Former Chicago Fire Goalkeeper Completes Move To QPR
2008-02-09 04:38:00 Well one of my favorite Chicago Fire players will now suit up for one of the clubs I truly despise. All-Star Goalkeeper Matt Pickens has finalized his transfer to Queens Park Rangers. He will remain with the club until the end of the season but hopes to remain with the squad beyond that point. “I ... More About: Soccer , Move , Chicago Fire
USA Sevens: *Update* Setanta To Offer Day 1 Coverage
2008-02-08 20:01:00 Good news for those of you who had planned on following the USA Sevens Day 1 coverage online. If you subscribe to Setanta Sports, you will not only get over 8 hours of live Day 2 broadcasting, but Setanta has announced 2 hours of live broadcasting on Day 1. I’m pretty happy to hear this. I was going to listen to the matches online but now I can watch it, which of course is much better. I mean hell, this isn’t 1928. The coverage will include USA’s matches versus England & Mexico. Perfect. I feel the U.S. will lose to South Africa anyways so no biggie if I miss that one. By the way, I’m not going to provide “Live Blogging” this weekend because part of the trade off for watching so much rugby this weekend is to allow my wife to dink around online. I will post a recap Saturday & Sunday night. GO EAGLES! More About: Update , Coverage , Offer
So, What Do I Think About The “Premiership” Heading Abroad?
2008-02-08 18:54:00 I think its a great idea…period. The same people who live in the U.S. (and you know that at least 1 U.S. city would get picked if this happens) bitching about this being a “bad move” would be the first fuckers in line to buy tickets. I would respect those who boycotted the matches out of principle but I know for a fact that if Fulham played a match in say…Chicago…some of the same Fulham supporters bitching about this “39th game” would be the first ones in line all decked out in White and eager to cheer the lads to victory. Give me a break. This is a great money making move and all the clubs should be behind this and the English supporters should stop bitching and just accept this. So you miss out on one match, big fucking deal. You won’t bitch when the added revenue adds seats to your stadium or allows you to sign that big star you previously couldn’t sign. It’s win/win. Get over it. If it happens, it happens. If you do... More About: Premiership , Heading
Another Big Rugby Weekend
2008-02-08 04:23:00 Well it’s another big rugby weekend for yours truly, especially seeing as how the Fulham/Middlesbrough match will not be televised in the United States. That sucks but that is the beauty of having a blog that covers two different sports. For me, the highlight of the weekend is the USA Sevens tournament on Saturday & Sunday, but before we get to my personal “main event”, let me break down other great rugby matches on U.S. television (and internet) this weekend. Friday Warrington vs Hull-Super League-2:25 pm ET (Setanta Sports & ESPN360.com) I’m not a huge fan of Rugby League (for those living in the U.S., I’ll post the difference between Rugby League & Rugby Union some day) but when you are bored at work and have access to ESPN360.com, it’s not a bad way to kill the final 2 hours of work. The Super League season started last week and this will be the first match I will watch this season. I don’t care who wins because again, I&rsqu... More About: Weekend

USA Sevens: Takudzwa Ngwenya To Join Squad In San Diego
2008-02-07 06:06:00 Great news for the USA Eagles a head of the USA Sevens Tournament this weekend in San Diego . USA superstar winger Takudzwa Ngwenya has been granted permission from his club (Biarritz) to join the Eagles this weekend. This will provide a huge boost for the Eagles. The speedster is best known for schooling Bryan Habana at the 2007 Rugby World Cup and scored a couple of key tries at the South Africa Sevens back in December, which was a key to the U.S. advancing to the quarterfinals in that tournament. Takudzwa felt it was important to be part of the biggest international rugby event to be held on U.S. soil. “I wanted to be here because it’s our home event and we’re trying to show the American public that rugby’s a good sport and we want to do that here at home,” said Ngwenya. “We have a good shot, a good team so our goal is to beat South Africa, beat England [in the pools on day one], get some points, reach the Cup quarterfinals and see what happens... USA & Mexico Fight To A 2-2 Draw
2008-02-07 05:33:00 Mexico defender Johnny Magallón scored his second goal of the match early in the 2nd half to tie things up at 2-2 and that is how it would end. Mexico outplayed the U.S. for the most part but there were some bright spots. Tim Howard, despite giving up 2 set piece goals, played an outstanding match. You can’t really blame him for those goals as our defense was lousy. In fact with the exception of Carlos Bocanegra, our defense sucked most of the night. We must improve on that prior to the upcoming friendlies versus Poland and Span. Jozy Altidore was my MVP tonight. He not only scored off a very impressive header in the first half, but he played very well for the entire 90 minutes. This upcoming season may very well be his last in Major League Soccer. He will return to the U-23 team in March as that squad will attempt to qualify for the 2008 Olympics. Landon Donovan wasn’t a factor in the second half and that should please the Donovan haters online. Clint Dempsey looked ti... More About: Mexico , Fight , Draw
Halftime: USA-2 Mexico-1
2008-02-07 04:27:00 Just as exciting as advertised. The United States lead Mexico at the half 2-1. Mexico basically dominated the first half and Tim Howard pretty much kept us in the game with some fantastic saves. The U.S. would get on the board first in the 30th minute when Landon Donovan found defender Oguchi Onyewu after a throw and “Gooch” headed one off the right post and in. Mexico would pull even. Mexico would pull even 6 minutes later off a set piece and Mexico’s Magallon would find the top left corner from close range. In the 41st minute, Drew Moor would find 18 year old Jozy Altidore and the kid would score his first senior National Team goal to put the U.S. back up 2-1. Mexico dominated possession and frankly the pace of the match, but the U.S. played well enough in spots to take the halftime lead. In reality, the U.S. should be up 3-1. In the 42nd minute, right after Jozy’s goal, Fulham’s Clint Dempsey clearly scored and for some reason, he was called offside....
It’s Nearly Game Time
2008-02-07 02:50:00 It’s nearly game time. The excitement has been building in me all day long and now we are only a matter of minutes away from The Border War. Again a reminder, you can watch the match LIVE on ESPN2, Univision or ESPN360.com (if your ISP is an approved provider). If you for some reason you are poor and can’t afford cable or high speed internet, head on over the USSoccer.com and follow the game via their Match Tracker system. Not sure why you are even on the internet if you are poor, get your priorities straight! I will be back at halftime to give my quick halftime thoughts. GOOD LUCK YANKS! BEAT MEXICO!!! FINALLY!!! Thank You Jimmy!!!
2008-02-03 19:27:00 All I have to say is “THANK YOU JIMMY!” Bullard scored the game winner in the 86th minute as Fulham wins their first match since November 2-1 over Aston Villa at the Cottage. Bullard fired off a bender that found the back of the net from about 25 yards out. I literally jumped from my couch ... More About: Soccer , Jimmy , Finally , English Premier League
Fulham vs Villa: Halftime Thoughts
2008-02-03 18:00:00 Well at kick off, the score was 0-0. Forty five minutes later, the score remains 0-0. For the most part, Fulham played pretty well in the first half. We had great attacking opportunities and a couple chances at goal. Second half pace has been an issue all season, so we’ll see if we can step ...
