Gabe Kapler...Met Killer?
2008-04-13 22:12:00
I do miss the days when Gabe Kapler, the scrappy, little guy, played for the Sox.  He was just a hell of a player and fun to watch.  It was great when he returned..until he blew out his knee and all was lost.  But now after retiring and managing for a year, he is back with a vengeance...and he's taking a lot of it out on the Mets of all teams! Gabe Kapler, the newest Milwaukee Brewer, is off to a great start and I'm thrilled for him...just not for the fact that he's destroying Los Mets.  Here's what he's done in this series alone: Game 2: 1 Big 2 run HR...basically the reason while the Brewers won...and he hit it off Johan Santana!  That's a major oy vey. Game 3: 3 for 4, another HR, and 3 important RBI. Thank goodness he didn't play Game 1.... Seriously, on the season alone Kapler is 11/26 with 4 HR and 11 RBI.  To put that in perspective, David Ortiz is 3/43 with 1 HR and 3 RBI.  That's right...Kapler has more HR than...

Sox Atop First 2008 Power Rankings
2008-04-05 02:11:00
Not a shocker here...The defending World Champions, after a 3-1 start are on top of the first 2008 Power Rankings of the year.  The Mets are still in the top 5, despite the potentially devastating injury to Pedro.  The Skanks unfortunately come in at 4th, after taking 2 out of 3 from the #12 Blue Jays.  The Braves and Phils are 8th and 9th respectively, and the Orioles are the first goat of the year, ranked as last. #1#2#3#4#5 The Tigers are now 0-4 to start the season and are already dealing with injury problems.  Desptie the hype over the offense, I don't think they will be able to outlast the Indians for the AL Central.  Hopefully the injury to Martinez will not affect the team too negatively.  Santana, Perez, and Maine still are a very good 1-2-3.  Only time will tell how it affects them. 2007 Year In Review: October Red Sox-ALDS
2008-03-17 20:26:00
As we move deeper into the offseason, I will be recalling month by month the 2007 season of the World Champion Boston Red Sox.         ;      &nbs p;      &nb sp;      &n bsp;    AMERICAN LEAGUE DIVISION SERIES- BOSTON RED SOX VS. LOS ANGELES ANGELS. GAME ONE: The Sox started off the playoffs with a bang.  Josh Beckett was phenominal in his first playoff start with Boston.  Beckett threw a complete game shutout, allowing just 4 hits and striking out 8.  YOOOUK got the offense started, with a HR in the bottom of the 1st.  Ortiz added a 2 run HR later on, and Lowell added in another RBI, which was plenty of enough for Beckett.  Sox were dominant and headed into Game 2 with a fully rested bullpen and a 1-0 lead. GAME TWO: Game 2 was arguably the most exciting game of the postseason.  A back and forth affair came down to one...

2007 Year In Review: September Red Sox
2008-03-08 05:13:00
As we move deeper into the offseason, I will be recalling month by month the 2007 season of the World Champion Boston Red Sox.         ;      &nbs p;      &nb sp;      &n bsp;    SEPTEMBER After losing 4 in a row to end August, Red Sox Nation was very nervous for the start of baseball's final month.  But the Sox gave exactly what the fans ordered, a fast start-one included with unexpected history... PERFORMANCE OF THE MONTH Some young minor league dude named Clay Buchholz was set to pitch his 2nd career major league start and certainly no one expected to see history on that night.  Buchholz went on to throw the 17th no-hitter in Red Sox history.  It was an unbelievable night and a great moment that will never be forgotten.  This kid instantly rose to fame and the Sox got 10 times the energy boost they needed. The Sox went on...

McNamee vs. Clemens
2008-02-15 19:45:00
After hours of testimony, a few things were clear.  The Republicans love Clemens , and Clemens is a big fat liar.  Here's some more thoughts of mine: McNamee:  Why is it so damn hard for the Republicans to understand that McNamee lied a few times?  Everyone involved in the Steroid Era lied...the owners, managers, coaches, players...EVERYONE!  Is it any shock that he didn't want to put himself in trouble @ the time?  Is it any shock he protected his good friend Roger Clemens?  Give me a break.  The lying in the past has nothing to do with his current testimony.  He didn't want to hurt Clemens, but Clemens started a war and he had no other choice.  McNamee appeared honest and I believe he told the truth, and yet the Republicans attacked him.  Ridiculous...what a terrible job they did.  Great job by Democrat Henry Waxman to apologize for some of his fellow committee members.  This should have not turned into a party war...

2007 Year In Review: July & August Red Sox
2008-02-10 04:14:00
As we move deeper into the offseason, I will be recalling month by month the 2007 season of the World Champion Boston Red Sox.         ;      &nbs p;      &nb sp;      &n bsp;    JULY Although the Sox were coming off their worst month of the year in June (13-14), they were still well in control of the AL East entering July .  But, the Sox continued to play sub-par as they reached the "dog days of Summer." After losing the first game in July to Texas, the Sox bounced back with 4 in a row, including a sweep over Tampa Bay, in their first meeting of the year.  However, they were swept in a 3 game set @ Detroit to end the 1st half of the year.  The Sox entered the all star break with a solid 9.5 game lead in the AL East, but the Yanks were back @ .500 and that was not a good sign.  After starting the second half with a 3-5 r...

Poll: What's Your Favorite Anti-Yankee Moment?
2008-02-06 21:52:00
Please vote in my new poll in the top left corner of this site, for your favorite Anti -Yankee Moment of all-time. All choices are great.  The one that jumps out to me, is obviously the 04 Collapse.  But 2001 was great as well, ending a dynastry.  The brawls were fun, and who could forget the wimpy slap in Game 6 of the ALCS by the biggest and richest baby in baseball.  If you have any more moments not mentioned, feel free to post them in the comments section.  I may have forgotten a few great moments and if so, I apologize.  Enjoy remembering these great moments in Anti-Yankee history.

2008 Mets Preview: Potential Lineup & Starting Rotation
2008-02-02 05:23:00
After the aquisition of some guy named Johan Santana, the Mets have become NL favorites.  Why?  Because they have an AL lineup and now one of the best rotations in baseball.  Here's a preview of what should be a hell of an '08 squad.  Met fans...please enjoy: POTENTIAL LINEUP Reyes Castillo Beltran Wright Delgado Alou Church Schneider This may be editied obviously, but it looks pretty damn good.  Reyes and Wright are statistically 2 of the best players in the game.  And Beltran aint bad himself.  Don't forget Santana loves to hit...so watch out in the 9 spot every 5th day. POTENTIAL STARTING ROTATION Johan Santana Pedro Martinez Oliver Perez John Maine Orlando Hernandez/Mike Pelfrey I'd say this looks pretty damn good.  A 2-time cy young winner at the top.  A proven veteran behind him.  2 15 game winners with ERAs under 4 last season follow and then a decent 5th spot. Combine the lineup and the starting rotation with an above av...

Johan Santana Is Coming To Town
2008-02-02 05:14:00
Santana coming to the Mets?  That's way too good to be true.  Has it really happened?  This has not settled in yet.  The Mets simply filled up their one true weakness with the best pitcher in baseball-who's still in his prime.  This is one of the best moves the Mets have ever made and Santana is worth every penny of the 150 million plus he'll make in 7 years.  The Mets have become clear favorites in the NL all of the sudden and are 2nd in early Las Vegas odds of winning the World Series.  Again, too good to be true!  The Mets needed him and they got him.  I'm thrilled the negotiations are over and I can't wait to the Press conference, assuming he passes his physical next week.  The Mets stole Santana, giving up main parts of a mediocre farm system.  They kept their 2 top prospects-Martinez and Pelfrey.  Huge victory for Omar, who just saved his jobs for a few years.  Can't wait till Opening Day!

Santana Drama: Will It Ever End?
2008-01-17 20:41:00
I don't know about the rest of you, but for me the Santana Drama is driving me nuts.  I've heard rumor after rumor and hopefully it will all end soon. METS: The Mets have gone from completely out of the Santana Race a month or so ago to the favorites.  How the heck did that happen?  It appears the Mets are willing to part with a major assortment of prospects.  If this is true, it doesn't bother me.  The way I look at it, the farm system is already in a poor state.  Why not start over?  Mets don't have to trade everything for him and its JOHAN SANTANA.  Santana is the guy the Mets NEED to put them over the top.  Omar needs to make this move and he knows it.  And yet, I'll believe this possiblity when I see it.  Santana in a Met uniform is too good to be true. SOX: @ The Winter Meetings, the Sox were apparently "close," to acquiring Santana.  I've learned to not pay much attention to any more Winter Meetings rumors aft...

2007 Year In Review: June Red Sox
2008-01-02 21:04:00
As we move deeper into the offseason, I will be recalling month by month the 2007 season of the World Champion Boston Red Sox.         ;      &nbs p;      &nb sp;      &n bsp;    JUNE Entering June , the Sox were on top of the baseball world and had a 10 game lead in the AL East, while the Yanks were 7 games under .500.  However, after a brilliant 2 months of baseball, the Sox began to struggle a little and their enemies from New York slowly began to turn their season around. The month started off poorly for the Sox as they hosted the Yanks for a 3 game series.  After splitting the first 2, the Yanks had a turning point of sorts in the rubber game, stunning the sold out Fenway crowd.  After coming back from a 4-0 deficit, the Sox eventually found themselves in a 6-6 tie, heading for extra innings.  However, with 2 out in the 9th Ar...

So Was It Roid Rage?
2007-12-20 20:51:00
Years have gone by and I still wonder why in the world would Roger Clemens throw that bat @ Mike Piazza in game 2 of the 2000 World Series?  It made no sense, yet it was clearly intentional.  So, now, we may have an answer: Roid Rage Does it shock me that such a sweet guy would cheat...not @ all.  Roger tryin to get a competative advantage?  No way.  Looks like the Sox were right when they predicted his best years were behind him and decided to get rid of em.  Is it now any wonder that Clemens has still been able to throw effectively in his mid 40s?  Clemens denies the reports that he took steroids, but what a shock-he did it through a statement.  If he really didn't do it why didn't he sue already, why didn't he start a media war, why didn't he speak to America in his own voice on TV, and why did he never speak to George Mitchell when asked?  Clemens career is tainted and I wonder what Clemens lovers like Suzy Waldman now think of th...

Mets and Sox Fighting for Santana
2007-12-11 21:36:00
It is very interesting and exciting that the Mets and the Red Sox both want Twins SP Johan Santana and are willing to pay up.  Apparently, the Sox are still the favorites in the Santana race.  But, there's no doubt about the fact that the Mets NEED Santana and that they desperately want him.  The problem is they just dont have enough to get the all-star. SOX: If the Red Sox were to get Santana it would make them amazing and one of the greatest teams on paper ever...but ultimately is it worth it?  This question has to be raised.  You might be saying, well who the heck would be stupid enough not to want the best pitcher in baseball?  But look @ it this way.  The Sox would have to sign Santana for a ton of $.  Combine that with a future raise for Beckett and the Sox top 2 starters alone would take up a ton of payroll.  Then you look even further down the future and what do you see?  Even if you take out the 2 possible p...

2007 Year In Review: May Red Sox
2007-12-01 20:16:00
As we move deeper into the offseason, I will be recalling month by month the 2007 season of the World Champion Boston Red Sox.         ;      &nbs p;      &nb sp;      &n bsp;    MAY Entering May, the Sox were red hot, in 1st place of the AL East by 3.5 games and 6.5 up on the Yanks who stood in last.  May was a month where the Sox had some tough tests, facing all 3 future playoff teams of 2007.  The Sox proved April wasn't just a lucky start. The Sox won 4/6 against Oakland, Seattle, and Minnesota to start off the month before sweeping Toronto on the road.  Beckett won his 2 first starts of May, bringing his record to a ridiculous 7-0.  The Sox returned home to face the Orioles.  The Sox split the first 2, setting up a rubber game on Mothers day: GAME OF THE MONTH: In what has been named the "Mothers Day Miracle,"...

2007 Year In Review: April Red Sox
2007-11-23 22:21:00
As we move deeper into the offseason, I will be recalling month by month the 2007 season of the World Champion Boston Red Sox.         ;      &nbs p;      &nb sp;      &n bsp;    APRIL Entering the 2007 season, the Red Sox were trying to avenge a disappointing 2006 campaign, in which they missed the playoffs altogether and finished in 3rd place.  Many picked the Sox to win the division, but the majority still believed the Yanks were a better team.  Take a look at this ESPN RED SOX PREVIEW.  Pay special attention to that pick by Steve Phillips.  ESPN also predicted that some guys named Clay Buchholz and Jacoby Ellsbury would be prospects to watch in the season. Once the season got underway, it was time to see if the Red Sox could be talented enough to make another World Series Run.  Curt Schilling lost to $55 million man Gil M...

Thanksgiving: The Things I am Thankful For
2007-11-21 22:50:00
Haven't posted in a while but plenty of things have happened over the past week that I am very thankful for.  Here they are:         ;      &nbs p;      &nb sp;      &n bsp;      & nbsp;    Bonds Indicted:  This is GOOD for baseball.  Everyone says this is bad, but this is a big step in learning about the past and moving on.  Baseball must rid the game of steroids and who better than Barry Bonds?  We all knew Bonds took steroids and he should pay for it.  This is even better because Bonds will probably never play again.  Unfortunately, this should've happened earlier.  Then he'd never have his tainted record. A-Rod is Back!:  This is also very GOOD news!  10 more years of A-Rod = 10 more years of no titles for the skanks.  He's not a team player, has a huge ego, a...

The Rumor Mill: November 10
2007-11-10 19:49:00
As the Hot Stove gets underway, there are plenty of rumors floating around baseball.  Here's a look at the hottest rumors on this 2nd Saturday of November . The Mets and Yankees could be the front-runners for Twins SP Johan Santana.  These 2 huge NY markets could be going head to head for the best pitcher in baseball.  The Twins will probably want a top prospect and a top OF.  Many GM's have the feeling that Santana will definitely be moved. The Red Sox have reportedly offered Mike Lowell a 3 year deal for about $12 million.  Lowell appears to be mulling over this deal and many believe he will accept it, although he might be looking for a 4th year. The Texas Rangers have a lot of interest in CF Torri Hunter, but will not be willing to give him a ton of money.  They might want to go a cheaper route, looking at Aaron Rowand or Mike Cameron. The Yanks may make a strong move for Miguel Tejada.  The O's would probably trade their SS for a top OF prosp...

AROD STAY AWAY!!!
2007-11-01 20:45:00
After Arod opted out right in the middle of the Red Sox clinching victory, the rumors began to swirl on where the heck he'd end up.  Two of those possibilities?  The Red Sox and the Mets.  As a fan of both, I say PLEASE STAY AWAY! First off, let me say how rude and terrible the timing of his announcement was.  Whether it was his faults or Boris, ARod has a plan to get as much publicity as possible and have his ego screaming out to America once again.  Once again, Arod proved how much of a jerk he was and how he believes he's bigger than the game.  This was a night for the Red Sox, the Rockies, and Baseball.  This was a night where the Red Sox players, none as talented as Arod, all experienced a title, something Arod has never done.  I believe he will never get one, because of his chemistry problems he brings to the table.  He has a huge ego and psychological issues in big clutch moments like the playoffs.  I am so glad Arod never ...

WORLD SERIES: SOX VS. ROX
2007-10-24 20:38:00
For a rare time, I was actually right about something.  The Sox did comeback from down 3 games to 1 to defeat the Cleveland Indians in the 2007 ALCS.  It was an unbelievable team and I have been thrilled to watch them all year.  Beckett came through again in game 5 and the offense exploded at Fenway.  Sox got it done and they have reached their 2nd world series in 4 years.  An AL Title is great, but obviously the Sox still have one more job to do and that's to win the World Serie s against the red hot Colorado Rockies. VS OK, so my NL pick was completely wrong in the World Series .  In fact, I picked the Rox to get eliminated in the first round.  All they did is sweep both the NLDS and NLCS.  I picked the Cubbies to win the NL pennant, and they got swept themselves in the first round.  But, I did have the Sox here so I'm half right...not all that bad.  Now, hopefully this prediction comes true for all of RED SOX NATION!!!!! The Ro...

Red Sox Will Come Back!
2007-10-17 21:47:00
For someone who has been pretty negative all year, for some reason I am still extremely confident. This team is too good to go down like this. THE SOX WILL WIN THIS SERIES! Think about it. Not only did the Sox comeback from 3-0 in the 2004 ALCS, but they got things lined up here like they did there, but better. First, this day off helps because it helps take a way a little momentum from Cleveland and the Sox get to rest their heavily used bullpen. Beckett goes in Game 5, and you have to feel confident with him on the mound?it feels like a definite win when hes out there. Sabathia, and Carmona for that matter were hit hard, and it seems like the Sox handle flamethrowers better than those slower guys. I think their offense will wake up again these next 2 nights. Schilling is still a guy you want in a huge game. Look at his career in elimination games. We all remember game 6 in 2004. Unlike 2004, we got games 6 and 7 at home. Just get it back to Fenway! Schilling will win game 6 and th...

Top 27 Reasons Why Yankees Loss Is Even Better Than You Thought
2007-10-09 21:18:00
I present the top 27 reasons why the Yankees loss in the 2007 playoffs is even better then advertized in no particular order. 1. Doug Mientkiewicz will not be able to steal the 2007 World Series ball. 2. Derek Jeter can't show off his 5th World Series ring to every woman he ever meets. 3. We don't get to see 77 clips a game of Jeter's parents watching in the stands. 4. Alex Rodriguez can't meet up with his mistress in any more road trips. 5. No more Johnny Damon interviews. 6. No more Johnny Damon inspirational speeches. 7. No more postgame steroid injections for Jason Giambi. 8. Roger Clemens won't be able to throw a bat at anyone in another World Series. 9. Roger Clemens won't have to walk off the mound again at Yankee Stadium "for the last time." 10. We don't have to see Joba's dad crying in the stands again.

ALDS Recap: Sox Sweep, Yanks Lose Again
2007-10-09 20:46:00
What a great ALDS it was this past week, as the Sox advanced to the ALCS and the Yanks went down in 4 games to the Indians, for their 3rd straight 1st round defeat.  Here's a recap: SOX: You gotta be thrilled with this series as the Sox flat out dominated the Angels.  In game 1, Beckett was amazing.  4 singles and 0 walks in a CG shutout.  What better can u ask for?  BRILLIANT.  Beckett already has 3 CG in his young career.  Hopefully he can continue it in the ALCS, as the Sox will need him against Carmona and Sabathia.  In game 2, the Angels once again just couldn't find a way to beat the Sox.  Dice-K struggled a little bit, but minimized the damage and the Sox bullpen held off the Angels the rest of the game.  It's hard to believe that Manny  has NEVER hit a walkoff HR for the Sox.  But what better time than the playoffs?  He crushed a 3-run HR off K-Rod that still hasn't fallen to Earth.  That HR was c...

Playoff Predictions
2007-10-02 22:26:00
Here are my 2007 predictions for the playoffs.  VS   Cubs will come out playing very exciting baseball and will roll all over the Dbacks.  Zambrano will pitch better than Webb and the Cubbies will clinch this series in game 4 @ Wrigley.  VS This is one of the most exciting playoff matchups in recent history.  As much as I hate to see the Mets not there, the Phils and Rocks are both red hot and have a ton of offense.  The Phils will ultimately outslug the Rocks and cool them down.  This series will go to 5 games, with the past MVP, current MVP, and future MVP coming through for the Phils in a nice win.  VS As much as I'm scared to death of the Skanks, I have a feeling that Cleveland will come out on top.  The Yanks won all 6 against the Indians this year, but they didn't face C.C. Sabathia.  The combo of Sabathia and Carmona will make the Indians really dangerous and will shut down the Yanks powerful offense...

Mets: The Team, The Time, The Collapse
2007-10-02 22:06:00
There are little words to describe this awful collapse of the 2007 New York Mets .  The bottom line is ultimately they showed little heart in the end and came up short...1 damn game short.  It was the biggest collapse of all time and the entire Met organization should be embarassed, because I sure am.  I blame it on EVERYONE.  Omar made some terrible decisions and had way too much confidence in many mediocre players.  Willie was way too stoic and didn't motivate his players enough.  He can however still "sip some champagne," because the Mets are bringing him back.  I don't disagree with the decision but he should have a short leash.  Many of the players were awful and many have to go.  I'm not sure we'll ever see Delgado who struggled all year back.  The 2B situation is an interesting one.  There are rumors of Reyes and more for Santana.  I don't necessarily agree with that move, because I still have a warm place in my ...

The Final Week

Free Fallin'
2007-09-18 20:48:00
The Tom Petty classic "Free Fallin," has become extremely popular with me lately.  Why?  Because my beloved Mets and Red Sox are doing just that.  A few weeks ago it seemed like the Mets and Sox would clinch early, roll into the playoffs, and give you hope for a title run.  Now, I am on the verge of near PANIC with both teams. METS: The Mets magic number entering Friday was 11.  The Mets magic number today is 11.  In other words, THEY HAVEN'T MADE ANY PROGRESS!!!  They cannot beat the Phillies at all.  The Phils find every way to win.  8 straight the Phils have won against the Mets. 8!!!!!!!  The Mets just got swept at home!  Then the Mets go and blow a 4-0 lead to the NATIONALS and the Phils nearly blow an 11 run lead and still win.  Now they're all of the sudden just 2.5 GB!!!!  If the Mets, blow this which is a possibility, there's may be NO PLAYOFFS!  How would that feel?  The Mets have ...
