Hectic Weekend

This was a nice weekend... hectic but nice. I got some more DDR playtime in over the weekend... starting to regain my skillz. Also watched quite a bit of Heroes this weekend as well as a bit of the second season of Prison Break, which I've finished about halfway now. I must say though, now that I've also got my fiancé hooked on Heroes, we'll probably be watching a bit more of that.  read more »

Not nice being sick

Being sick is not fun... it's even worse when you can't sleep at night. This makes me sick AND tired... not a fun combination. Don't have much else to say, except that Star craft II news still seems to be making the rounds. Oh, also, I'm playing a game called Ghost Master. Check it out, it's quite fun actually. I went through my games collection today... and while most of it is pretty "blah", there are always a few games that I enjoyed a lot! British Judge doesn't know what a web site is

While many of us think it's quite self-explanatory, there are apparantly people who have no clue what a web site is. In this case, a British Judge is trying three men charged under Britain's new anti-terrorist laws. The men have been operating a web site that showcases violent Islamic material, including beheadings of Western hostages. The case sounds open and shut to most people... but not to the judge.  read more »

Blaming Technology for Human Stupidity

I'm sure you've heard the standard excuses before. "My computer somehow lost the file" or things like "I did set the backups for 12AM!". Fine, there ARE reasons where technology works against us. But blaming your GPS system for the fact that you parked your car in front of a moving train? That's human stupidity hard at work there! You gotta read it to believe it... So I did some more digging to see if I could find any other examples of human stupidity trying to blame technology.  read more »

First bit of comment spam

So I've had my first bit of comment spam. Imagine my surprise when I look at the recently posted comments only to find a whole list of links, pointing to "anal" this and "teenie" that. I sometimes wonder why people bother? Do they make lots money in some unknown manner that I am not aware of? I mean, there was some loser prepared to visit the website and have an entire list of about 30 links ready, to paste it in a comment for unsuspecting users.  read more »

Crisis at work...

So there I was, happily surfing the Internets when suddenly the connection dies. Do the normal, ping the upstream proxy, no reply. Probably just the upstream provider. Two minutes later though, the calls come in. People can't connect to other PC's on the intranet or they can't access the Warehouse application to handle orders, etc, etc. First thing on my mind: broken switch.  read more »

Blizzard has announced an upcoming event in South Korea. An event they themselves will organise and an event where they will be announcing their latest game. So what could it be? Maybe Star Craft Ghost is finally going to be released? Yeah right! StarCraft Ghost was announced in 2002 and finally in March 2006, Blizzard announced that the game would be "indefinitely postponed".  read more »

How to steal a Projector:

How's this for stupid? A video camera in a technology store in Australia caught a man trying... no wait, succeeding to steal a LCD Projector ... by stuffing it down his pants! At first you think it's impossible, especially as the young man looks like he's trying to steal the biggest projector in the store. At one stage, he even gets down on his knees trying to stuff the projector down his pants. The thing is... he got away with it! It's really something you have to see to believe!  read more »

Lazy Saturday

If there's ever been a lazy Saturday , it's been this one. I've been on the couch all day catching up with a few TV Shows. I've finished the first season of Supernatural and... I know this is VERY LATE, but I've finally started watching Prison Break. Yeah, I know it's very late and they recently finished the second season. I watched the first 4 episodes of Season 1 today and now I finally know what the hype is about. It's a pretty good show!  read more »

New Fantastic Four Movie to be released

Spiderman! Okay, lame intro... but the movie is not going to be lame! My fiancé and I are going to watch the new Spiderman 3 movie tomorrow night at it's worldwide release. One of my friends at the office already booked the tickets earlier this week. Spiderman has always been one of my favourite super heroes. Okay, so now that I know how blob fields work and I can see that SQLite is VERY lite, and the .Net ADO provider is not as slow as I expected it would be, I think the application layout is as follows: The app will scour the directory tree of a CD/DVD using some combination of Windows API calls and recursive procedures.  read more »

Progress: Blob fields are cool!

So I've heard of blob fields before, but I've never used them. Until today that is! I have succesfully implemented a C# solution, saving an image file directly to a blob field in a SQLite database. Now most of you might think "so what?". For beginners like me, this is pretty amazing! Working through a tutorial I found over at Egghead Cafe it was actually quite easy. I recommend you go take a look at that tutorial over there. I've taken the code and simplified it a lot with a bunch of comments.  read more »
