Kingfish Season!

It’s just around the corner, but not here yet. Kingfish season begins next month, but anglers fishing offshore wrecks should start seeing some kings show on wrecks and reefs that are holding bait.

Tips that might help you catch more.
2007-09-16 03:22:00
Leader material, length, and diameter all play a part in concealing your rig from a wary fish. Fluorocarbon leaders are nearly invisible, so diameter is not the reason for going up or down in pound test. However, the material is somewhat stiff compared to monofilament. The larger the diameter or pound test you use, the more your baits will lose their ability to swim naturally due to the stiffness. Loop knots help, but the right pound test for the structure you’re fishing around and the fish you seek will give you the greatest performance and ultimately help you catch more fish.Good luck!

Fishing for Redfish?
2007-09-16 03:21:00
Redfish continue to be on the scene. Good numbers of fish have been on the outer bars this week in Tampa Bay from Christmas Pass north to the power plant in St. Pete. Weedon Island fishing has been good, as has Big Island, to the north. Reds have been active, and with the new moon earlier in the week, snook fishing took an upward spike. Good action around mangrove points, oyster bars just inside passes and around boat docks was reported by anglers from Sarasota and Bradenton. A little slower bite was experienced in Pinellas. Good luck!

Fishing for Trout?
2007-09-16 03:19:00
Some good action on trout in lower Tampa Bay on deep grass and hard bottom was experienced by anglers. At the same time, anglers were jumping some late season tarpon near the Skyway Bridge that weighed from 30-to 100-pounds. Some patches of hard bottom in 10-feet of water, are good places.

Going for Pompano?
2007-09-16 03:10:00
Fishing for Pompano? Then here are some good baits/jigs. Shrimp is always good no matter what your going for.. But the jigs are seeming to work the best. The type you want to look for is small yellow or yellow and white Nylure Jigs and Doc’s Goofy Jigs. Good luck!

Bait Container
2007-09-06 23:11:00
I found that if you use an out-of-water bait bucket then insulated works best, no matter what you want to stay alive.I found a certain bait bucket and purchased it at Sports Authority, and I love it.Its insulated and its got a lining in it to let crabs or shrimp crawl up the wall, which makes them stay alive even longer! Here is the link to this bait bucket. (This is a 4 gallon one they sell bigger ones if you need bigger.) Click HERE for the link.

Here is September 's fishing Calandar.
Just a couple more little tips.

Here are a few more helpful tips.1. Make sure you wash off your rod and reel with fresh water after your done fishing. This helps your rod from rusting. It also helps your reel to stay in good shape.2. If you are fishing at a beach, or somewhere where saltwater is easily accessible, and if you keep your bait bucket out of water be sure to change out your water from time to time. This helps keep what ever you want alive, stay alive.3. If you put Green Backs in an out-of-water bait bucket, make sure they are alive. Because if they die, anything else that is in there will die too. This is because when a Green Back dies it releases a toxin into the water that can kill anything else that is in there. If there is any question you would like answered, please post it and I will get to it a.s.a.pYour questions are important. -Thanks,Alex
