Brandt Snedeker.. 2007 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year?
2007-12-06 18:51:00 2007 will be a year PGA Tour rookie Brandt Snedeker will never forget. Well on his way to winning the Rookie of the Year honor, Brandt amassed over 2.8 million in winnings, along with one PGA tour win, and 5 top ten finishes. The 27 year old Snedeker didn't even get a chance to vote for himself, as he was playing in Japan when the Rookie of the Year ballots came out. "I'm sure I'll be kicking myself later," he said, laughing when asked what he'll do if he loses by one vote. In 29 tournaments, he finished 13 times in the top 25 and made 23 cuts......read moreGreat Deals on Enterprise Car Rental More About: PGA Tour
Bored with practicing, mix up your golf practice sessions with these tips
2007-11-24 03:02:00 Going to the range everyday and pounding balls gets old quickly. Especially if you're doing what 90% of range goers are doing...just beating balls until they're blue in the face. If you're lucky enough to do your practicing on the course then you'll also find that just going out to play for practice can get boring as well...so mix it up a bit. Here are a few fun ways to practice on the course, with a twist.Play from the Ladies TeesYup you heard me....Playing from the front tees is a great way to mix up a course you play often because it gives you new yardages, approaches, and angles that you normally won't find when you play your normal tees. You'll have to hit some shorter wedges, and you're game off the tee will change as well. It's a fresh change of perspective when you get bored with your course. Yeah I know, there's no way you're going to play from the reds in the middle of the day with everyone staring and snickering right? You don't have to play the reds at ... PGA Tour to start drug testing next summer
2007-11-14 18:06:00 The PGA Tour has announced that it will begin it's speculated drug testing policy as early as July of 2008, with penalties that range from year long suspensions to outright banning from the tour for 3 time offenders. Tim Finchem, PGA Tour Commissioner, says that players can be tested anywhere, anytime without prior notice and that in addition to suspensions for violating the policy, fines of up to $500,000 could also be assessed, depending on the severity of the offense. Finchem said violations for recreational drugs, such as marijuana or cocaine, could be treated differently from steroids. The program allows the commissioner discretion to require treatment instead of sanctions, or a combination of the two.A list of the banned substances will be distributed to the players in the coming months along with educational material to familiarize them with the program.Read the full story hereFree Golf Games More About: Summer , Testing , Start , Drug

Tigers Woods first course is underway in Dubai
2007-11-07 19:02:00 Trying his hand at course design for the first time, Tiger Woods has completed the designs of 3 holes for his course in Dubai . Woods and his design company are developing a 7,800-yard, par-72 course called Al Ruwaya in Dubailand, the region's largest tourism and leisure project. The facility will also feature a golf school, luxury homes and community center in the 55 million square foot development. The 3 completed hole designs feature all of the requisite difficulties that you would expect from a champion like Tiger. Greens are protected by a multitude of bunkers and water hazards, while lush greenery adorn the fairways. So far, Woods has completed the designs for a 181 yard par 3, with varying elevated tee boxes, a driveable 341 yard par with 3 bunkers protecting, and a 500 yard par 4 finishing hole with water in front of the green and along the fairways.Overall, I think if you walk off 18 with a par, you will feel like you made some smart decisions and executed properly," Wo... James Bond settles suit with Sherwood County Club.
2007-11-05 19:02:00 The original James Bond star, Sean Connery, settled his long time suit this past week with the Los Angeles based Sherwood Country Club . Connery, was scheduled to appear in court this week to testify, along with golfing friends Joe Pesci and Craig T. Nelson who were also going to testify for Connery. The suit against Sherwood C.C. alleges that the club failed to pay Mr. Connery equity that his membership had earned as a result of a real estate promotion deal he signed with the club in 1990. Connery purchased the membership that year for $35,000, but has not been a member of the club since 2004. The settlement amount was undisclosed. Club Car Golf Carts...some of the nicest carts around.
2007-11-03 03:56:00 Now here's something you don't think about much.....Golf Carts. I was playing at my friends club last week, and they had just received their brand spankin' new Club Car Golf Carts...about 100 of them, and I got to thinking...how much does a nice golf cart influence the enjoyment of your round of golf? My club has decent Club Car golf carts also, but not nearly as nice as the carts my friends club just spent a fortune on. I mean these things are plush...fabric bucket seats, a quick release latch cooler system, requisite ball / club washer, GPS, the whole 9 yards. Don't get me wrong, my club isn't shabby, but they must have spent a fortune on these Club Cars, and their old carts weren't in bad shape. As we played that day, I felt like I was riding around in my wife's sport utility vehicle. Not only were these Club Car golf carts much more comfortable to sit in, but they hauled some serious...we'll you know! Some thing about golf carts is just plain cool. As a kid, if you ...

Make more putts by using half of the hole...
2007-10-22 00:38:00 This is a great putting practice tip from Michael Breed of the Golf Channel...One of my favorite drills is where you put a ball to cover up the low side of the hole. What this does is make the hole smaller and forces you to make the ball on the high side. Here I have a putt that is breaking left to right. I have placed a ball on the lower right side on the hole. This drill will teach you speed as well as feel on putts from any distance. After trying this drill head out to the course and you will see a hole that looks more like a bucket instead of the thimble. Incorporate this drill into your short game practice and you'll stop leaving putts on the low side, where they never have a chance to go in....TGB. More About: Make , Hole , Half , The Hole

Who's the Sexiest Woman on the LPGA??
2007-10-19 00:21:00 As you all know, we like to keep the Tour Golf Blog "family friendly", but once and a while we just have to push the limit a little bit. We want to find out "Who is the Sexiest LPGA player on tour"? There are some great looking ladies out there these days, and the LPGA of today sure ain't the LPGA of the 1970's....or the 1980's for that matter.. So take a look at our selections and let us know who you want to vote for....We'll tally the votes and see who is "The Sexiest Woman on the LPGA Tour"?Ok, we know this isn't as much fun as a "Sexiest NFL Cheerleader" poll...but we do golf here...Sorry! Now vote for one of these ladies. Anna Rawson Sophie Sandolo Carin Koch Natalie Gulbis Paula Creamer Christie Kerr Grace Park Michelle Wie
Goodbye Nissan Open...Hello The Northern Trust Open
2007-10-18 00:32:00 The PGA Tour announced Wednesday that the title sponsor of the Nissan Open at Riveria Country Club in Los Angeles, California will no longer be Nissan and will now be named The Northern Trust Open. Northern Trust, a Chicago based company, signed a five year deal, giving the tournament a new name for the first time since 1989, when Nissan took over as title sponsor.Nissan had signed a contract to sponsor the event through the 2010 season, however recently moved it's U.S. based headquarters from Southern California to Nashville, Tennessee and asked to be released from their contract if another sponsor became available.Northern Trust is an investment management and personal trust company based in Chicago, with two offices in Los Angeles and branches in Newport Beach and Santa Barbara.TaylorMade Drivers & Golf ClubsNew Nike Sumo SQ IronsWhat is My Car Worth? - Find out here! Gatorade Tiger...coming soon.
2007-10-17 18:11:00 Tiger Woods officially signed an endorsement deal with Gato rade on Tuesday, which represents Tiger's first U.S. deal with a beverage company. The new Gatorade Tiger will be released in March of 2008, with 3 new flavors, cherry blend, citrus blend and grape, which were hand picked by Tiger himself. The terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed however; Golfweek magazine reported last month it was for five years and could pay Woods as much as $100 million, moving him closer to the $1 billion mark in career endorsements.According to Woods, Gatorade has been part of his game plan for years as he's excited to introduce his first signature sports drink with Gatorade next year and help develop new sports performance drinks with Gatorade in the future.....read the full story.TaylorMade Drivers & Golf ClubsNew Nike Sumo SQ IronsWhat is My Car Worth? - Find out here! Southern California Wildfires...Please be safe!
2007-10-17 00:59:00 Well things here in Southern California are pretty crazy at the moment. As I look out the window, the entire sky is just a foggy, haze of smoke and ash. The sun rising over the east is a red glowing ball from all of the particulate in the air and being outside is probably the worst place you could possibly be, due to the hazard of breathing. Needless to say, there's not much golf going on around So. Cal at the moment, as it's not a healthy idea to be out in that stuff. Our location hasn't been evacuated, but homes as close as 5 miles away have, so we're hoping that our luck will remain in tact.We at Tour Golf Blog are thinking of everyone in the Southern California area, and hoping that the firefighters, who are doing an amazingly difficult task, will get this nightmare under control soon, so everyone can return to their homes and survey any damage. The evacuee shelters in San Diego County could use supplies and any help you can give. Club of the week...My Scotty Cameron putter!
2007-10-07 03:03:00 This weeks "Club of the Week " is my Scotty Cameron Studio Stainless 2.5 putter. I decided to feature one of my own clubs this week mainly because it's the best club I've ever owned....and for me to say that about a putter is unbelievable.I used so many putters of the years I can't even count them all, but I always wanted a Scotty Cameron putter. In my mind, I could never justify spending $300+ on a Scotty Cameron, but one day, on a whim, I found this beauty on Ebay, and it's been a match made in heaven. I went so far as to buy this putter without ever having putted with a Scotty Cameron putter...I was just intrigued by them for the longest time, and luckily...it was a good match.Think about it..we all spend hundreds of bucks on the newest, baddest driver on the market, and we used it a dozen or so times per round...but the idea of spending $300 on a putter seems crazy, even though you'll use your putter 30+ times a round. Ok, so maybe this is how I justify buying an expensi...

Best Southern California Golf Courses
2007-10-04 20:42:00 As most of you know by now, I was born and raised and currently live in Southern Calif ornia , and let me tell you, there's no better place I know of where you can play golf year round, with some of the best golf courses you'll find. I live on a course, and I'm also a member of that club, but it's still my goal to play all the golf courses in Southern California ...well at least a lot of them.I would say that currently, my favorite Southern California golf course would be Torrey Pines. In my eyes, it has to be one of the best public courses in Southern California, and by far the best public course that hosts a PGA Tour event. The views are magnificent. The South Course is extremely challenging, and the price (if you live in SD) is only about $45 for 18 holes. If you are a golfing visitor to the San Diego area, you must try to get on at Torrey Pines. It will be worth the effort, even though tee times can be difficult to come by.Next on my list would be La Costa Resort & Sp... More About: Golf

The Fall PGA tournaments bore me to tears...someone had to say it!
2007-10-02 07:06:00 It's true...the fall leg of the PGA tour is like watching paint dry. Yeah, I know John Daly is making his third straight appearance in as many weeks at this weeks Valero Texas Open, but unless Big John pulls off a miracle, I don't even think there's a chance for him to get his card back for 2008. The highest ranking player on the money list playing this week is Steven "big teeth" Ames at 42nd. Don't get me wrong, Tiger doesn't have to be playing to keep me interested, but watching J.J. Henry and Justin Leonard battle it out in San Antonio isn't my idea of must watch television. I guess I'm just spoiled from seeing so much good, championship caliber golf at the end of the FedEx Cup matches. So when does the regular season start again?
