2007-06-27 21:05:00
Cleveland’s best player announced Tuesday night that he would honor his commitment to play for the US national basketball team this summer. He was on the fence about playing because with the Cavs making it to the finals that would mean he would play over 100 games this season. Lebron said that at 22 he knew his own body and he felt he would be ready to play for the team this summer. He doesn’t yet know how much he will play but he says he will be ready when they start their 3 day mini camp on July 22. The US national team start the FIBA Americas Tournament on August 22. This tournament is a qualifier for the 2008 Olympics to be held in Beijing. Good Luck guys and bring home the gold.

Wild Day in Wisconsin
2007-06-24 23:08:00
Imagine this, a driver not being there for the green flag but still winning the race. It happened last night in the NASCAR Busch series race in Wisconsin . Denny Hamlin was late for the race because of a misunderstanding in what time he was supposed to be there so substitute driver Aric Almirola started the race for him. Denny jumped in the car during an earlier pit stop. He sliced his way through traffic and wound taking first when the checkered flag dropped. Since Denny did not start the race Almirola will get the money and points for the race. This was the first time since 1985 that  relief driver has stepped in and won the race. Almirola was not available to the press after the race but he was visibly upset. Denny made it to the track in time to start the race but his helicopter was not able to park on the helo pad because of cars that were parked in the way. Instead he had to fly to airport and take a car back to the track.

Pacman Turns Himself In
2007-06-23 16:30:00
Many of you may already know about the football player Adam “Pacman ” Jones and the legal trouble he is in now, but if you don’t here it is. He turned himself in this week on two felony charges of coercion. These two charges could net him up to 12 years in jail if he is convicted. But this is only part of what I want to talk about today. This headline got me thinking, are athletes supposed to be role models for our young people? Should they be held to a higher standard than other people just because they are in the spotlight? Also, as a society do we convey the message that if you are famous that you can get away with things that you would not be able to if you weren’t famous. Please leave a comment and tell me how you feel about this subject.
