MMA Gear Friday: Tuff Boxing T-Shirt and Tank Top

Don’t hate because we’ve got the coolest Muay Thai graphic designs on our chest! For our 1st weekly (hopefully weekly) MMA Fight Girls “MMA Gear Friday ”, TUFF Boxing / Muay Thai Stuff was awesome enough to send us a Muay Thai T-Shirt and Tank Top all the way from Bangkok Thailand! I want to give a big thanks to TUFF and Muay Thai Stuff for their love and support. On to my story… Excited as all hell I picked up the TUFF package the other day at the post office. Upon opening the package, my first thought was… “top notch”. TUFF packages each of their T-shirts in a unique black and clear muay thai illustration package (pictured below, but the picture doesn’t do it any justice), along with a TUFF Boxing catalog.  The packages each have their own unique illustration printed on them and are quite classy. MMA Fight Girls has started a new concept that we hope we can maintain each week - MMA Gear Friday . Each Friday, we plan to review some free MMA Gear that companies throw our way. Whether it be Shorts/Trunks (Boxing, Muay Thai, Grappling, BJJ, whatever…), Gloves (Boxing, Muay Thai), Pads (Shin Pads, Thai Pads, Focus Mits), Wraps, Bags (Heavy Bags, Speed Bags…) T-Shirts, Tank Tops, Hoodies, Magazines, Books, Supplements, Mouth Pieces or something unmentioned, we’d love to review it and get the word out there. Tito Ortiz and Jenna Jameson Discuss the Apprentice TV Show

Jenna Jameson talks about how well Tito Ortiz did on the Apprentice show. She states that he’s such a businessman, however most people don’t realize it until they watch the show. Tito states that he introduced hanging a banner in the cage (behind the fighter) during a UFC event, he states that he’s made a lot of history and continues to do it. Regarding the Don, Tito was asked to say something about Donald Trump that most people don’t know. Jenna’s response, his hair is real. Joe Stevenson Training for BJ Penn UFC 80 Fight, Video

Raw Vegas recently interviewed Joe Stevenson at the Cobra Kai gym in Vegas regarding his upcoming UFC 80 title fight against BJ Penn . Joe was asked how he feels about this title shot. He states that’s his dream since he started watching the sport at age 11. Raw Vegas show some training action with Coach Marc Laimon. Joe was working heavily on his ground game in the footage. Considering that Joe is fighting an exceptional ground fighter, this would make a lot of sense for his training regime. You can see the Joe Stevenson training for UFC 80 BJ Penn fight video below.

American Idol Kickboxer Kristy Lee Cook’s Interview Video

Yesterday we wrote an article about American Idol contestant Kristy Lee Cook, who was profiled as a Kickboxer and a cage fighter trainee. We mentioned that in her interview video, Kristy showed off some of her MMA skills including some kicking drills and an arm bar. We found this video of her interview on youtube. Kristy does a judo throw into an armbar and a few more mma routines that we didn’t pick up on at first. I know that most of you are closet American Idol watchers, so pretend to see this video for the first time if your friends are around.

On tonight’s episode of American Idol Season 7, viewers were introduced to 23 year old Kristy Lee Cook from Oregon.  Kristy stated that she’s a kickboxer and is training for cage fighting.  Idol brought the cameras inside Kristy’s Martial arts school where we saw some BJJ - she performs an armbar on one of her training partners and some kickboxing drills.  Hey folks, MMA is really in the spotlight these days. Here are some pictures of Kristy for those of you who don’t remember who she is or didn’t see the episode.  She made it to the second round, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Gina Carano Will Not Be Fighting February 16th!

We recently announced EliteXC’s February 16th Street Certified Card and how outstanding it was to have Kimbo Slice, Tank Abbott, Scott Smith, James Thompson and Gina Carano all on one card.  Well, we’re sad to inform you that we just heard that Gina Carano will not be fighting at EliteXC this February.  he reason for this is unknown, some speculate that Carano and EliteXC’s relationship was dampened when she began working with NBC’s American Gladiator. Tank Abbott Talking Smack About Kimbo Slice

Tank Abbott is soon to face off with Kimbo Slice at EliteXC’s on February 16th 2008.  This fight has been brewing for quite some time now.  Originally the two were set to fight at Cage Fury on October 12th 2007.  However, after investors pulled out of Cage Fury, the event and thus the Tank vs Kimbo fight was canceled.   So, now they’re ready to face off, Kimbo’s training hard, and Tank’s talking some trash smashed in a bar.  Check out this video.  Not sure when it was shot. UFC 80 Rapid Fire MMA Girls Prediction Video

The MMA girls give their predictions on UFC 80 Rapid Fire . The first Prediction is BJ Penn vs. Joe Stevenson, although Joe is an underdog which she loves to pick, she’s going to go with BJ, because… well, because she didn’t say. The next Gabriel Gonzaga vs Fabricio Werdum. She gives the fight to Gabriel because of his excellent stand up. Marcus Davis vs Jess Liaudin - Marcus’ ground stills are catching up with his boxing skills and had an excellent last fight, so she’s going with Marcus. Alright.. that’s it for me, there’s some more predictions from the MMA Girls , you’ll have to watch it to see it… there’s a nice little Wanderlei death chop at the end.

Extreme Fighting Challenge 5 had an event called Revolution back in November of 2007. The event took place at the CN Centre in Prince George, British Columbia Canada. Although there were a number of great fights for the night, including Kajan Johnson vs Dave Pariseau, Matt Leo defeating Jordan Bills, David Balzer defeating Joel Liddacoat and John Balzer submitting Chris Puleo. The event is scheduled to air on Showtime cable at 10:00PM ET. In addition to Kimbo and Tank being the main event, Gina Carano will fight an unannounced fighter, Kyle Noke will take on hard hitting The Ultimate Fight er Television show star Scott Smith (remember, the guy who dropped Pete sell after taking a hard hit to the abs?). According to NBCSports.com, Matt Serra and Georges St. Pierre will headline UFC 83 on April 19th 2008 at Montreal ’s Bell Centre for the welterweight title.  Serra confirmed to NBC Sports that he will be fighting Georges.  Here’s what NBCSports.com had to say: “The Long Island native told NBCSports.com’s John Moody that his back has been rapidly improving and is excited about defending the championship, albeit in St. Pierre’s hometown. The New American Gladiators Gina Carano Crush Video

ESPN’s Sam Alipour went on the set of NBC’s new The American Gladiators and took on many of the challenges. Sam was a good sport throughout, and made humor of his disadvantages against the pros. Sam went up against “Crush ”, Gina Carano in the joust event, which happens to be her strong point. Sam gets the crap smacked out of him. I don’t think he even landed on shot one her, well maybe one low blow, but that’s it. And then.. She delivers a spinning back joust and hits him right in the face.. How awesome. But we also see Gina Using some BJJ in the pyramid event to take her opponent down. Sam takes on “Justice” in the pyramid event and barely makes it up the first pyramid block on his own!
