A Change of Plans (& Perhaps Some New Strategies Too!)
2007-09-13 05:18:00 I've decided not to run tonight & to instead double up my runs tomorrow (once again!), since my first workout tomorrow will be much lighter (i.e., only 8 minutes total time of running). That way, I'll be nice & warmed up for my longer (28 minute) run. Plus, it's just way too late to run & at this early stage, I'm not quite sure it's a good thing to be running 5 days a week. My body (or more specifically, my joints!) just might not be ready to handle that sort of pounding just yet. (After all, who am I kidding?! It takes a while to achieve this level of conditioning.....)So, it looks like I might just double up on my CT5K runs on Tuesday & Thursday (Week 1 with my friend, Week 8 on my own), & then just do either a Saturday or Sunday workout. The only thing I'm worried about is my knees, which were a tad bit sore yesterday, for the very first time in a very long time, probably since before I started the CT5K workouts. The extra time spent pounding the pavement, howe... More About: Change , Strategies , Plans , Chang , Chan

Book Review #1: Two Classics of Running Literature - An Old Favorite &
2007-09-12 09:57:00 Hello again, readers,This will be my last post of the evening (er, morning!).I'd like to recommend two books, one of which is a timeless classic, and has become like an old friend to me throughout the years, and another that's sure to become one of the newer classics:(1) Running & Being: The Total Experience - by Dr. George Sheehan(2) Chi Running: A Revolutionary Approach to Effortless, Injury-Free Running - by Danny DreyerLet me start with the first book: Running & Being: The Total Experience is both a philosophical treatise on running, and a practical how-to guide on running. This is the book to pick up when you want to get inspired to run. Much of the book focuses on the inner reasons for why the author ran, and how running had personally affected his life. I use past tense verbs like "ran" and "had... affected" because George Sheenan passed away in 1993. In addition to writing several books, he also wrote for Runner's World magazine for several years. He was ... More About: Literature , Classics , Book Review , Review
Thank You, Loyal Readers!
More articles from this author:2007-09-12 09:31:00 Hello Everyone,I just wanted to say thank you so much for all of your wonderful comments on this blog (as well as on my other 5 blogs)! I really do appreciate the fact that you took the time to comment & share your thoughts with me, and will try as much as humanly possible to respond to as many comments as I possibly can.I sometimes wonder if I should be writing so many blogs, as I barely have enough time as is. For some people, running three businesses (i.e., Wildfire Designs, Ferlanti Couture, Ladybug Tea Company) would be enough to send them running to the funny farm! ;-)Although I'm usually pretty good about responding to people in general, I am only human, and there are going to be some days when I'm frankly a bit overwhelmed by the information overload & can't process it as quickly as I'd like. Since there are more of you than there are of me, it can sometimes be quite a challenge to respond to the influx of comments & emails. So please bear with me if I don't resp...
