, Camtasia, and Captivate, and I worked with all 3 intensively. In the end I chose WildPresent er because I found it to be the best. It is the most powerful and flexible program, and I got the most for my money. It's also easy to use." -- Marco Baer, founder, vegasvideo.de

(This can be made in WildPresenter.) For a less grounded approach to looking after the planet, take a look at some of the wacky ideas of scientists covered in ENN's article, Could Crazy Technology Save the Plane t ? by Seth Borenstein For a great example of using the Internet for purposes of activism, check out MorethanMonarchs.org: Networking for Illegal Logging Activism by Jeff McIntire-Strasburg on Treehugger.

The Foresight Project and Step it Up on April 14th
2007-04-05 02:10:00
The Foresight Project holds an annual contest for high school kids to write or make a video of their imagined solutions to our energy and climate issues. The contest is called Imagining Tomorrow: Alternate Energy Futures Mary Essary, the founder and visionary of this nationwide contest believes that writing and the creation of video can be powerful tools to help shape students minds, and that science-fiction can be a great way to get them thinking about many of the ways in which we can ensure our future on this planet. The contest is a way to get students to look around in their own backyards and see the realities of the issues we face, while encouraging them to unleash their creativity and envision how we might solve them. Step it Up 2007 This April 14th, tens of thousands of Americans will gather all across the country at meaningful, iconic places to call for action on climate change.
