Els & Casey advance in World Matchplay Championship
2007-10-12 02:34:00
Defending champion Paul Casey and six-time winner Ernie Els reached the second round of the World Match Play Champ ionship at Wentworth on Thursday.Top-seed Casey beat Jerry Kelly 3 and 2. Els defeated Colin Montgomerie 6 and 5. U.S. Open champion Angel Cabrera had 11 birdies to beat Retief Goosen 6 and 5."There will be a lot of soul-searching as to why I'm playing well and couldn't produce it today," said Harrington, the British Open champion who bogeyed three of the first five holes. "Losing in the first round is very disappointing because I was thinking of going all the way."Two matches did not finish because of a two-hour fog delay in the morning.http://www.pgatour.com/2007/r/10/ 11/wmp_rd1.ap/index.htmlhttp://www.sumoir ons.comhttp://www.golfgeardirectory.com

Club of the week...My Scotty Cameron putter!
2007-10-07 03:03:00
This weeks "Club of the Week " is my Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless 2.5 putter. I decided to feature one of my own clubs this week mainly because it's the best club I've ever owned....and for me to say that about a putter is unbelievable.I used so many putters of the years I can't even count them all, but I always wanted a Scotty Cameron putter. In my mind, I could never justify spending $300+ on a Scotty Cameron, but one day, on a whim, I found this beauty on Ebay, and it's been a match made in heaven. I went so far as to buy this putter without ever having putted with a Scotty Cameron putter...I was just intrigued by them for the longest time, and luckily...it was a good match.Think about it..we all spend hundreds of bucks on the newest, baddest driver on the market, and we used it a dozen or so times per round...but the idea of spending $300 on a putter seems crazy, even though you'll use your putter 30+ times a round. Ok, so maybe this is how I justify buying an expensi...

Best Southern California Golf Courses
2007-10-04 20:42:00
As most of you know by now, I was born and raised and currently live in Southern Calif ornia , and let me tell you, there's no better place I know of where you can play golf year round, with some of the best golf courses you'll find. I live on a course, and I'm also a member of that club, but it's still my goal to play all the golf courses in Southern California ...well at least a lot of them.I would say that currently, my favorite Southern California golf course would be Torrey Pines. In my eyes, it has to be one of the best public courses in Southern California, and by far the best public course that hosts a PGA Tour event. The views are magnificent. The South Course is extremely challenging, and the price (if you live in SD) is only about $45 for 18 holes. If you are a golfing visitor to the San Diego area, you must try to get on at Torrey Pines. It will be worth the effort, even though tee times can be difficult to come by.Next on my list would be La Costa Resort & Sp...

Fall is here..Time for a Myrtle Beach Golf Vacation
2007-10-02 18:31:00
Even though I live in California, and we have golf year round here, I always look forward to this time of year to take a short golf vacation to Myrtle Beach , South Carolina. I'm sure those of you who live in cooler climates could also use a nice golf vacation to a warmer climate. Not only is the weather in Myrtle Beach still very nice thru October and November, but there are great deals to be had and Myrtle Beach has has the largest number of courses per square mile than anywhere else in the United States. It's a golfers mecca. For those of you golfers out there who have never taken a golf vacation to Myrtle Beach, you don't know what you're missing. There are many great packages available for 3 day stays all the way up to 10 day packages which include golf at some of the premium courses, which are normally in the $150+ dollar range in the peak season. Now I know this sounds like a sales pitch, but I have no affiliation with any of these courses or golf packages, I just wanted t...

The Fall PGA tournaments bore me to tears...someone had to say it!
2007-10-02 07:06:00
It's true...the fall leg of the PGA tour is like watching paint dry. Yeah, I know John Daly is making his third straight appearance in as many weeks at this weeks Valero Texas Open, but unless Big John pulls off a miracle, I don't even think there's a chance for him to get his card back for 2008. The highest ranking player on the money list playing this week is Steven "big teeth" Ames at 42nd. Don't get me wrong, Tiger doesn't have to be playing to keep me interested, but watching J.J. Henry and Justin Leonard battle it out in San Antonio isn't my idea of must watch television. I guess I'm just spoiled from seeing so much good, championship caliber golf at the end of the FedEx Cup matches. So when does the regular season start again?

President's Cup Sunday Tee Times & Pairings

The United States leads the International Team going into Sunday by a score of 14.5 to 7.5.The match to watch today will be Tiger Woods vs. Mike Weir. The player Canadians love vs. their passion. And no, it's not contrived. Weir earned the right to play the best player in the world so it should be a good match. Good for the players. Good for the Cup. Good for Canadians. With Tiger still in top form, I'm not expecting Weir to devastate woods today, but it will at least be a fun match to watch. A win by Woods could clinch the overall win for the United States. A Golf Blog..are you crazy? No one care's about another Golf Blog!
2007-09-29 21:53:00
So it's been about a month now since I started Tour Golf Blog , and I never really introduced myself. My name is Christian (I'm a 7 handicap) and I've built and maintained many websites over the years, but until recently I never had a desire to "blog". I guess I just didn't understand what it was all about. Being a golf obsessed lunatic, I figured what better topic to blog about than...you guessed it, GOLF!!! So I started my own golf blog, Tour Golf Blog.comBefore I started, I had a look at many of the other top golf blogs on the web, and I have to admit, that I was quite intimidated. These other golf blogs had featured writers, tons of good content, comments on every article on the site, interviews with touring pros, etc.etc. Needless to say, being a humble golf guy, I didn't have that kind of firepower, but I decided that I would start writing on Tour Golf Blog just for me, and if anyone else happened to show up, then hey, all the better.Let me tell you, blogging isn't ...

Stop slicing your drives...FOREVER!!
2007-09-25 20:15:00
Are you finally ready to get rid of that nasty slicing banana ball you've been hitting out of bounds for years? Good...because there's no reason you shouldn't be hitting the ball down the middle every time you step up to the tee. Read on and get your drives squared away asap, and start shooting better scores. There are many causes for a slice and many types of slices. We will discuss some basic tips and drills that will help you with just about any slice problem. These tips are from the perspective of a right handed golfer, so if you're a lefty, just reverse everything I've said here, or quit playing from the wrong side of the ball and play righty already!1. Get your club head square: No matter what else you're doing, one thing is a fact, if you're slicing, the club head is not square at impact, and it's causing you to slice the ball. Practice taking 1/2 and 3/4 swings with your driver, concentrating on watching the club head hit the ball with a square face.2. Get...

Club Review: Taylor Made r7 Strong 3 Wood
2007-09-24 21:45:00
I was in desperate need of a new 3 wood for a long time, but wasn't sure what I wanted. I like having something to hit off the tee on narrow holes, but also a 3 metal that's good off the turf. After much deliberation, I picked up a 13* Taylor Made r7 (strong) 3 wood with the stock Fujikura stiff shaft. Now let me say that I don't think this club is for everyone. I'm a 7 handicap and I probably wouldn't recommend it to golfers that aren't at least shooting in the low 80's on a consistent basis. At 13 degrees, it's a little more difficult to hit off the fairway, but man does it take off, with a low, piercing trajectory. The first day I had it on the course, I reached to par 5's that I hardly ever reach in two.Off the tee this 3 wood is very controllable. The 2 degrees less loft than my previous Nike 3 wood kept the ball at a much more manageable trajectory and the distance gain was in the 10 yards neighborhood. I have to say that the stock Fujikura stiff shaft wasn...

The Secret to hitting a driver off the deck!
2007-09-24 20:43:00
Not that any of us have any business trying to hit a driver off the deck, if you want to give it a try, check out this article from Golf Magazine;By Brady RiggsGOLF Magazine Top 100 Teacher Published: October 01, 2007 This story is for you if... • You're a low- to mid-handicap player novices and high-handicappers need not apply• Your fairway wood distance isn't enough to get you on the green in two on par 5s• You're a gambler at heart SituationYou're staring at a par-5 green from the middle of the fairway, but it's 20 yards farther than what you can hit your longest fairway wood. SolutionTake a risk and try the most electrifying shot in golf: driver off the deck. Use the keys shown here: • Aim your body to the left of your target to accommodate a fade ball flight.• Play the ball off your left heel.• Turn your shoulders under your head on your downswing so the club can swing to the left after impact.• Swing your arms left of your body after contac...
