MX vs. ATV Untamed Gameplay
2007-10-16 03:55:00
I have to say this looks pretty promising. As long as they work out a few things, and as long as the pro physics make the game a little different this WILL be a sick game. If only they would ditch the 50 mph corners!!! MX vs. ATV Untamed comes out December 17th so pre-order now people!Check out this video

The G.O.A.T. Is No More
2007-10-11 10:12:00
Suzuki announced today that RC had to drop out of the US open of supercross that was scheduled for this weekend and most likely the Bercy Supercross in France set to go next month. He was diagnosed with CFS or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome earlier this week, and was advised to take it easy. Doctors said it was most likely due to an intense training schedule on both 2 wheels and 4, and a lack of sleep while taking care of his new twins. I guess the guy was pretty busy, and his body paid the toll. This is a pretty sad story to hear being a motocross fan, knowing that the Greatest Of All Time got stuck with something so unfortunate. Being a glass half full kinda guy, I figured at least he completed his amazing career, and got to achieve all his racing goals before this happened. All I'm saying is the timing could have been alot worse. Our best goes to Ricky, and the whole Carmichael camp, hoping that things look up for RC, and he can still fulfill his car racing dreams.

RC, RV, What's The Difference?
2007-10-01 21:07:00
This past week after the Moto des Nations, I had a chance to reflect on what really happened, and the true significance of that race. No one really pointed it out, but in my eyes, it was a sort of "passing of the torch" from the GOAT, Ricky Carmichael, to young RC look alike, Ryan Villopoto. Because while it was Ricky's last outdoor motocross race for the rest of his career, RV really stole the show. Not to take away from Carmichael at all, but what Ryan did was simply amazing. Not only did he beat all the greatest riders in the world, but he did it with a 200cc "disadvantage." I think that was a sign of things to come. If anyone is going to challenge Ricky's records anytime soon, its going to be the Washington native, Villopoto. That dude can flat out haul. This was actually Villopoto's second MXoN, if you remember last year in England, RV rode hard, but Caroli had the upper hand and took the overall. Well the story was way different this year in Budds Creek. Villopoto had Caroli...

The Red(head) White and Blue Take The Chamberlin Trophy
2007-09-25 06:02:00
For the third year in a row, team USA was victorious in the world renowned Motocross of Nations. It was an amazing day in Budds Creek, that saw riders from team USA winning every moto. This was the first time in over 20 years that the MXoN's would be held on American Soil, but track promoter Jonathan Beasley did more than his part to make the changes needed to hold a great motocross event. The first Moto of the day saw MX1 and MX2 (or motocross and motocross lites) class do battle. But to some surprise, it was not team USA's Ricky Carmichael that dominated, but rather his teammate on the small bore, Ryan Villopoto. For some time now, at most nationals, RV and BT101 have been laying down faster laps than any of the 450 riders, and today was no different. Villopoto's fastest lap was as much as 2 seconds quicker than the GOATs. Ricky had a first turn crash that left him near last. But he would come through the pack to finish third behind Austrailias Chad Reed. So it was USA 1-3 after...

I'm Back
2007-09-17 04:39:00
Sorry for the long hiatus people. Unlike those jerks at Racer X, I have an actual day job to attend to. As much as I would like to just sit around on a computer all day and write about how sweet motocross is, I cant. Its been one hell of a summer. Easily one of the best in a long time, if not ever. But all good things must come to an end. Grant Langston wrapped up his first ever championship, ok well he's one just about every 125 title there is to win, but this was his first title in the premier class. Congrats to him, I'll admit, I was rooting for him. He's just a smooth rider, and he's on the right colored bike. That's the first championship for Yamaha in almost a decade. Hopefully Grant's success will cary over to Supercross. Villopoto also wrapped up his second AMA 125 Title. I can't wait for that little shrimp to take his game to the 450 or 350 or whatever class its going to be next year. I know he's gonna give Bubba a run for his money. Also Townley will be ridin...

Thoughts on MX Vs. ATV Untamed
2007-08-29 02:56:00
The other day I had some time on my hands, but nothing to do. I mean nothing. It was late and no one was around, so I decided to dig up my old XBOX and play MX vs. ATV Unleashed. But then I quickly remembered that I’ve played this game at least a million times. So it didn’t cure my boredom for very long. But it did get me thinking about the new MX vs. ATV that’s supposed to be out in December. What is it going to be like? I know what I would want, and from checking out some forums, I want pretty much what every other motohead wants.Do I think THQ will deliver? Well yes and no. The game sounds fun, and it seems like they are at least trying to improve on last year’s game, rather than just giving it shiny new graphics. The game will include whips, scrubs and powerslides, and differences in bike size and stroke. Not to mention a POV camera angle that sounds pretty fun. I just wonder how well they will execute all these changes. I still hate the amount of air you get on every si...

I’m sure you’ve all heard all this on every other moto site on the entire web, but I feel the need to sound off on what kick ass summer its been in the world of motocross. I’ll start with Ricky. I have probably used his name at least a thousand times in my short time as a pro blogger, but goddamn the guy is just amazing. So many victories, and just such a class act guy, it wouldn’t be fair to talk about him just about everything I write. This was his retirement summer, in which he raced 6 select rounds. To no surprise, he won all of them, in sometimes dominating, and other times dramatic fashion. Budds Creek ’07 will go down in history, without a doubt. Even though he sat out 3 rounds, he probably has the best shot at winning this championship. We all know with Bubba gone, he’d pretty much be all by himself up front and go 1-1-1-1-1-1. Everyone else would have to be pretty consistent to stop him. But RC is sticking to his guns and calling it quits at 150 even. Farewell R...

Think Before You Vote
2007-08-17 23:02:00
Right now our poll is up, and it’s all about the AMA and what they should do about the displacement changes that are supposed to happen in 2009. Well before you vote, lets think real hard about this here. For the past 5 or 6 rounds, the fastest riders on the entire track have been Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley. Both are 250F pilots if you weren’t already aware. This weekend I thought that trend would change, since RC was gonna be there. I mean he is the greatest racer to ever walk the face of the earth. But to my surprise, both RV and Townley ran faster laps than Ricky Carmichael. Holy shit! Think about that for a sec. 2 riders, on smaller, underpowered bikes, were able to run faster laps than the Ricky Carmichael. Now obviously there are a few factors here, like the absence of Bubba Stewart. Ricky was sort of on cruise control, while Villopoto and Townley were in 100% race mode. So do I think that Villopoto and Townley could beat Ricky in a race? No. No I don’t. But it is re...

R.I.P. Jay 515
2007-08-14 04:56:00
On Wednesday, August 8th 2007, Albany Oregon resident, and local racer Jay Hewett, showed up for Wednesday practice at Albany Motocross Park, just like he had plenty of times before. Sadly, Jay laid his bike down, after a small hill, and a rider on a quad came over the top of that hill and hit Jay. A local firefighter took Jay to the Salem Hospital, where he died early that next morning. Jay will be missed by everyone, and all of our prayers go to his family and friends. Sunday during practice at Albany, there was a memorial lap held for Jay, that I got to take part in. It was a very moving experience for me, and taught me how fast life can be taken away.Once the lap was over and I rode back to my pickup truck, my emotions started to change. It seems so unfair that Jay had to lose his life, because someone had to take their stupid couch with wheels to a motocross track. Quads just don’t belong there. Period! Why should everyone else on the track be in danger just because you aren...
James Bubba Stewart Sidelined...... Again
2007-08-12 03:31:00
Monster Energy Kawasaki announced today that the heir apparent for the AMA Motocross Championship, James Stewart , will be sitting out the 9th round tomorrow at Millville. This marks the second time this season that Bubba has scored 0 points. Most people think that after tomorrow Tim Ferry will inherit the points lead. He could take his second straight overall, except for one tiny issue: Ricky Carmichael.

That shouldn't be a big surprise considering this is a motocross racing blog.Don't worry, that poll was just to get you warmed up. Moto X at X Games
2007-08-05 20:59:00
Last night marked the first time ever that Moto X racing was going to be featured in the X-Games . Ricky Carmichael, Chad Reed, Kevin Windham, Grant Langston and Travis Pastrana were all among a list of riders invited to compete in the inaugural event. The format was going to be a little different than a regular supercross or motocross race. It would consist of more heats, with shorter laps, and less riders. It was supposed to help the racing, but when you invite the #4 of Ricky Carmichael, there’s not much you can do to make the racing closer, except maybe put him on an 85cc or something. But anyway, there were 4 heat races that sent the winners to the main and 2 LCQ’s that sent those winners to the main. K-Dub, Reed, Byrner, and RC all won their heats, and Grant Langston cleaned up in the first LCQ while DV12 pulled out the win ahead of Pastrana in the last LCQ.When the main started, to no ones surprise, Ricky Carmichael jetted away with the unofficial holeshot, and found himse...

WTF?
2007-07-31 01:29:00
If you were at Washougal, or if you listened to it on the racer x motocross show on motocross.com, you know what happened by now. But for those of you who weren’t there, you missed out. Judging by the first motos it would appear to be a really boring day. 2 Kawasaki pilots swept wire to wire in the first 250 and 450 motos, in Ryan Villopoto and James Stewart. But the 2nd motos were the complete opposite of the first 2. Wild doesn’t even begin to describe the madness that all 28,000 fans witnessed at Washougal MX park. Starting with the 2nd 250, Ryan Villopoto crossed the holeshot line in about 20th positioin with Hepler, Dungey and Townley all out front. Ryan Villopoto was riding like a man possessed, absolutely killing all the berms around the Washougal track, and putting in consistant laps as much as 3 seconds faster than anyone else on the track. One lap he was 5 seconds faster than Hepler, Townley, and Dungey! Townley had to work to get by Dungey but eventually found himself...
A Week Of Moto
2007-07-29 06:45:00
So I know I haven’t added anything in quite a while. I’m sorry. I’ve been a little preoccupied. But that does mean one good thing, I have a ton to write about now. So this isn’t really about anything in particular, this is just gonna be a big bag of stuff about everything in the industry from over the week, which is actually a lot. So here we go. First off I wanna talk about team switches. There seems to be a lot of that goin around right now, like a bad case of the flu or something. As you all know David Vuillimen is going with Suzuki, and his replacee Ivan Tedesco is going with the red crew at Honda. But it’s also very likely that Mike Alessi is going to be joining DV12 under the Makita tent with Roger DeCoster and the gang. That should be a pretty interesting team, with Vuillimen, Alessi, Dungey, and soon to be pro Nico Izzi. We’ll see how they do come supercross time. Also rumor has it that Chad Reed will be getting a new teammate in Davi Millsaps. Millsaps should be...

Motocross Des Nations 2005 Video

This is probably one of my favorite videos on the entire internet. The song, and the still shots, and the video all go hand in hand. It was just such a badass moment. We went over there and dominated. Not like last year where we won, but Bubba didn't actually beat Stefan. No this was true USA style. Enjoy.Motocross of Nations Short 2005

Mile High Madness
2007-07-23 20:32:00
Today was the 7th round of the 2007 AMA nationals in Thunder Valley Colorado. James Stewart would make his return after an injury from a high-speed crash left him out last week at Unadilla. He skipped Saturday practice, like usual, but then, like usual, set the fastest lap in Sunday morning practice. It looked like things were finally going to go Bubba’s way. I don’t know what it is about the lucky number 7, but he can’t seem to catch a break. On what should have been a routine, day riding only as fast as he could to take the win, Bubba ended up battling the heat and the altitude in a wacky pair of motos. I’m going to do my best to keep this short, but no promises. In the start of the first moto, James grabbed the holeshot, and was out front early. It was looking good for Stewart, and it seemed that even though he wasn’t 100% he would still pull out the victory. But then he started to slow down. I don’t blame him for taking it easy. Thunder Valley raceway is 6000ft above ...

A new era in Motocross is about to begin. That’s good and that’s bad. Everyone who is a fan of motocross, or even knows what the sport is and who the racers are, will miss Ricky Carmichael. He is the greatest of all time, and it just won’t be the same without him. That’s the bad. The good part is that this opens up the sport for new winners and better racing. Well, at least it should. Bubba is going to be in a league of his own for a few years. That’s a given. But I don’t think he’ll be unopposed for long. Looking into my crystal ball, I see a 5 foot 6 red headed kid running the number 51 on a Kawasaki putting up a fight with JBS. I think that’s where the racing will be in a year or 2.The future of motocross is really up in the air, with riders switching teams, and racing in other countries. Foreign riders coming to the states to race, and like I stated earlier, kids moving up to the big class and having an impact on the 450 racing...

Motocross Tracks In Your Area?
2007-07-20 23:48:00
One of the biggest problems in our sport, is the fact that our riding areas or getting shut down! Especially for those of you reading from cali forn i a. Talk about some tracks or riding areas near you that the man has taken away or shut down. If you dont have any tracks near you that have been shut down, tell me about the good tracks in your area. I want to know where to move to! Just as an example, there is a track close by me that some rich bitches from cali moved by. Well apparently no one told them there was a motocross track that close to their new houses and they started this big deal and tried to get the place shut down.

Ben Townley is currently tied for the lead in the AMA 250F points chase, with Washington native Ryan Villopoto. As all of you should know, Ben Townley was born and raised in New Zealand. The New Zealand Moto cross of Nations team will be pretty damn good with Townley, and current MX1 point’s leader Josh Coppins. The killer kiwis. One rumor was flying around that Roger DeCoster was trying to get Josh to come over and ride outdoors next year in 2008 with Makita Suzuki. Not to mention Dan Reardon coming from Australia to ride for Sobe/Samsung Honda. What I’m trying to get at is; look at the riders from all over the world, coming to race in America. AMA nationals are starting to look like FIM GPs with all the different riders from all over the globe. Look at the variety we have now. David Vuillemin from France and Grant Langston from South Africa. Chad Reed from Australia. Townely from New Zealand. Christophe Pourcel from France who won a Supercross in the 2007 season before getting ...

381 is back!
2007-07-19 03:30:00
April 20th 2007, I went through shoulder repair surgery, to fix all the ligaments I have torn up due to racing. Well let me tell you this, getting surgery, SUCKS! I couldnt move my left arm for a month, and my six pack abs turned to flubber. I sunk into deep deep depression, and for 3 months I had to listen to doctors tell me not to get on a bike, and going against what I wanted to do, I listend. But monday, that all changed. I woke up around 7:30, after getting no sleep and loaded up me and my dad's Yamaha race machines. We weren't exactly going racing, but rather a trip to Winchester Bay Oregon to tear up the miles and miles of sand dunes. That's where I started riding anyway so I felt right at home When the time came, I put on my pants, and jersey. Then helmet, then gloves and topped it all off with my Dragon's. The gas was on, and I was ready to go. After a few swift kicks, the bike jumped to life, and so did I. I could feel it running strong, practically begging me to ride ...

Unadilla 2007 In a Nutshell (A very large nutshell)
2007-07-18 06:35:00
Last weekend at Unadilla, marked the first time in a long time that someone other than Ricky Carmichael or James Stewart took an overall. Mostly because neither of the riders was there. Ricky is going into retirement. Yes I know it's sad, trust me, I will miss him too, and James had a nasty fall in sunday practice that left him watching from the sidelines. This opened up the 450 field like never before. There was at least 6 guys that had an equal shot at winning, and everbody knew some good racing was in store. And of course, good racing did follow. In the first moto Kevin Windham stalked Mike Alessi for about 25 minutes until finally making a pass late in the moto. K-Dub would go on to win the moto, with Mike Alessi in second, and Grant Langston in third. Both Alessi and Langston put in great rides that day. Mike held of Windham for almost the entire moto, and Grant battled strong with Tim Ferry and Andrew Short to get the final podium spot. Tim Ferry would have had the third spot...

2007-07-17 02:41:00
Let’s take the road less traveled here and talk about some of the other aspects of motocross, like physical fitness. Everyone in the industry knows how physically demanding our sport is. But if you don’t know that much about motocross, and your not even sure why you found yourself on this little spot on the internet, let me tell you this, motocross is tough! At one time it was ranked as the second most physically demanding sport in the world.Recently Racer X had an old interview up with Jeff Ward about Ricky Carmichael’s fitness. He was saying that the only reason Ricky was getting thrown around on his new 250, like it was a wild bull named “bone crusher” was because he didn’t have enough upper body strength. He suggested that Ricky do like Wardy did some 80 (ok more like 10) years back, and do free weights. Specifically jerks and high weight, small rep type programs. He didn’t think that the running and cycling routines really prepared a motocrossers body to deal with...

James Stewart Sidelined
2007-07-16 00:18:00
Unadilla is one of the oldest motocross tracks in America, and this weekend was the 6th round of the AMA nationals. This also marked the first time in 10 straight years that the one they call G.O.A.T. Ricky Carmichael will not be racing. This would turn the points lead, and overall control of the series to Bubba Stewart , right? Well it would have if James were racing today. But due to a practice crash in the second lap, he is going to be watching from the sidelines this weekend. Racer X reported that James left with back and neck pain, and a possible concussion. That is really too bad considering the only thing keeping James from already having an outdoor championship in the premier class has been RC. And now that Ricky is gone everybody thought it was inevitable that Stewart would get his first national championship. That dream is still very possible for Stewart, as long as he only misses this weekend. But with a possible concussion, that may not be likely. So what does this do for ...
